Chapter 467 The Game (12) Coercion

Sebastian's face twisted up.

He never thought he'd get busted this fast.

He didn't even take Dashiell seriously.

To him, Dashiell was a nobody without Atticus backing him up, yet he exposed his shady moves with lightning speed.

"You handled the Kingsley Group's billion-dollar loan, right?" Dashiell asked.

"What are you getting at?" Sebastian's face was dark as a storm cloud.

Getting caught by Dashiell with proof? That was bad news.

"According to Everhart Bank's rules, if it's your screw-up, it's either a demotion or you're out. If it's collusion, then it's a crime," Dashiell laid it out straight.

Sebastian's face was still grim.

He balled up his fists, glaring daggers at Dashiell.

With Dashiell hating his guts, he'd definitely hand him over to the cops.

This mess involved the Kingsley Group, and they sure as hell wouldn't take the fall. They'd pin it on him, and he had no proof he didn't know about it, making a conviction almost certain.

Sebastian had thought he had time.

He never saw himself getting caught by Dashiell this quick, crushing him before he even realized what was happening.

Dashiell watched Sebastian's face twist with emotions and said, "I can help you."

Sebastian looked at Dashiell like he'd grown a second head.

He sneered, "What? Dashiell, with our history, you'd help me? You probably want me dead!"

"You're overthinking it," Dashiell said coolly.

"Why? I took the woman you loved most; you should be hoping I drop dead! Don't act all nice; do whatever you want!" Sebastian spat out.

"Yeah, I once loved Seraphina, but that's old news. Now I got my own life, and our past is just that—past. I'm not doing this to get back at you. You're talented, and you've been with Everhart Bank for years. Losing you would be a hit for the bank. I also see your value."

Sebastian eyed him, still not buying that Dashiell would help him.

"The Kingsley Group used fake property certificates to get the loan. Since our bank and the Kingsley Group are tight, we didn't dig deep into the assets they provided. Given how urgent their request was, we just handed over the loan. Later, you, the handler, checked the files and found out the property certificates were fake. We're now suing the Kingsley Group, demanding they pay back the billion-dollar loan with interest," Dashiell explained, laying out the plan.

Sebastian glared at Dashiell, "You mean I should take the Kingsley Group to court."

"First, it clears you of being an accomplice. Second, you can make up for it. Even though there was a screw-up, you caught it in time and took action. I think the board will go easy on you," Dashiell explained.

"Won't the Kingsleys come after me for this?" Sebastian blurted out.

Dashiell shot him a look.

So, Sebastian was definitely in bed with the Kingsley Family.

"This is my plan. Think it over. If you don't go with it, I'll hand the evidence to the authorities. They'll decide if you're just sloppy or a criminal," Dashiell said straight up.

The ball was in Sebastian's court now.

"If you don't give me an answer by next Monday, I'm going to the cops." Dashiell set the deadline. "And one more thing: don't even think about running to the Kingsley Family. If you do, you'll be the fall guy! You get what I'm saying!"

Sebastian went quiet.

"You can go now," Dashiell said coldly.

Sebastian gave Dashiell a look.

It wasn't just about getting caught; it was how Dashiell handled it all cool and collected.

Not flashy, but definitely intimidating.

Even a seasoned guy like Sebastian felt the heat.

With that, he left and headed back to his office.

Seraphina was lounging on his couch, playing a game. She looked up, surprised, "Back already?"

Usually, meetings dragged on for at least an hour.

This one was under twenty minutes.

"Got it sorted out quick."

"What was it about?" Seraphina asked, eyes still on her game.

"Nothing major."

"And he came to you alone?" Seraphina was a bit miffed. "Power trip much."

Sebastian didn't say anything.

He sat in his chair, pretending to work, but his mind was racing with what Dashiell had just laid on him.

It felt like a trap.

If he took Dashiell's advice, his dreams of climbing up with the Kingsley Family were toast.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got.

Right now, he wanted to rip Dashiell apart!

After sending Sebastian off, Dashiell called Cecilia, "I talked to Sebastian."

"That was quick," Cecilia sounded surprised.

"Better to handle it early and avoid overthinking," Dashiell said.

"I mean, you decided fast."

"Nothing to think about; I knew what I was gonna do from the start," Dashiell said calmly.

"Alright." Cecilia asked, "What did Sebastian say?"

"I gave him time to mull it over. But knowing him, he'll probably sue the Kingsley Group," Dashiell said.

"So, the Kingsley Group will have to cough up the billion-dollar loan and deal with fraud charges!"

"Yep," Dashiell nodded.

"Good, leave the rest to me. Keep an eye on Sebastian," Cecilia ordered.

"Got it."

After hanging up, Cecilia's eyes narrowed.

This time, the Kingsley Group was in for a major hit!

After dealing with Sebastian, Dashiell didn't stick around the office.

His stomach was still acting up, so he decided to head home and rest.

He got in the elevator and hit the button for the underground parking garage.

When he reached the first floor, the doors opened.

Dashiell saw Seraphina standing there.

She hesitated for a second when she saw him but then stepped in.
