Chapter 330 Walk the Bitch's Path and Leave Her No Way Out
"How could that be? You're Alaric's sister, which means you're my sister too. The past is behind us, and there's no such thing as overnight grudges between family members," Cecilia quickly chimed in.
She thought, 'Isn't it just playing along?
I could do that too.'
"With Cecilia saying that, I'm relieved. I was really afraid that what happened before would affect our family's feelings..." Emily seemed to have a habit of speaking in a way that was always on the verge of saying more.
She looked worried and scared, combined with her frail appearance.
She really looked pitiful.
Cecilia smiled slightly, "Of course not. By the way, since Mom and Emily rarely come over, let's have lunch together here. I'll ask George to prepare more food."
"Okay. Thank you, Cecilia," Emily quickly agreed.
Cecilia knew the woman wasn't planning to leave immediately, so she might as well do a favor.
She smiled slightly, got up, and walked towards George, who was busy in the hall.
Arabella looked at Cecilia's back with a face full of relief and said, "Alaric, Cecilia is really a good wife."
A smile was visible at the corner of Alaric's mouth.
Emily saw this and felt very displeased.
She was jealous of Cecilia.
And when she was jealous of someone, she wouldn't let her have an easy time.
She said, "Mom, I want to spend some time alone with Cecilia."
"That's fine, but take care of yourself. The doctor said your heart hasn't been well lately," Arabella reminded Emily.
"I know, I'll be careful."
With that, she got up and walked towards Cecilia, who had just finished talking with George.
Cecilia watched Emily approach, her eyebrows twitching.
It wasn't that she was afraid of Emily.
Since she was Alaric's family, she didn't want to hurt their family's feelings.
"Cecilia, can you show me around? I've never been to Alaric's place and don't know my way around," Emily appeared very friendly.
"Sure," Cecilia responded warmly.
Anyway, she could handle any situation with ease, especially when dealing with someone contemptible."
Cecilia led Emily through the hall and towards the backyard.
As they walked, Cecilia introduced the surroundings, "This is the swimming pool, it's heated, so even if you fall in, you won't feel cold. The important thing is, Alaric is afraid I'll drown, so it's not deep. The deepest part should only reach your neck."
Even if Emily attempted tricky moves and stumbled into the pool, she would not drown, provided she understood her actions.
Emily clearly understood Cecilia's implication and smiled subtly, "Alaric is really good to you."
"Yes, he is. He knows I don't like exercising, so he even had a tennis court built, but I'm too busy to use it. Look, it's over there," Cecilia pointed.
Emily smiled without saying anything.
"There's also a sunroom over here, filled with flowers. Alaric knows I love roses, so there are all kinds of roses. Emily, would you like to take a look?" Cecilia appeared very enthusiastic.
No one could see that she was unwelcoming to Emily.
"Sure," Emily was also good at pretending.
Cecilia guided Emily into the room filled with flowers, even surprising herself upon first sight.
She always thought it was strange for a man like Alaric to enjoy gardening.
"Be careful, roses have thorns," Cecilia warned Emily as she reached out to pick one.
Emily didn't stop.
"If you like, I can ask George to pick one for you," Cecilia said. "By the way, there are cameras all over this flower room. Since I don't have time to enjoy it, Alaric had cameras installed so I can watch anytime, even when I'm not home." Cecilia reminded.
Emily's hand, reaching for the rose thorn, paused and then withdrew. Her expression changed slightly.
Cecilia smiled lightly.
"There are other flowers besides roses. Emily, follow me this way."
Emily followed Cecilia around the villa.
Soon, it was time for lunch.
Cecilia warmly invited Arabella and Emily, "I know Emily doesn't like seasonings, so I specifically asked George not to use any. Emily, you can eat without worry."
"Thank you," Emily smiled insincerely.
Actually, Emily was starting to lose her composure.
She probably came today looking for trouble, but she didn't find any opportunity and had to watch Cecilia shine.
"Thank you so much, Cecilia. Mom always thought you were the only child in the Lockhart family, a spoiled princess, but I didn't expect you to be so considerate. Alaric is really lucky to have you," Arabella praised generously.
"Alaric is also very good to me. It's mutual between a couple," Cecilia said, blushing slightly.
Elders couldn't resist a daughter-in-law who was both capable and considerate.
Arabella quickly said, "You should eat more too, eat more."
"Okay," Cecilia smiled.
It made Emily very unhappy.
"Cecilia, thank you for your hospitality. George's cooking is delicious. You should eat more too, don't just take care of me." As she spoke, she even put a piece of matsutake mushroom in Cecilia's bowl.
Emily wanted to show off and didn't want Cecilia to steal all the spotlight.
Cecilia smiled slightly, "Thank you, Emily."
She forked it up, intending to eat it.
At that moment, Alaric stopped her with his chopsticks.
Cecilia looked at him.
"Aren't you allergic to mushrooms?" Alaric's face turned grim, "Matsutake is also a type of mushroom!"
Cecilia thought, 'I had never told Alaric.
How did he know?'
Of course.
She wouldn't really eat it.
She originally planned to bring it to her mouth and then put it down, showing that she didn't want to refuse but had no choice but to contrast with Emily. After all, she knew all of Emily's dislikes, but Emily didn't know she was allergic to mushrooms.
Now that Alaric had done this, the effect was even better.
Arabella quickly asked, "Cecilia, are you allergic to mushrooms?"
"Yes, I've been allergic since I was a child."
"Then why did you still eat it? You should take better care of yourself. Allergies can be serious. What if something happens? How would I explain it to your parents?" Arabella looked worried.
"I was just afraid Emily would think I didn't like her if I refused her offering. Besides, I was really happy that Emily was so kind to me, so I thought a little bit wouldn't hurt," Cecilia explained, appearing both generous and considerate.
