Chapter 655 Seraphina Explains to Dashiell

Cecilia thought for a second and quickly added, "Actually, you're all the same. They showed up on their own after I turned them down."

"Really?" Seraphina asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Come on, do you really think with our relationship, I'd let them come and not you? That just wouldn't happen, right?" Cecilia said sincerely.

Seraphina suddenly found it very reasonable.

Cecilia would never ditch her!

Seraphina calmed down and said, "So, should we hang out at your place tonight?"

Cecilia replied, "Yeah, sure."

Seraphina asked, "Is Alaric gonna be home?"

Cecilia responded, "Nah, he's got a dinner meeting tonight."

Seraphina said, "So that's why you thought of me."

Cecilia said, "Didn't you say you didn't mind me being close with Alaric?"

"But I can't be your backup choice." Seraphina was clearly upset.

"There's no one quite like you as an alternative," Cecilia flattered.

Seraphina couldn't resist the compliment and said, "Alright, since you seem to need me so much, I'll head to the Whitaker Villa after work. Let George know I'm a fan of his clam chowder."

Cecilia said, "You really have a knack for enjoying good food."

"Of course." Seraphina said directly, "See you tonight."

"See you tonight." With that, Seraphina hung up the phone, feeling pretty good.

She glanced at the clock; there were still three hours left before her shift ended. It felt so dull.

At this moment, Seraphina's attention was no longer on her work.

She idly scrolled through her phone, looking at entertainment news.

She really had no interest in her job; she didn't even know why Atticus forced her to work at Everhart Bank.

Was it a waste of time?

Seraphina paused.

She usually didn't read financial news, but at that moment, she clicked on an article because she saw Dashiell's name.

For the past week, there had been occasional news about Dashiell, saying he occupied the position of general manager at Everhart Bank but didn't act like one. Even if he wanted to go back on his promises, he should at least explain it publicly. Such silence was not the demeanor of a leader.

Seraphina read the news and browsed through the comments.

There weren't many readers or commenters, but there were still some discussions. Such silence had a negative impact on Everhart Bank and would directly affect Atticus. It seemed like Atticus was unconditionally supporting Dashiell.

Seraphina put down her phone, hesitated for a moment, and then walked into Sebastian's office.

Sebastian was very busy, but no matter how busy he was, he would put down his work to accompany her.

"What's wrong?" Sebastian smiled gently.

He probably thought Seraphina was tired of working again.

"Cancel the news reports," Seraphina said directly.

Sebastian's eyes narrowed for a moment, but he quickly resumed his warm expression. "What?"

He feigned ignorance.

"I said, cancel the news reports about Dashiell," Seraphina said. "Dashiell is fully qualified for his current position, and my dad isn't that foolish. You don't need to do so much."

Sebastian wanted to explain.

"It's useless," Seraphina said bluntly. "These news reports don't affect Dashiell; he can still be the general manager. But what you're doing will negatively impact Everhart Bank."

Sebastian was silent for a while.

He was stunned by Seraphina's sudden words.

He had always thought Seraphina wouldn't care about Everhart Bank's affairs and wouldn't think so deeply.Sebastian was definitely using the media to mess with Dashiell and put pressure on Atticus through Everhart Bank.

"Seraphina, trust me, I'm really doing this for Everhart Bank..." he said.

But Seraphina just stared at him, not showing much emotion.

"These reports might have some negative impact on Everhart Bank now, but as you can see, the impact isn't significant. I'm just exposing this to the public to pressure Dashiell. If Dashiell really has ill intentions toward Everhart Bank, I can't just watch him succeed. Doing this puts a lot of pressure on me too," Sebastian said, looking a bit guilty. "I know that pushing this too far isn't good for anyone, but I'm feeling a lot of pressure because I understand exactly what Dashiell wants. I can't let him hurt you or Mr. Everhart!"

"Even if there's harm, it's my dad's own mistake," Seraphina said clearly. "Everhart Bank belongs to my dad. It's up to him to decide who to give it to. Even if he gives it to Dashiell in the end, what can I do? Besides being my dad's daughter, I haven't contributed anything. What right do I have to inherit Everhart Bank? If he wants to give it to Dashiell, let him. I don't care anymore."

Sebastian seemed not to believe what Seraphina said.

He just looked at her intently.

Seraphina added, "So you don't need to worry about it."

Sebastian pressed his lips tightly.

Seraphina meant that everything he was doing now was meddling.

Seraphina and Atticus didn't care.

What right did Sebastian, an outsider, have to do so much?

Sebastian was clearly mentally twisted.

But he still suppressed his inner displeasure and said, "Alright, since you are so determined, I won't interfere anymore."

Seraphina looked at him, feeling a pang of guilt.

It seemed she had wasted Sebastian's good intentions.

Sebastian turned to her and said, "Stop the news coverage on Dashiell."

"Are you kidding me? I've been under so much pressure to report this news, but now you say to stop? How am I supposed to explain this to my boss..." On the other end of the line, a very irritable voice came through.

Sebastian apologized.

Seraphina just silently watched.

It felt like time stood still.

After a long moment, Sebastian hung up the phone and turned to her, saying, "Okay, there won't be any more news about Dashiell."

Seraphina said, "Sebastian, I'm sorry."

Sebastian smiled indulgently. "Everything I do is for you. Now that it makes you unhappy, of course, I won't do it anymore. Don't think too much. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters."

Seraphina replied, "Okay."

"Let's have dinner together tonight," Sebastian said. "I went to a pretty good Mexican restaurant with a client the other day. You'll definitely like it."

"I have plans with Cecilia tonight," Seraphina declined.

"Alright." Sebastian was obviously a bit disappointed.

"Tomorrow night then; let's have dinner together tomorrow night," Seraphina quickly said.

"Okay." Sebastian seemed very enthusiastic and said, "I'll make a reservation now."

"Okay." Seraphina nodded. "I'll head out now."

Sebastian responded, "Okay."

After Seraphina left, the gentleness on Sebastian's face instantly disappeared.

He punched his desk hard.

Seraphina's feelings for Dashiell were becoming more and more apparent. Sebastian was determined not to let things unfold this way!
