Chapter 475 The Game (20) Intimidating Aura
Seraphina started hollerin' at Dashiell, makin' his face go all dark and stormy.
Atticus looked just as grim. He was wonderin' when Seraphina would finally grow up and handle stuff like an adult.
Atticus was about to say somethin'.
Just as he was about to open his mouth, Dashiell let go of Seraphina and marched straight to Penelope, draggin' her outta the conference room.
Everyone was just starin' at their backs, totally shocked.
Seraphina was fumin'.
Dashiell was clearly takin' Penelope's side.
Penelope had gone way too far, even bullyin' Cecilia, and he didn't even care.
The more Seraphina thought about it, the angrier she got, to the point where she wanted to scream.
Atticus, worried Seraphina might cause more trouble, told her, "You leave too!"
Seraphina glared at Atticus, her eyes wide.
Why should she leave?
She wanted to see how Cecilia would humiliate that jerk Dominic!
"Seraphina!" Atticus's face turned cold.
Seraphina stormed out, mad as hell.
She was so pissed she wanted to leave Everhart Bank right then and there.
Atticus had scolded her in front of everyone; she wanted to make him regret it!
Seraphina stomped towards the elevator.
As she passed by a safety exit, she heard someone cryin' inside.
She paused and looked over.
At the entrance of the safety exit, she saw Penelope bawlin' her eyes out in Dashiell's arms.
Penelope was clingin' to Dashiell like she wanted to merge into him. Her hands were grippin' his clothes like a lifeline.
Dashiell, on the other hand, looked totally indifferent.
He just stood there, lettin' Penelope cry on him.
His face showed zero emotion.
At that moment, he seemed to notice Seraphina outside the safety door.
His eyes shifted slightly, and he locked eyes with Seraphina.
Seraphina suddenly felt nervous.
It was like she got caught doin' somethin' wrong.
She hadn't meant to spy on them.
She couldn't even explain why she had been drawn over there.
Seein' Penelope in Dashiell's arms made her inexplicably angry.
She realized that Penelope had provoked Cecilia in the conference room, and Dashiell still stood by Penelope?
They had grown up together, but Dashiell's feelings seemed so cheap.
She was thinkin' about a million things.
At that moment, she even forgot that bein' caught spyin' should have made her turn and run.
She just stared at them.
Her eye contact with Dashiell broke when he looked away.
At that moment, Dashiell even turned around and held Penelope tighter, turnin' his back to Seraphina.
It was clear he didn't want her to see.
Seraphina's anger surged.
She just thought Dashiell betrayed their friendship and didn't care about which woman he was tangled up with.
She turned and left.
As soon as Seraphina left, Dashiell pushed Penelope away.
In fact, he had brought Penelope out just to keep her from disruptin' Cecilia and Dominic's negotiations. He hadn't expected Penelope to cry on him. He had wanted to push her away but saw Seraphina.
Not wanting Seraphina to see any of his emotions, Dashiell just let Penelope cry on him.
Now that Seraphina was gone, he pushed Penelope away.
Penelope looked at Dashiell with tear-filled eyes.
She had thought Dashiell felt pity for her when he let her hold him, but now he was coldly pushing her away.
"What do I have to do to win you over, Dashiell? What do I have to do to make you love me?" Penelope broke down.
The turmoil within the Kingsley family, Cecilia's aggressive demeanor, and Dashiell's chilling indifference combined to shatter her completely. Tears streamed down her face.
Dashiell looked away and said indifferently, "No matter what you do, I will never like you, so don't waste your efforts on me."
"Dashiell! Seraphina doesn't want you anymore; why can't you accept another relationship?" Penelope shouted.
"It has nothing to do with Seraphina. I'm just bein' true to my own feelings," Dashiell said.
Penelope laughed bitterly.
"Dashiell, when will you be honest?" Penelope said, breakin' down. "You still love Seraphina; you still can't forget her!"
"That has nothing to do with you," Dashiell said coldly.
His indifference made Penelope's heart ache.
She had loved Dashiell sincerely for so many years.
Why couldn't she get even a bit of his affection?
"I advise you not to go back to the conference room and cause a scene. You can't win against Cecilia," Dashiell said impatiently. "You'd better take care of yourself."
Then he got up and left.
Penelope watched Dashiell's cold back, unable to resist the urge to scream.
Inside the conference room, without Penelope and Seraphina's commotion, it became much quieter.
Cecilia couldn't help but feel grateful to Dashiell.
At this moment, she had no time to deal with anyone else.
Her eyes turned cold as she said to Dominic, "You've seen the IOU. You know the timeline. I wouldn't stop you from repaying the Everhart Bank. After all, it concerns Nathaniel's prison term. According to the law, repaying a fraudulent loan reduces the legal responsibility significantly. Maybe just a year or so, your father would be out of prison. Otherwise, it could mean a ten-year sentence, and who knows if Nathaniel would survive prison."
"Cecilia, enough!" Dominic was humiliated by Cecilia's sarcasm and gritted his teeth.
He wanted to kill Cecilia.
He had thought he had solved the Kingsley Group's financial crisis through the Monroe Family, but now Cecilia had brought up the two billion dollars. He was sure the Monroe Family wouldn't come up with another two billion dollars. He didn't have that kind of power. And if the Monroe Family didn't give him the money, he would have to exchange shares. But once he did that, their family's shares would drop below 50%!
