Chapter 290 Seraphina Gets Conspired Against
Dashiell came out of the room in his wheelchair and immediately heard Seraphina screaming in her own room.
Magnolia frowned and looked at Dashiell, "Is she out of her mind?"
Dashiell didn't explain to Magnolia because Seraphina couldn't handle the fact that they had slept in the same bed last night.
He changed the subject, "Why are you here?"
"I came back from my trip last night and came over early this morning to check on you, to see if Seraphina was bullying you," Magnolia said bluntly, then smiled, "I didn't expect things to progress faster than I thought."
"No, Seraphina got drunk last night, nothing happened," Dashiell explained.
He didn't want Magnolia to misunderstand.
Magnolia said, "If Seraphina got drunk and ended up in your bed, it means she doesn't guard against you that much," Magnolia said. "I knew Seraphina would like you eventually."
Dashiell gave a bitter smile, it's really hard to say.
Magnolia added. "If she doesn't like you, then she's really blind."
"Who praises her son like that?" Dashiell said helplessly, "Besides, I'm still disabled."
"Even disabled, you're better than most people," Magnolia said confidently.
Mothers thought their sons were the best anyway, and Dashiell didn't want to discourage Magnolia.
They chatted for a while.
Seraphina suddenly came out of her room.
She had already changed into outdoor clothes and put on makeup, looking quite spirited.
She was the complete opposite of the woman who had just been so distraught she wanted to bang her head against the wall.
At this moment, Seraphina seemed to have turned back into that fierce-looking, but ultimately harmless woman.
"Ms. Everhart," Lucy called out to her as she came out of the room, rushing forward, "I really didn't mean to disturb you this morning. It's just that Ms. Rainier came, and I wanted to wake Mr. Rainier. I didn't know you two slept in the same bed last night. If I had known, I would never have entered without knocking..."
Seraphina had clearly told herself to forget about it.
She thought, 'If I'm not embarrassed, the embarrassment is on others.
'Is Lucy deliberately making me uncomfortable?'
"Shut up," Seraphina rushed at Lucy menacingly.
Lucy didn't dare to speak.
She knew Seraphina was not to be messed with.
Seraphina didn't look at them and walked straight out the front door.
She didn't want to stay in this house for another minute.
"Seraphina," Magnolia called after her, "Where are you going?"
"None of your business!" Seraphina didn't take Magnolia seriously either.
"You!" Magnolia said.
Dashiell held Magnolia back.
Magnolia was really feeling frustrated and disappointed.
She watched with a grim face as Seraphina walked out the door and slammed it shut.
Seraphina seemed even angrier than she was.
Seraphina was really pissed. She thought, 'Why does Magnolia have to be so harsh on me?
'Who does she think she is?'
Seraphina drove out of the neighborhood in a huff.
She didn't even know where she was going; she just didn't want to stay at home and see Magnolia and Dashiell.
She drove aimlessly through the streets.
She thought, 'Where can I go in the middle of the day?
'The nightclubs aren't even open.'
Just when she was bored out of her mind, her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and answered, "Cecilia."
Cecilia asked, "You're up early today?"
Seraphina responded, "All thanks to Dashiell."
"What happened?" Cecilia asked with interest.
"Nothing. Is there anything?" Seraphina didn't want to say another word.
Nothing had happened anyway, she thought she would forget it immediately.
"I think you should go to work," Cecilia didn't beat around the bush, she said bluntly.
"What?" Seraphina was full of resistance.
"Are you planning to live like this forever?"Cecilia asked.
"Anyway, I don't want to work. The thought of getting up early every day and spending the whole day in a boring office is unbearable," Seraphina replied.
"So you plan to sponge off your parents forever?" Cecilia raised an eyebrow.
Seraphina remained silent.
"Sponge off your parents" was not a good term.
"Let's not go over the past. You're married to Dashiell now, and you've seen his situation—there's no way he can manage House of Everhart Bank anytime soon. So, in the end, it's up to you to handle it."
"There's still a chance for Sebastian and me," Seraphina replied bluntly.
"Chance? How can you say that?" Cecilia's tone turned icy.
Cecilia knew that Seraphina hadn't fully let go of Sebastian, but hearing it directly from her was still unsettling.
"If Dashiell hadn't come in and stolen me away, Sebastian and I would be happily married by now."
"Happy my foot!" Cecilia suddenly swore.
The outburst shocked Seraphina. Cecilia, who usually kept her composure, rarely spoke like this.
Cecilia took a deep breath to steady herself. "If it weren't for Dashiell, I'd have said a lot more."
"What are you getting at?"
"What I'm saying is, you need to get to House of Everhart Bank immediately and stop wasting time. If the Everhart family fortune ends up in someone else's hands, don't come crying to me!"
With that, Cecilia slammed the phone down.
She felt that reasoning with Seraphina was pointless. Seraphina was too fixated on being with Sebastian to care about her responsibilities.
Cecilia decided she needed to take drastic measures. Seraphina often responded better to a firmer approach.
She called Atticus.
"Hello, Cecilia."
Atticus answered warmly. He genuinely cared for Cecilia and often questioned why Seraphina and Cecilia could be so different.
He thought, 'Why could Seraphina be so frustrating while Cecilia is so reasonable?'
"Atticus, I'm calling about getting Seraphina to work at House of Everhart Bank."
"Oh, that's a tough one. Seraphina's so unpredictable."
"I've thought about it, and talking won't work. We need to force her."
"Force her? She doesn't respond to threats."
"No, Atticus, you're just not using the right approach."
"What do you suggest?" Atticus asked eagerly.
"Freeze all of Seraphina's cards. Cut off her access to money. Then tell her she'll only get paid if she shows up for work. If she doesn't, she won't see a dime."
"That…" Atticus hesitated. "Won't that drive a wedge between us?"
"When have you ever been close with Seraphina?" Cecilia retorted.
Atticus was taken aback by the harsh truth.
Cecilia's plan was drastic, but she believed it was the only way to get Seraphina to take responsibility.
