Chapter 688 Cruelty (10) Sowing Discord
"Mr. Monroe just wants to make you happy," Alaric said, defending Tomas.
"I know he means well, but he never understands what I really want," Juniper replied with a hint of dissatisfaction.
"Maybe you'll understand your parents' good intentions once you become a mother."
"Really?" Juniper turned to look at Alaric.
Every time she faced Alaric, she felt a sense of awe.
She said, "I heard Cecilia is pregnant?"
"Yes," Alaric nodded.
"Do you and Cecilia have a good relationship?"
"Very good."
"How did you two attract each other?"
"Maybe it was just fate," Alaric clearly didn't want to elaborate.
Juniper nodded, "That is indeed important."
Just like her and her boyfriend, it was love at first sight.
She wondered if people who fall in love at first sight are also easily swayed.
Because love at first sight is really just an attraction to someone's appearance.
The next time they meet someone better, it will be the same.
Juniper glanced at Alaric again.
She felt she shouldn't agree to Tomas's request.
Alaric was someone who could easily make people like him.
She walked ahead with large strides.
Alaric quietly followed behind her.
Some people around them were watching them.
Alaric had actually noticed this a long time ago.
Not just in the small garden, but even in the banquet hall earlier, countless people were monitoring him.
And now, even more so.
He had actually guessed that it was all arranged by the Monroe family.
They deliberately arranged it so that when he took the blame, there would be a reasonable explanation.
He fell in love with Juniper, so he assassinated Gideon. After all, the Hotchner family and the Monroe family had always had a marriage agreement, even though they never brought it up. However, the public always speculated about Gideon and Juniper, saying that the Monroe family protected Juniper so well just to marry her off to Gideon.
And now, Alaric fell in love with Juniper, so he killed Gideon. It made perfect sense.
Alaric could guess everything, and he could only follow the direction they wanted.
The Hotchner Mansion.
Gideon looked at the latest intelligence, a noticeable smile on his lips.
He took the photos and walked towards the small courtyard where Cecilia lived.
He had been frequently visiting this courtyard lately.
He didn't really chat much with Cecilia.
Sometimes it seemed like he just wanted someone to keep him company.
From childhood to adulthood, no one had truly kept him company, and no one had ever spoken sincerely to him.
Of course, Cecilia's words weren't sincere either.
But at least Cecilia wasn't hypocritical.
When he walked into the courtyard, Cecilia was still sitting on the rocking chair, leisurely basking in the sun.
Cecilia was indeed living quite comfortably.
Cecilia sensed Gideon's footsteps but didn't get up.
She was used to Gideon's occasional visits.
"Do you know what good thing I saw today?" Gideon asked.
"Is it a good thing for me?"
"Probably not."
"Then can I choose not to know?"
"No." Cecilia chuckled lightly.
So all the words she said were pointless.
"Alaric and Juniper from the Monroe family were acting intimately," Gideon said deliberately.
Cecilia was wearing large sunglasses.
Gideon couldn't see the change in her eyes, but the smile on her lips clearly stiffened.
"Are you scared?"
Cecilia pursed her lips and didn't speak.
"Do you want to see the pictures? They're high-definition," Gideon said.
"No need."
"Juniper and Lyra look completely different," Gideon deliberately provoked.
"I'm not interested."
"You're just too confident in your looks!" Gideon concluded.
"That's a fact."
"But Juniper doesn't win with her looks; it's her innate pure aura. Most people can't resist it. I've met her a few times before and was also attracted to her. Unfortunately, Juniper was too young at the time, so I couldn't express my feelings," Gideon commented.
Cecilia didn't really want to listen.
"Isn't it normal for men to like many women?" Gideon asked Cecilia.
"Are you just trying to tell me that Alaric betrayed me?" Cecilia took off her sunglasses and looked at Gideon.
It was the first time Gideon saw such intense anger in Cecilia's eyes.
He had always thought Cecilia was frighteningly calm.
Cecilia's sudden demeanor made him inexplicably excited.
He even thought that this version of Cecilia seemed cuter.
Of course, he wouldn't show these emotions.
"Seeing you unhappy makes me quite happy."
Cecilia gritted her teeth, "Are you crazy?"
Gideon wasn't angry at Cecilia's curse.
Instead, he felt even better.
He said, "Cecilia, if Alaric really betrayed you, what would you do?"
"What can I do?" Cecilia sneered, "It's not like I haven't been betrayed before."
"Are you talking about Dominic?" Gideon looked at Cecilia, "If I remember correctly, Dominic was abandoned by you."
Cecilia glanced at Gideon but didn't explain.
Gideon probably guessed that there were many untold secrets.
But those weren't important.
He said, "Cecilia, didn't you ask me before how you could avoid being killed by distancing yourself from Alaric?"
Cecilia's eyes moved slightly, showing obvious anticipation.
Gideon suddenly found himself liking Cecilia.
He was actually emotionally affected by a change in Cecilia's expression.
From childhood to adulthood, he had never been affected by anyone like this.
He pretended not to notice his psychological change and said calmly, "I can grant you that."
Cecilia looked skeptical.
"I've been thinking about this issue for the past few days. After all, killing you doesn't benefit me, and since you're useful to me, there's no need to kill you," Gideon said. "I have something I've wanted for a long time. If you help me get it, I'll promise not to kill you."
"What is it?" Cecilia asked.
"You'll know in a couple of days," Gideon kept the suspense.
Cecilia pursed her lips, trying not to appear too eager.
"Get some rest, and don't let down Alaric's deep affection," Gideon deliberately mocked.
He placed the photos on the table in front of her.
Several high-definition photos were laid out in front of Cecilia.
The images showed Alaric and Juniper interacting.
The way Alaric looked at Juniper.
Cecilia's throat moved slightly. It would be a lie to say she wasn't angry.
Even if she knew Alaric was pretending, she still felt emotional.
Augustus, who had been by Cecilia's side, naturally saw it too.
He whispered, "Mrs. Whitaker, Mr. Whitaker would never betray you."
Cecilia didn't know.
She only knew that the only thing she could do for Alaric was to desperately save herself, so Alaric wouldn't have any worries and wouldn't become an obstacle on Alaric's path to success.
As for everything else, leave it to fate!
