Chapter 210 Disabled Right Leg

Seraphina turned and left; she was done wasting time on Dashiell.

Whether he liked her or just wanted a spot in the Everhart family didn't matter.

All she wanted now was to marry Sebastian.

Then she'd cut ties with Dashiell and Magnolia for good.

"Seraphina," Dashiell called, reaching out to grab her.

She despised everything about him.

In that moment, she snapped. When he grabbed her arm, she shoved him away hard.

She really wanted him gone.

But how strong could she be?

She never thought her push would make Dashiell stumble back. And behind him was the street of Serenovia City.

Even though there were fewer cars at night, there were still some.

Just then, a speeding car came out of nowhere.

The driver saw Dashiell too late, slammed on the brakes but couldn't stop in time. Even though the car slowed down, it still hit Dashiell, throwing him to the ground.

Seraphina hadn't even processed it.

She saw Dashiell get hit, roll on the ground, and end up covered in blood.

For a moment, she was frozen.

She couldn't believe what just happened.

She had just waved her hand; she never meant to hurt Dashiell.

She just wanted to push him away so that he would understand she didn't like him.

She didn't want him dead.

She stood there for a long time.

She didn't even stop the car that sped off.

Later, trembling, she called Cecilia.

She didn't call Sebastian.

It seemed Cecilia was the one she trusted most.

Only Cecilia could support her.

In the hospital corridor, footsteps echoed.

Cecilia and Seraphina saw Atticus, Magnolia, and Sebastian rushing over.

"What happened? How did Dashiell get into a car accident?" Atticus asked, worried.

Magnolia looked pale.

Seraphina bit her lip, staying silent.

Cecilia didn't speak for her either.

"What's the situation now?" Atticus asked again.

"He went in about half an hour ago and hasn't come out yet," Seraphina said softly.

"How could a car accident just happen?" Atticus seemed puzzled but quickly comforted Magnolia, "It's okay. I believe Dashiell will be fine. Don't be afraid."

He was so kind to Magnolia.

Seraphina watched them coldly, gritting her teeth. This time, she kept quiet.

Because of Dashiell, she stayed silent.

Sebastian came to Seraphina's side, holding her to comfort her.

Cecilia felt a bit awkward.

She didn't look at Sebastian.

After a while, more footsteps echoed in the corridor.

It was the traffic police.

A major accident had happened, and they came to investigate.

Seraphina explained what happened.

Magnolia lost it, "You pushed Dashiell?"

Seraphina bit her lip lightly.

The police confirmed, "Ms. Everhart, just to be clear, did you push Dashiell onto the road, causing the accident?"

Seraphina was about to answer when Sebastian jumped in, "It was probably mutual. When Seraphina called me, she mentioned they had a dispute, right, Seraphina?"

Seraphina looked at Sebastian. He was smart, trying to help her avoid blame.

Cecilia once thought Sebastian genuinely cared for Seraphina, even if it meant bending the truth. But after everything, she realized he was just playing it safe.

"Is that right, Ms. Everhart?" the police asked again.

Seraphina bit her lip and nodded, knowing Sebastian was helping her.

"Alright," the police said. "We're tracking the getaway car. Once we find the driver, we'll contact you. Keep your phone on and don't leave Serenovia City."

Seraphina nodded, and the police left.

The corridor fell silent again, the tension thick.

Seraphina's heart pounded erratically. If Dashiell didn't come out soon, she felt she might have a heart attack.

Time dragged on, feeling like an eternity.

Finally, the operating room door opened. A tired-looking doctor walked out first.

Magnolia rushed over, "Doctor, how is Dashiell?"

"He's not in life-threatening condition, thanks to the quick response," the doctor said.

Magnolia sighed in relief, and Seraphina felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders. She couldn't imagine what she'd do if Dashiell had died.

"But," the doctor paused, making everyone's hearts tighten again, "the most severe injuries are to his legs. His right leg is almost shattered. We've managed to re-stitch and brace it, but we can't guarantee it will be usable."

"You mean..." Magnolia looked at the doctor in disbelief, "he might be disabled?"

"His left leg should function normally after treatment and rehab, but the right leg... I can't promise," the doctor said honestly.

"That's unacceptable! How can he live without his right leg?!" Magnolia cried, losing her usual composure.

She had always been dignified, but now she was too distraught.

"Ma'am, don't be too upset. This is just a preliminary assessment. Once he recovers, there's still a chance for improvement," the doctor tried to comfort her.

'A miracle?' Cecilia thought. Miracles were rare, but sometimes they did happen.

While everyone else was distressed, Cecilia stayed calm. She glanced at Seraphina, who looked so guilty she might want to die to atone for her actions.
