Chapter 402 The Car Accident
Seraphina snatched up her phone, feeling all kinds of annoyed, and started messing around with a game.
Just as she got into it, she heard Dashiell say, "But I did it because I'm into you."
Her heart did a little flip.
She couldn't help but glance at Dashiell, watching him open the door and bounce.
Seraphina was in a seriously bad mood.
Dashiell's cold shoulder was driving her nuts, and the fact that he didn't give a damn made it even worse!
She felt like she was losing it.
She stormed out of bed and headed to the bathroom for a shower.
She couldn't let Dashiell mess with her head.
Seraphina came out of the shower, hair still dripping.
She gave it a quick towel dry, then blasted it with the hairdryer before hopping back into bed.
By then, Dashiell had come back to the room and was getting ready to shower.
Seeing her wet hair, he grabbed the hairdryer from the bathroom and started drying it for her.
Seraphina shot him a look.
"You'll catch a cold like that," Dashiell said.
She pressed her lips together but let him do it.
She didn't know when it started, but she was getting used to Dashiell's little acts of kindness.
Once her hair was dry, Dashiell went to take his shower.
Seraphina stared blankly at the bathroom door.
She wondered if Dashiell had really never been in a relationship before.
Whenever he flirted, it gave her this weird, tingly feeling.
It was like he wasn't trying too hard, but his moves were smooth and gentle.
Seraphina forced herself to snap out of it.
She couldn't let herself get swayed just because Dashiell was being nice now.
Thinking back to when he forced her into marriage, she knew she couldn't give in.
She grabbed her phone to check out some gossip.
Suddenly, the name "Sebastian" popped up on the screen.
She was startled for no reason.
They hadn't talked in ages, so why was he calling so late?
It still tugged at her heart a bit.
Sebastian was probably the one she could never have, her unreachable love.
In the end, she answered, "Sebastian..."
"Hello, miss, the owner of this phone was in a car accident and is seriously hurt. We're taking him to the Metropolitan Hospital for emergency treatment. You seem important to him because your number is the first on his speed dial. We hope you can come over, and if possible, notify his family!"
"How is he now?" Seraphina's voice was shaky.
"He's covered in blood. We'll know more once we get him to the hospital. Please come immediately!" The call ended abruptly.
Seraphina was in shock.
What did they mean, covered in blood?
She threw off the covers and bolted out without thinking.
Sebastian was an orphan with no family.
If something really happened to him...
She couldn't even imagine.
Everyone in the living room had already gone to their rooms.
No one knew that Seraphina grabbed the car keys from the entrance and rushed out.
Her mind was filled with images of Sebastian covered in blood.
Thinking of him being all alone in this world...
Her vision blurred.
She jumped into the car, floored the gas pedal, and sped towards The Metropolitan Hospital.
Her anxiety was off the charts, and tears just kept streaming down her face.
It was pouring cats and dogs in Serenovia City.
Seraphina didn't care about the rain, her mind was stuck on Sebastian covered in blood.
When Dashiell got out of the shower, Seraphina was MIA.
He frowned.
He figured she went to the living room for some water and didn't think much of it.
He chilled on the bed for a bit, waiting for her to come back.
After a while and still no sign of her, Dashiell started to get worried.
He quickly got out of bed, hopped into his wheelchair, and rolled out to look for her in the living room.
After searching around and not finding her, he knocked on Lucy Long's door, "Have you seen Seraphina?"
"Wasn't she in her room?" Lucy replied.
Dashiell then knocked on Magnolia's door. "Mom, have you seen Seraphina?"
Magnolia looked puzzled and clearly had no clue.
A bad feeling washed over him.
Dashiell gritted his teeth and quickly went to the entrance. Seeing that the car keys were gone, he hurriedly wheeled himself back to the room, his face looking seriously worried.
"Dashiell, what's wrong? Is Seraphina missing?" Magnolia was also freaked out.
Dashiell didn't say a word.
He grabbed his phone and called Seraphina, but she wasn't picking up.
Dashiell kept calling until she finally answered.
"Seraphina, where are you?" he asked urgently.
"I'm on my way to the hospital. Sebastian was in a car accident," she said.
"Pull over and chill. I'll come get you and take you there," Dashiell urged.
"No need, I can handle it," Seraphina said.
"It's pouring outside. Be careful driving," Dashiell said.
"I'm being careful," she said coldly. "Dashiell, don't try to stop me. I'm going to see Sebastian today, no matter what!"
"I'm not saying you can't see him. Just drive slowly..."
"Don't bother me!" Seraphina snapped and hung up.
Dashiell's call only made her more agitated.
Thinking of Sebastian alone in the hospital, she couldn't stay calm.
She ignored Dashiell's words and wiped her tears.
Just as she wiped them away, a car suddenly came from the front, its high beams blinding her. She swerved the steering wheel sharply to the side, trying to brake but lost control on the slippery road.
The car's front end crashed into the guardrail.
With a loud bang, Seraphina felt a sharp pain in her abdomen and blacked out.
"Where did Seraphina go?" Magnolia asked anxiously.
"She went to the hospital." Dashiell tried to stay calm as he told Magnolia, "I'm going to the hospital to find her."
"Why did she go to the hospital?" Magnolia watched as Dashiell wheeled himself at an astonishing speed.
"Sebastian was in a car accident," Dashiell said.
"I knew it was because of Sebastian. Wait for me, I'll go with you!" Magnolia quickly followed Dashiell.
Luckily, Magnolia had a car ready.
Otherwise, it would be tough to find a ride in this downpour at this hour.
They got into the car.
"Dashiell, can you drive?" Magnolia asked, startled.
She saw Dashiell get into the driver's seat.
