Chapter 156 Targeting Vincent
Cecilia sneezed.
Who was cursing her?
She rubbed her nose, sitting in the car, heading to the Lockhart Group.
Rose had just called, saying there was a management meeting for department heads in the sales department that she needed to attend.
Cecilia figured staying home wouldn't help Alaric and might even get her teased by him. She'd better go to work. After all, Cassius was there to keep Alaric company.
Plus, she had a lot of work to do. She'd checked out the Tower of Light project yesterday and knew she needed to get started on it quickly. She had only three to six months to prove herself.
The car stopped at the Lockhart Group building. Cecilia walked in and headed to her office.
Rose followed and quickly reported, "The meeting's already started. You can go straight in."
"How late am I?" Cecilia asked.
"Five minutes."
Cecilia nodded and picked up her pace.
Grabbing her laptop, she asked Rose while heading to the meeting room, "How long do these meetings usually last?"
"Usually two hours."
So, the whole morning.
"What's the main topic?"
"Reporting key marketing projects to management."
"Each manager reports?"
"Yes."
"Are these meetings frequent?" Cecilia asked.
"Once a week."
Cecilia nodded. They reached the meeting room door.
She turned to Rose. "You don't need to come in. At 2 PM, we have a special meeting for the Tower of Light project. I'll send you the outline I need, and you can organize it. We'll finalize the plan in the meeting."
"OK," Rose replied.
Cecilia pushed open the door and walked in. The meeting was ongoing.
She quietly took her seat as a sales manager presented his project. Vincent, the supervising boss, sat in the middle, listening to the reports.
Cecilia opened her laptop and started working. Vincent noticed and looked embarrassed.
'Seems Cecilia doesn't respect him at all, does she?'
His face turned stern, and he coldly said, "Cecilia, where did we leave off in our discussion?"
Usually, Cecilia, being part of the management, wouldn't be criticized in front of subordinates. But Vincent didn't care.
Cecilia didn't mind either. She looked up when Vincent called her name. She'd been writing something for the afternoon meeting and needed Rose to refine it. Time was tight, and she hadn't been listening to the meeting.
"So, you can't say it?" Vincent sneered.
Cecilia knew he was trying to embarrass her but didn't want to waste time arguing.
"Not only are you late, but you're also disrespecting the meeting. As the sales director, don't you think you're damaging our department's image?" Vincent's sarcasm was clear.
Cecilia pressed her lips together. "Mr. Lockhart, I'm fully aware of our sales projects' progress. I don't need to re-learn it in a meeting. It's a waste of time. I have important work to do, so no, I don't know where you left off."
"So, you're saying this meeting is a waste of time?"
"Yes." Cecilia nodded.
"Cecilia, you're being quite arrogant!"
"Mr. Lockhart, don't misunderstand. I just think having each manager spend two hours reporting progress is inefficient. A simple report would suffice. Market projects are monitored daily and displayed in the executive group. If you want to know what the sales department is up to, just read the bi-weekly reports on process-monitored projects. These weekly meetings are unnecessary."
"Cecilia!" Vincent's face changed.
As a senior executive, he felt ridiculed by Cecilia in front of everyone.
"Don't think you can do whatever you want just because you're the chairman's daughter!" Vincent shouted. "Do you think I have nothing to do? I personally help monitor market indicators, and you're ungrateful!"
"If you want to monitor market indicators, focus on the weaker ones. Overseeing the healthy ones just creates unnecessary work."
"Cecilia!" Vincent shouted.
Cecilia remained calm. "The sales department has twelve KPI projects, four of which are weak. I suggest you focus on these four. The other managers don't need to attend these meetings, saving resources."
Vincent was speechless.
Cecilia continued, "We've identified the issues with the four weak indicators. Since you're so concerned, why not give us some constructive advice? Michael."
Michael, the sales team A manager, responded respectfully, "Mrs. Whitaker."
Cecilia said, "Report the severe losses in the Tower of Light project to Mr. Lockhart and ask for his guidance."
"Sure." Michael quickly stood up and walked to the front.
Another manager, Ronald Lewis, stepped down from the stage.
Cecilia had instantly taken control of the meeting.
