Chapter 241 Agreed to Marry but Not to Sleep Together

"Isn't it just a bit of cold sweat? Is it really that serious?" Seraphina muttered, not very confident but unwilling to admit her mistake.

"Dashiell was lucky this time. If he wasn't, the pain could have made him go into shock!" Magnolia snapped.

Seraphina was clearly shaken. She didn't think forgetting to call the doctor for a painkiller could be that serious.

"Mom, don't scare her," Dashiell chimed in, trying to defend Seraphina.

Magnolia was frustrated. 'Why not make Seraphina feel guilty?' With her level of education, she'd believe anything Magnolia said.

Seraphina did believe it, but now she was confused. She felt like an outsider in their conversation. What were they even talking about?

"I also told Seraphina to sleep," Dashiell added. "I meant to watch the IV myself but fell asleep too. So don't blame her."

"Whatever I say, you always side with her," Magnolia sighed.

Seraphina pursed her lips. Dashiell had always helped her since they were kids.

"Dinner party in a few minutes. You guys can come downstairs after you've washed up," Magnolia said.

"Okay," Dashiell nodded.

As Magnolia left, she warned Seraphina, "I don't want this accident to happen again!"

Seraphina felt wronged. Ever since Magnolia married Atticus, Seraphina had always been the one bullying Magnolia. When did Magnolia get the nerve to treat her like this?

Seraphina started to doubt. 'Was it really right to make Magnolia and Atticus divorce?' Magnolia was clearly getting bolder!

Seraphina was fuming.

"Seraphina, that's enough," Dashiell reminded her, hinting she could stop pressing on the back of his hand.

She quickly let go, noticing a large bruise on his hand. It looked awful.

Dashiell saw her staring and said, "I don't feel anything."

Seraphina bit her lip, staying silent.

"Seraphina, help me up," Dashiell said casually. Despite knowing she disliked him, he acted normally around her.

She wanted to refuse but, seeing the bruise, she bent down to help him. Dashiell was thin but surprisingly heavy. No wonder, he was as tall as a pole; his bones alone must weigh a ton.

The doctor, seeing her struggle, quickly came over to help. Dashiell finally sat safely in the wheelchair.

"Let's go, Seraphina," he said.

"Can you call me Ms. Everhart?" she snapped, irritated. Whenever she showed a bit of kindness to Dashiell, it annoyed her to no end.

"Ms. Everhart," Dashiell corrected himself.

Hearing it made Seraphina even more uncomfortable, but she figured she'd get used to it eventually. The nickname "Seraphina" just didn't fit their relationship.

She pushed Dashiell to the dining hall, which was less crowded. Tonight's dinner was informal; guests could leave after eating.

Seraphina bypassed the main table and headed straight to Alaric and Cecilia's table. They had just arrived.

"Cecilia, did you change your dress?!" Seraphina noticed immediately.

Cecilia was impressed. She had the store send a similar dress with different details, but Seraphina spotted the change right away.

"What did you do this afternoon?" Seraphina teased.

Cecilia blushed. "Stop it, isn't there enough food to shut your mouth?"

Seraphina laughed knowingly, giving Cecilia a look that said she knew everything.

Cecilia was speechless. 'What do you think you know? I haven't even had my first time yet!'

Despite her embarrassment, Cecilia kept her dignity.

The dinner atmosphere was good, thanks to Seraphina's presence.

"Alaric, does Cecilia not have hands? Why do you keep serving her food?" Seraphina couldn't stand it anymore.

Rumor had it Alaric was a player with countless women, never keeping one for more than three months. Had Cecilia really tamed him?

"She had a hard day," Alaric said, making an excuse for her before Cecilia could speak.

"She worked so hard her hands lost their strength? Can't hold the food steady?" Seraphina mocked.

Alaric suddenly put down his utensils and took Cecilia's hand. Seraphina felt goosebumps as he kissed Cecilia's palm.

Cecilia was startled too. 'He must be crazy.'

"Thank you for your hard work," Alaric smiled flirtatiously.

Seraphina shivered. "I can't stand you guys. What's so hard about using one hand?"

Then it hit her. She stared at Cecilia, whose face was blushed.

"You and Dashiell will know after tonight," Alaric said casually.

'He really has no shame,' Seraphina thought.

Cecilia pulled her hand away.

"What do you mean after tonight? Stop saying such scary things, okay?" Seraphina didn't care about Dashiell's feelings. "It will never happen in this lifetime!"

Dashiell, eating slowly, stiffened for a second but then continued as if nothing had happened.

"Seraphina," Cecilia said, "Nothing is forever. Don't make conclusions before the end. Hurry up and eat, then go back early."

Seraphina pouted, unhappy that Cecilia always sided with Dashiell. She wasn't lying; she agreed to marry Dashiell but never agreed to sleep with him!
