Chapter 673 Family Trait
Cecilia, Alaric, and Dashiell headed out after dinner at the Blackburn Mansion.
During dinner, Cassius suddenly blurted out, "Dashiell, did you patch things up with Seraphina?"
Everyone turned to Cassius like he had grown a second head.
Cassius looked confused. "Why are you all staring at me like that? That night, Dashiell was drugged with an aphrodisiac, so I asked Seraphina to keep him company," he explained.
"You and Seraphina are back together?" Cecilia asked, surprised.
If Dashiell and Seraphina had made up, Seraphina would have definitely told Cecilia. There was no way she would keep that a secret.
"No," Dashiell replied coldly. "I have nothing to do with Seraphina."
Cassius frowned. "How is that possible? Did Seraphina not show up that night? I don't have the best impression of her, but she's not that bad. Did I mess up?"
"No," Dashiell said, clearly annoyed. "Stop overthinking it."
"Did Seraphina sleep with you and then bail?" Cassius was getting worked up. It was the only explanation he could think of.
Dashiell was speechless. He knew Cassius wouldn't let it go until he got an answer.
"We didn't sleep together," Dashiell finally said.
"What?" Cassius was even more agitated.
"She came, but we didn't sleep together," Dashiell clarified.
"Why?" Cassius couldn't wrap his head around it.
He had taken aphrodisiacs before, though not by accident like Dashiell. He took them for fun. How could anyone resist that feeling?
"No reason," Dashiell said nonchalantly. "Just didn't want to."
"Didn't want to? Then how did you recover?" Cassius was curious.
"Just recovered," Dashiell said slowly, sipping his soup.
"Just recovered?" Cassius's voice rose. "Dashiell, are you even a man? What guy can just willpower through an aphrodisiac? Are you sick?"
Dashiell was done with Cassius's questions.
"You know that not releasing after taking an aphrodisiac can mess with your sexual function. Dashiell, no matter how strong your willpower is, you can't do that! You're hurting yourself. What were you thinking? I even thought a lot about it, afraid that your cleanliness wouldn't accept anyone else, so I specifically asked Seraphina to sleep with you, but you didn't accept it!" Cassius was completely baffled.
He was getting more and more agitated as he spoke.
Dashiell seemed to be getting annoyed too. He shot back, "Didn't Alaric also rely on willpower to endure the effects of the aphrodisiac before?"
Cassius was stunned.
He looked at Alaric.
Cecilia also looked at Alaric.
Alaric, who had been indifferent, looked a bit embarrassed under their stares. He frowned and said, "I used a photo."
Cecilia frowned. "What photo?"
"What do you think?" Alaric asked Cecilia.
Cecilia felt a bit moved.
So, Alaric had used her photo to relieve his desire after taking the aphrodisiac.
Her face quietly flushed red.
She couldn't even imagine that scene.
"Enough already!" Cassius couldn't stand it anymore. "Stop showing off your love in front of us!"
Cecilia didn't say anything, but she felt a warm current in her heart. The seemingly carefree Alaric had always been loyal to her.
"I really don't get you guys," Cassius sighed. "What are you made of? You're all so different from regular people. Alaric's like this, Dashiell's like this, and even Francis! No wonder I can't keep up!"
"Enough," Hugo cut in, clearly tired of Cassius's rambling. "Just eat quietly."
Cassius knew better than to push it with Hugo around, so he kept his mouth shut.
After dinner, Cecilia, Alaric, and Dashiell headed out together.
As they walked out the door, Dashiell was about to get in the car when Cecilia approached him.
Alaric grabbed her arm. "Take it easy."
Cecilia shot him a look, then shrugged off his hand and walked over to Dashiell.
Dashiell smiled. "Take it easy. Alaric's already on edge."
"Ignore him," Cecilia said, not sparing Alaric a glance. She turned to Dashiell, serious. "What's going on with you and Seraphina? You two..."
"It's just like I said. We didn't sleep together that night, and there's nothing between us now," Dashiell said bluntly.
"Did you turn her down?" Cecilia asked.
It was clear Seraphina would have agreed to help Dashiell, even if she didn't have feelings for him. She was too kind-hearted for her own good.
"Yeah," Dashiell nodded. "I don't want Seraphina messing with my feelings."
Cecilia was at a loss for words.
Last time, Seraphina had told her she didn't know who she really loved.
Dashiell continued, "Don't worry about me and Seraphina. It's better for both of us if we end it completely. I don't have to deal with her shadow in my life, and she doesn't have to feel guilty about Sebastian. We shouldn't have been together in the first place."
Dashiell had said his piece, and Cecilia didn't know what else to say. She selfishly hoped Seraphina and Dashiell could reconcile, but matters of the heart were for those involved to decide.
"I'm doing fine," Dashiell assured her.
Cecilia felt a pang of sadness. Dashiell had been hurt so badly by Seraphina, yet he still said he was fine.
"You and Alaric just focus on being happy. And now that you're pregnant, your mood is the most important. Take care of yourself and the baby. Our whole family will be thrilled. By the way, my mom has always wanted to visit you, but she's worried about being watched and causing suspicion, so she's waiting until Alaric's business is done," Dashiell explained.
"I don't mind," Cecilia smiled.
"Just take good care of yourself," Dashiell said, ending the conversation.
Cecilia returned to Alaric's side as Dashiell drove away.
Watching the taillights disappear, Cecilia couldn't help but say, "Dashiell is just too enduring."
"Maybe it's a family trait," Alaric said, hugging her as they got into the car.
Augustus drove them away.
"If you hadn't approached me, I might have just watched you and Dominic..." Alaric trailed off.
Cecilia didn't want to go there.
In her previous life, Alaric had been outside her world. She hadn't even looked at him seriously.
