Chapter 346 I Won't Keep This Child
Seraphina just started bawling her eyes out, like the world was ending or something.
Hooking up with Dashiell had already messed her up big time, and now she was knocked up with his kid.
She felt like she might as well be dead.
"I know you're feeling like crap." Cecilia tried to calm her down. "but the kid ain't just yours. You can't be all selfish and make the call alone. How about this, go back and talk it out with Dashiell. Even if you don't want the kid, at least let him know."
Seraphina could never win an argument with Cecilia.
Whenever Cecilia got all serious, Seraphina felt like she was always wrong and Cecilia was always right.
Cecilia dragged Seraphina to the doc's office again, asked about her condition, and the doc gave a super professional response. Medically, it was still a toss-up whether booze messed with the baby. Basically, it was a roll of the dice—if there was a problem, it couldn't be avoided; if not, then no biggie. But usually, it was all good.
After seeing the doc, Cecilia took Seraphina back home.
Since finding out she was pregnant, Seraphina had been a total wreck.
A once lively and cheerful girl had suddenly deflated, becoming utterly bummed out.
Cecilia glanced at Seraphina, knowing that saying anything now would be pointless. Better to let her chill.
Maybe once Seraphina calmed down, she'd figure things out.
Cecilia whipped out her phone and shot a message to Dashiell.
Just to give him a heads-up.
"Cecilia," Seraphina suddenly spoke up.
Cecilia had just sent the message and almost jumped out of her skin at Seraphina's voice.
It was like she got caught doing something shady.
Obviously, Seraphina hadn't seen anything.
"I wanna go find Sebastian," Seraphina said straight up.
Cecilia's face went pale. "You think talking to him will help?"
"I don't know, but I just wanna see him. I can't stand the sight of Dashiell right now," Seraphina replied.
"And you think seeing Sebastian will make you feel better? It won't. It'll just make things worse," Cecilia analyzed seriously. "Are you gonna tell Sebastian you're pregnant or not? If you do, what do you expect him to say? To keep the baby or to hear him say to abort it?"
Seraphina bit her lip.
Every time she acted on impulse, Cecilia would always manage to talk her down.
"Whatever he's gonna say, you wouldn't wanna hear it. So why go to him now?" Cecilia said bluntly.
Seraphina leaned back in her seat.
She really wanted to just bash her head into something.
The car still pulled up at the apartment where Seraphina and Dashiell lived.
Cecilia walked Seraphina back.
They stepped into the house.
Dashiell was chilling on the couch.
The TV was playing some cartoon.
Cecilia couldn't help but smile.
She thought, 'Has Dashiell already gotten into the dad role so quick?'
Cecilia was about to say something.
"Cecilia, zip it!" Seraphina suddenly snapped.
Seraphina clearly didn't want Cecilia to spill the beans to Dashiell.
Cecilia pressed her lips together.
She went along with Seraphina.
After all, she had already given him a heads-up.
But Seraphina's actions were kinda harsh on Dashiell.
Cecilia didn't even look at Dashiell's reaction, just watched Seraphina storm off to her room.
She quickly followed, stepping into the room with Seraphina.
Seraphina flopped onto the bed, still visibly torn up.
"Chill for a bit, and talk to Dashiell about the baby later," Cecilia said softly.
Cecilia knew Seraphina had been through the wringer today.
"Cecilia," Seraphina said, lying on the bed and looking at her, "I really don't want this baby."
Cecilia pressed her lips together.
"I don't have any feelings for Dashiell. Having this baby would only mess things up more. Instead of bringing a kid into a messed-up family and making it suffer, it's better to end it now and avoid all the pain later." Seraphina suddenly got real serious.
When Seraphina got serious, it meant she was genuinely considering something.
"If you're worried about the kid being unhappy, the best way isn't to deprive him of the right to be born, but to create a happy environment for him. You can choose to live well with Dashiell, you can choose to love Dashiell..."
"But I don't love him."
"Have you even tried?" Cecilia asked.
"I don't need to try."
"If you haven't tried, you got no convincing argument. Seraphina, remember, you're married to Dashiell now. You and Dashiell are a couple, there's no way out. There's no such thing as waiting for Dashiell to figure it out and divorce you. If Dashiell never figures it out, you'll be stuck together, maybe for a lifetime," Cecilia persuaded.
"No way, I won't be with him for a lifetime."
"Was getting married what you wanted?" Cecilia asked her.
"Of course not."
"But you still got married," Cecilia said bluntly.
Seraphina felt a pang in her chest.
"So divorce isn't something you can just decide to do. And to be even more straightforward, your current mindset is not only harmful to your relationship with Dashiell but also to Sebastian. You've been giving Sebastian hope, but have you thought about it? If you really end up stuck with Dashiell for a lifetime, are you planning to let Sebastian wait for you alone forever?" Cecilia decided to try a different approach.
Seraphina was more receptive to gentle persuasion.
At this moment, Cecilia's words were making Seraphina uncomfortable.
"Seraphina, don't be so selfish. You can't just think about yourself all the time! Sometimes, you have to consider whether the people who care about you will be hurt by your impulsiveness," Cecilia said earnestly, watching Seraphina's emotional changes. "Seraphina, although everything that's happening now isn't your choice, but ultimately, you married Dashiell, had sex, got pregnant. You did all the things that a couple does. Do you really think you can just walk away from this marriage? If I were you, with everything having reached this point, I would choose to let go. Let go of your prejudice against Dashiell, let go of your feelings for Sebastian, and start fresh."
"But I can't accept it." Seraphina's eyes reddened.
She knew Cecilia's right.
Given how far things had gone with Dashiell, she had no right to go back to Sebastian. Even if Sebastian said he would always wait for her, from her perspective, she couldn't just act like nothing had happened and be with Sebastian without any issues.
What she couldn't accept wasn't her unrequited love for Sebastian.
What she couldn't accept was that Dashiell had used such dirty tricks, and in the end, she had to let go of everything and start a new life with Dashiell.
She thought, 'Why should Dashiell get to live the life he wants?'
While she and Sebastian had to let go of everything to fulfill his wishes!
