Chapter 810 Lyra Causes Trouble
"We worked through the night again yesterday," Rose continued to sob. "Everyone is exhausted, but no one dares to go rest. Lyra, on the other hand, after tormenting us, went back to sleep."
"It's been like this all week. She tortures us, then happily goes about her life. It's obvious she's making things difficult on purpose, yet she shamelessly posts on News Feed saying 'Another sleepless night,' making it seem like she's working so hard. I really want to throw a cup of coffee in her face. Just seeing her makes me sick!"
Cecilia pressed her lips together.
At this rate, the Lockhart Group would be run into the ground by Lyra sooner or later.
She said, "Rose, I'll call you later."
"Ms. Lockhart, I didn't mean for you to help us with anything. I just needed someone to talk to. I see everyone under so much pressure, so tense, and I'm afraid my complaints might cause internal turmoil in the company. Don't worry too much. We will still do our best at the Lockhart Group and won't let you and Mr. Lockhart down."
"I understand," Cecilia replied. "We'll talk later."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Cecilia called Dashiell.
"Cecilia."
"Aren't you responsible for the Lockhart Group anymore?" Cecilia asked.
"Not exactly. But since Lyra is there, and because of the Monroe family's influence, I try to intervene as little as possible."
"So you're saying that as long as someone from the Monroe family is involved, you'll let Lyra do whatever she wants?"
"That's not what I mean. But to avoid unnecessary conflicts with the Monroe family, sometimes we have to relinquish some control..."
"Alright, I understand."
"Cecilia," Dashiell sensed Cecilia's emotions, "if you're unhappy, you could call Alaric. He might be able to explain some things..."
"No need," Cecilia refused directly. "Sometimes I feel like asking him is less effective than asking you."
Dashiell was speechless.
"When you can't solve it, I'll find a way myself."
She hung up the phone.
Dashiell looked at his phone, feeling a bit helpless.
He knew what Lyra was doing at the Lockhart Group, and so did Alaric.
They weren't letting her do whatever she wanted just because of the Monroe family's influence.
They were waiting for the right moment to force the Monroe family out of business affairs.
Dashiell's eyes narrowed as he dialed another number, "What's the situation with Lyra?"
"We've been collecting evidence against her. I'll send it to you."
"Alright."
Dashiell put down his phone.
As he did, he paused.
He saw Seraphina's name in his contacts.
He felt a surge of impulse but restrained himself.
Seraphina really just left like that!
She hadn't come back in all this time!
Not a single call or message!
Dashiell put his phone aside and got back to work.
Cecilia called Rose again.
Rose answered, "Ms. Lockhart."
"Just call me Cecilia from now on."
Rose couldn't bring herself to do it.
Cecilia didn't dwell on it. She said directly, "Lyra's actions are mostly just strict work demands. Even if exposed, she could cry to the media about wanting to do a good job, which wouldn't affect her much and might even gain her sympathy."
Rose was a bit confused.
Cecilia asked, "Has Lyra said anything particularly hurtful?"
Rose thought for a moment, "Yes, she has."
"Like what?"
"She said we've been working so long, our thinking is outdated, rigid, and lacking constructive ideas. It's very demoralizing."
"That's not enough."
"Ms. Lockhart, what do you mean?" Rose was puzzled.
"If you can't stand Lyra, find a way to get rid of her."
"Get rid of her? How? I heard she was directly appointed, and with the Monroe family's background! Besides, I heard Mr. Whitaker and Juniper are..." Rose trailed off, afraid of hurting Cecilia.
Cecilia already knew.
Recently, there had been a lot of news about Alaric and Juniper together.
So the gossip had increased.
"So we need external forces to make her leave," Cecilia said without much emotion.
She had known for a long time and didn't care anymore.
Rose still didn't understand.
She just felt that with Lyra's strong background, she could do whatever she wanted at the Lockhart Group, and no one could stop her.
Rose vented to Cecilia, not really expecting her to do anything.
Previously, Rose hadn't noticed much or understood why Cecilia suddenly left the Lockhart Group.
Now, because of the news about Alaric and Juniper, she understood more. Although the news didn't say much, it was clear to anyone that Alaric and Juniper were close.
Who would have thought Alaric was such a jerk!
"Do as I say..." Cecilia instructed Rose step by step.
The more Rose listened, the more shocked she became.
Cecilia was still Cecilia, not someone to be trifled with.
After Cecilia finished, she said, "Keep in touch. If anything happens, let me know immediately. If Lyra finds out, it will be hard to handle."
"Okay," Rose agreed quickly.
Cecilia gave a few more instructions before hanging up.
She turned to look at the TV screen.
Besides watching entertainment news, she also watched current events.
She often saw Alaric on TV, always with Juniper by his side.
How many months pregnant was Juniper?
Didn't Alaric worry about her health?
Cecilia turned off the TV.
She couldn't say she didn't care at all.
Even the baby seemed to react a bit.
She touched her belly and went for a walk in the backyard.
George, who had been with Cecilia, felt a bit sorry for her seeing her alone at home.
Especially when he saw her staring blankly at the TV screen, with little emotion on her face, he could still sense her inner sadness.
Cecilia couldn't resist but had to accept it.
Who knew when this would end?
When would Alaric make everything right again?
When would he and Cecilia truly be together?
