"What'cha buying?" Magnolia asked Seraphina.
"Why should I tell you?" Seraphina shot back.
Magnolia had just called her ugly.
If she was so ugly, why did Magnolia even care?
Magnolia should stick to talking to pretty people, like Dashiell.
Magnolia felt a bit emotional hearing Seraphina's words, but she didn't really care. She said, "I'll tag along later."
"No way!" Seraphina snapped.
Magnolia insisted, "I need to buy some stuff too."
Seraphina retorted, "Then go buy your stuff! You do you, I'll do me..."
"Dashiell's coming too," Magnolia said, ignoring Seraphina. She turned to Dashiell, "You haven't been out much, right? You should get out more."
"Okay," Dashiell agreed.
Seraphina was fuming.
She knew it; Magnolia never took her seriously.
All that nice-girl act before was just that—an act!
She should really record Magnolia's nasty behavior and show it to Atticus.
Let him see for himself how vicious the woman he liked was.
Seraphina cursed under her breath.
Still, she went shopping with Magnolia, Dashiell, and Lucy.
Since it wasn't the weekend, the mall wasn't packed.
Magnolia nudged Dashiell and asked, "Anything you wanna buy?"
Dashiell replied, "Nah. You guys go ahead and shop."
"What do you wanna buy?" Magnolia turned to Seraphina.
"Bedding," Seraphina replied.
She didn't want to smell Dashiell's scent anymore, not even a whiff!
"We'll shop with you first," Magnolia said.
Seraphina didn't argue and headed to the bedding section.
She picked out a pink five-piece bedding set she liked, thought it looked nice, and grabbed another set with a different pattern. After making her picks, she went to the counter to pay.
Just as she took out her credit card, the cashier quickly said, "Your husband already paid for you."
Seraphina glanced at Dashiell, who sat calmly in his wheelchair.
Dashiell felt her gaze but didn't turn around.
Seraphina pursed her lips.
The bedding here wasn't cheap; it was pretty pricey.
Dashiell, this unemployed bum...
But since Dashiell's money was all Atticus's, she didn't need to feel embarrassed.
After buying the bedding, they planned to browse for clothes when they passed by the lingerie section.
"Wait," Magnolia said, "Let's buy some lingerie."
Seraphina reluctantly followed Magnolia inside.
After just a couple of steps, Dashiell spoke up, "I'll wait for you outside."
At that moment, Magnolia was pushing him directly into the lingerie store.
Magnolia was a bit speechless. "What's there to be shy about?"
"I'll wait for you outside," Dashiell was firm, "Lucy, push me to the door."
Lucy then pushed Dashiell to wait at the entrance.
Inside the lingerie store, Seraphina thought since she was already here, she might as well buy a couple of sets.
After all, she really liked the new styles.
Just as she was about to pay for the lingerie, Magnolia suddenly stopped her. "Buy these two sets."
Looking at the two sets of lingerie in Magnolia's hands, Seraphina remarked disdainfully. "So ugly."
Magnolia replied, "These are for pregnant women."
Seraphina insisted, "I don't need them; they're so ugly, no shape at all."
"Don't you know that during pregnancy, the breasts need to secrete milk? Secreting milk is the second development of the breasts. If you shape them, how do you expect them to develop?" Magnolia said seriously.
"I don't give a damn..."
Before Seraphina could finish her sentence, she saw Penelope strut out of the fitting room in the lingerie store.
Why was this chick here too?
The more you didn't wanna see someone, the more that bitch showed up to ruin your day.
"Are you pregnant?" Penelope asked Seraphina.
"Yeah, I'm pregnant with Dashiell's kid," Seraphina said, laying it on thick.
Knowing Penelope had a thing for Dashiell, she said it just to piss her off.
Penelope's face twisted, turning downright nasty.
She stared at Seraphina, speechless for a long time.
Penelope just couldn't swallow this bitter pill.
Dashiell marrying Seraphina was already a huge blow, and now Seraphina was pregnant?
Her eyes narrowed, a vicious glint flashing in them.
Penelope didn't say anything and stormed off.
Watching Penelope's furious back, Seraphina felt super satisfied.
The perks of marrying Dashiell, besides not having to live with Atticus, included pissing off Penelope.
"Let's roll," Magnolia called out to Seraphina.
Seraphina snapped back to reality.
Seeing Magnolia with the shopping bags, she knew she had bought those two ugly bras.
Seraphina gritted her teeth, not wanting to argue with Magnolia.
She'd come back and buy her own later.
Leaving the lingerie store, Dashiell was waiting for them at the entrance.
Seeing them come out, he had Lucy push him to follow them.
"Did you see Penelope just now?" Seraphina asked casually.
"Yeah," Dashiell responded.
"Didn't she say anything to you?" Seraphina mocked.
Before Dashiell could speak, Lucy quickly chimed in, "Yeah. Penelope told Mr. Rainier that one day he'd fall in love with her."
Lucy just wanted Seraphina to feel a sense of crisis.
Seraphina knew Dashiell had plenty of admirers.
She also expected Penelope to pull this stunt, so she wasn't fazed.
She was even amused by Penelope's unrequited love.
"Penelope even tried to kiss Mr. Rainier," Lucy added.
Seraphina's smug smile froze for a second.
She suddenly turned to look at Dashiell.
Her eyes inexplicably focused on his lips.
"She didn't kiss his lips. Mr. Rainier dodged, and she kissed his cheek," Lucy explained quickly, seeing Seraphina's gaze.
Seraphina looked indifferent. "Why are you telling me this? It's none of my business."
Lucy retorted, "You and Mr. Rainier are married. If another woman kisses Mr. Rainier, how is it not your business..."
"That's enough, Lucy," Dashiell said sternly.
Lucy pouted, not daring to say more.
She still felt sorry for Dashiell, who always protected Seraphina.
She thought a woman like Seraphina, who didn't appreciate her blessings, needed a harsh reality check.
Otherwise, she wouldn't know the dangers of the world and couldn't tell right from wrong.
Meanwhile, Penelope left the mall in a huff.
Sitting in her private car, thinking about Dashiell's rejection and Seraphina's pregnancy, she felt like tearing someone apart!
She suddenly screamed, startling the driver, who didn't dare make a sound.
Why could Seraphina get pregnant with Dashiell's kid?
'She has no right! In this world, only I could bear his children!'
She gritted her teeth and angrily dialed Sebastian's number.
She would never let Seraphina's child be born smoothly!
