Chapter 595 Kidnapping (2) Pierce's Identity

Augustus didn't say a word as Pierce continued, "I'll send you the address. Don't call the cops, or Cecilia's dead!"

With that, the call ended.

Augustus's face turned serious.

He grabbed Rose's phone and bolted towards the car.

Rose, stunned, quickly followed and jumped into the passenger seat.

Augustus shot her a look, clearly not in the mood to chat.

He floored it, speeding off.

Rose clutched the handle beside her, realizing just how intense Augustus, the bodyguard, could be.

She stayed quiet, knowing Augustus was definitely going to save Cecilia. But she wasn't sure why she had followed.

Maybe she was just really scared something might happen to Cecilia.

As Augustus drove, he called, "Mr. Whitaker, Mrs. Whitaker's been taken by Pierce."

Alaric's face changed at Augustus's words.

Augustus continued, "I'll send you the address right away. He said not to call the cops, or he'll kill her."

Hearing this, Rose turned pale with fear.

"I'm heading to the address Pierce sent. You need to get there fast," Augustus said.

"Okay," Alaric responded, stepping out of the villa.

George chased after him, "Mr. Whitaker, where are you going so late? You're not fully recovered yet."

But Alaric got into his car, offering no explanation as he sped off.

He called Cassius, "Cecilia's been kidnapped by Pierce. I'm going to save her. Follow me. Don't alert anyone else; we don't want to cause a scene."

"Got it," Cassius replied, jumping out of bed.

He had just been released from custody a couple of days ago and was resting at home.

He had finally gone to bed early, only to be woken up by Alaric.

He drove to meet up with Alaric.

Cassius narrowed his eyes at the thought of Pierce. Had he been exposed so soon?

On a dark, secluded coastline, Cecilia woke up feeling dizzy.

Her vision was blurry, and it took her a while to realize what had happened.

Why was she in an unfamiliar place?

Cecilia's body tensed as she was startled by a familiar voice from the front seat. "Awake?"

She quickly sat up from the back seat, warily looking at Pierce.

Right, she had been smothered by Pierce and then passed out.

"Wondering why I did this?" Pierce extinguished his cigarette.

Even though the window was open, the heavy smell of smoke lingered.

Cecilia wasn't sure how many he had smoked.

She tried to stay calm. She reassured herself that since Pierce hadn't killed her while she was unconscious, he likely wouldn’t do so now.

Maybe he just wanted to threaten someone.

Her heart pounded faster at this thought.

The first person that came to mind was Alaric.

Was Pierce targeting Alaric?

So he was using Cecilia as a hostage.

Wasn't this conspiracy a bit too grand in its planning?

Cecilia tensed up as she watched Pierce turn to look at her. "My identity is a disguise. Pierce isn't my real name," he said.

Cecilia asked, "Who are you really?"

"Who I am isn't important. What's important is, who is Alaric?" Pierce pressed.

"What are you talking about!" Cecilia was a bit agitated.

"Ms. Lockhart, you're so smart. I don't believe you don't know that Alaric's identity is a mystery," Pierce said calmly.Cecilia bit her lip.

So, she had guessed right: Pierce was after Alaric.

But who exactly was Alaric to attract so much attention?

Pierce was also scrutinizing Cecilia.

Cecilia said, "I really don't know who Alaric is. Yeah, I find him strange too. He always seems different from ordinary people. Everyone thinks he's a playboy, but he turns out to be incredibly strong. But aside from knowing he's from the Whitaker family, I really don't know who else he could be."

Pierce looked at Cecilia for a long time, and he seemed to believe her. The expression on her face didn’t suggest she was lying. After all, if Alaric really had another identity, he couldn't possibly reveal it to anyone, including Cecilia.

In the end, Pierce held no hope for Cecilia. All along, he had been waiting for Alaric.

"Pierce, we have no grudges," Cecilia said, seeing the trust in his eyes.

Pierce's eyes flickered at her words.

"In fact, since you joined the Lockhart Group, I've always valued you and given you opportunities to grow. I even considered making you the general manager of the Lockhart Group after my dad retired," Cecilia continued, a hint of disappointment in her voice.

Pierce said, "Sorry, I had no choice."

Cecilia sneered, "So your only options were to kidnap me and then to kill me?"

"I won't kill you," Pierce said directly.

Cecilia's eyes flickered.

"My target is Alaric, not you," Pierce said. "So, you're safe."

However, it was clear that Cecilia didn't believe him. Pierce chose not to explain further.

"Who are you really?" Cecilia couldn't help but ask.

Pierce checked the time, thinking, 'Alaric should still be a while away.'

He then said, "I'm from a noble family."

"The Monroe family?" Cecilia asked.

Pierce asked, "Are you trying to get information for Alaric?"

Cecilia replied, "I at least need to know who is targeting me, so I know who to guard against in the future."

"I belong to the noble family, not any specific family," Pierce confirmed.

Hearing this, Cecilia frowned slightly.

Pierce would always follow the orders of a family.

"When the two major noble families agreed to jointly manage the Yakurosean Empire, they formed a hidden elite team called the Phantom Sentinel Agency. Each member of the Phantom Sentinel Agency is selected from millions of people. If one dies, another takes their place, keeping the team at twenty, all involved in illegal activities," Pierce said calmly.

He didn't seem to want to hide it from Cecilia.

After all, she would find out soon enough.

"This team doesn't belong to any family. Their missions must be approved by the highest leaders of the two major noble families," Pierce said, looking at Cecilia. "So, investigating Alaric's identity is a joint decision of the two major noble families."

Hearing this, Cecilia was clearly emotional.

Who exactly was Alaric, to warrant the attention of the two major noble families?

At that moment, Cecilia felt a bit disappointed.

She thought that after this cooperation, the Hotchner family would be on their side.

But in the end, it was all about interests.

"Political struggles never involve emotions; power is above all," Pierce said bluntly, seemingly reading Cecilia's thoughts.
