Chapter 350 Dashiell is Just a Nice Guy

"Avoid?" Seraphina shot a look at Lucy.

Wait, Dashiell wasn't throwing a fit? He was dodging her?

"Ms. Everhart, Mr. Rainier's actually super nice to you," Lucy piped up, genuinely thinking Mr. Rainier was the best guy ever. "He told me to prepare the oatmeal ahead of time. He was worried you'd be hungry when you woke up. He remembered you liked oatmeal because you had two bowls that morning."

Seraphina pressed her lips together.

She stared at the oatmeal in front of her, suddenly speechless.

"I'm from the sticks. Men there don't treat women this well. They always boss them around. No woman can be as bossy in front of a man as you," Lucy added.

Seraphina's face darkened, and she glared at Lucy.

Lucy, scared but still brave, continued, "Even though the city always talks about gender equality, I've worked for several families. The men would act all nice in public, but in private, they didn't respect their wives. None of them were as indulgent as Mr. Rainier. Even after marriage, he still sleeps in separate rooms and has only slept with you once. You don't know, but one morning I even saw Mr. Rainier washing his own underwear."

When Lucy mentioned washing underwear, Seraphina instantly got it.

Lucy's face turned a bit red. She said, "Mr. Rainier would rather endure it himself than force Ms. Everhart. I don't know if there's another man in the world who could be this good. And Mr. Rainier is so handsome. If I had such a husband, I'd be laughing in my dreams..."

"Get out of here!" Seraphina cut Lucy off, shouting loudly.

She really couldn't listen anymore.

She didn't want to hear anything good about Dashiell right now, but Lucy kept going on and on. Was she deliberately giving her a hard time?

Besides, she wasn't blind. She knew Dashiell was good to her.

And Dashiell wasn't just good to her; he was good to everyone.

When they were kids, Dashiell treated her and Cecilia nicely.

Now, Dashiell was incredibly patient with Lucy, a mere maid, even teaching her French pronunciation one syllable at a time.

Anyway, Dashiell was just a great guy.

She thought, 'So what if he is good?'

She doesn't love him.

No matter what Dashiell did, it was useless!

Seraphina lowered her head and continued eating her oatmeal.

She didn't want to think about it anymore.

She unconsciously glanced at her abdomen.

Damn it!

How did she end up pregnant?

And she couldn't actually do things like abortion at all!

She even wanted to force Dashiell to make that decision for her!

In the quiet hall, there was a sudden knock on the door.

Lucy thought, 'It's so late, who could it be?'

Lucy quickly went to open the door.

At that moment, Seraphina also looked towards the door.

Seeing Atticus, Seraphina's face instantly turned grim.

Seraphina thought, 'So late, what is he doing here?'

She pretended not to see him and continued eating her oatmeal.

Deliberately ignoring the large bags he brought, which instantly filled the entrance.

Atticus had Lucy tidy up, then changed his shoes and walked towards Seraphina, sitting across from her with a loving expression.

Seraphina felt her scalp tingle under Atticus's gaze. "Can you not mess with my meal?"

"I just heard you're pregnant?" Atticus's voice was so soft, like he was scared to spook her.

Seraphina rolled her eyes.

'Dashiell, that big mouth, really spread the news fast!' she thought.

"Congratulations." Seeing Seraphina not respond, Atticus quickly backpedaled, "You don't need to go to work for now. Just stay home and take care of yourself."

Seraphina looked at Atticus, like she couldn't believe her ears.

"You'll still get your allowance and salary, and I'll throw in extra for nutrition each month. Don't overwork yourself," Atticus quickly added.

"Are you sure you don't want me to go to work?" Seraphina asked.

If it weren't for the money, she would never step foot in that boring place.

"When have I ever lied to you? Your top priority now is to take care of yourself and your pregnancy. Don't worry about anything else." Atticus's face was full of affection.

Atticus made no secret of his love for this child.

Seraphina rolled her eyes.

Sure, she was thrilled not to have to go to work.

But seeing Atticus so happy made her inexplicably annoyed.

'Why should I please Atticus? I hated him so much,' she thought.

"By the way, I bought a ton of baby stuff for you. Formula, clothes, toys, the works. If it's not enough, I'll get more." Atticus was clearly over the moon.

"The baby isn't even born yet. Why are you buying all this stuff?" Seraphina was really speechless.

She always questioned her own personality, and now she thought it must be inherited from her dad, being so unreliable!

"Planning ahead. It's not expensive anyway."

Seraphina didn't want to talk to Atticus anymore. "It's late. You should go back."

"I wanted to spend more time with you." Atticus was clearly reluctant to leave.

"Don't spend time with me. Seeing you gives me a headache. If you leave, I'll be in a better mood, which is good for the baby." Seraphina urged him to leave.

"I'm not doing anything..."

"If you don't leave, I'll really get upset!" Seraphina threatened.

Atticus was so scared his face turned pale. He quickly stood up from the chair. "Okay, I'm leaving. Take good care of yourself, okay?"

"Hurry up and go." Seraphina urged.

As Atticus was leaving, he suddenly thought of something. "Why don't you move back to the villa? There are more servants there to take care of you, and the villa is bigger. You can take walks and..."

"Do you know the only thing that made me happy about marrying Dashiell?" Seraphina interrupted her dad.

"You have a child." Atticus blurted out.

Seraphina almost spat blood. She said word by word, "It's that I could leave you and not live under the same roof as you."

Atticus was clearly hurt, but Seraphina felt no guilt.

"It's late at night, tell the driver to be careful." Seraphina couldn't help but say as Atticus walked towards the door.

Atticus couldn't believe what he heard. He turned to look at Seraphina.

"I'm afraid if you die, I won't be able to sponge off you anymore."

"Hurry up and go!" Seraphina was annoyed.

Atticus left with a smile. He said, "Don't worry, you can count on me for another 30 years, no problem."

She thought, 'Who wants you to live that long!'
