Chapter 825 Juniper's Performance
Cecilia calmly continued eating.
She didn't show any reaction to the two additional people at the table.
At the relatively quiet dining table, Juniper suddenly spoke, "Cecilia, I'm sorry."
Cecilia pursed her lips.
She looked at Juniper.
What was she apologizing for?
She never thought that what happened between her and Alaric had anything to do with a third party. The current situation was solely because of Alaric.
So Alaric bringing Juniper here was just Alaric's business.
It had nothing to do with Juniper.
After all, if Alaric didn't agree, Juniper wouldn't be here.
She had thought through many things very clearly.
Cecilia hadn't spoken yet.
Juniper explained, "I heard that Lyra scratched your neck."
So Juniper was only apologizing for Lyra scratching her neck, not for showing up at this villa and disturbing her.
Alaric must have forgotten that he had already given this villa to her.
But in the end.
Alaric's things, he could take back whenever he wanted.
Cecilia said indifferently, "It's nothing. After ruining Lyra's reputation like that, her scratching me a few times is nothing."
She admitted again that she was responsible for what happened to Lyra.
After she said it, Alaric looked up at Cecilia.
Seeing her cold and calm demeanor, he chose to remain silent.
"You can't be blamed for what happened to Lyra. When I saw the exposed video of her, I couldn't believe it was something Lyra could do. If she hadn't provoked you to the extreme, you wouldn't have gone to such lengths. In the end, it's Lyra's fault. In the end, it's because Lyra wasn't as skilled."
Juniper appeared very magnanimous.
Cecilia didn't say anything more.
What Juniper really thought was her own business; she didn't actually care.
"I'll be returning to Astralton City tomorrow," Juniper changed the subject, "I'm staying here tonight because I want to see Lyra before I go back tomorrow. Alaric wasn't comfortable with me staying at a hotel alone, so he asked me to stay here for the night. Plus, I really wanted to eat George's cooking, so I came. I hope you don't mind."
"I don't mind," Cecilia smiled, a genuinely relaxed smile, "You can stay wherever you want."
Even the master bedroom could be vacated for you and Alaric.
There were many things Cecilia didn't say out loud.
She felt that a mistress shouldn't talk too much in front of Alaric's wife.
"Alaric said you wouldn't mind, and I didn't quite believe it," Juniper smiled lightly, "Hearing you say it yourself, I feel relieved."
Cecilia smiled faintly again.
If she wasn't relieved, she wouldn't have come.
Forget it.
If Juniper wanted to put on a show, she would give her enough opportunity to do so.
During the meal.
Juniper occasionally spoke to Cecilia, and Cecilia would respond a few words.
It seemed very harmonious.
After dinner.
Juniper stretched and said, "I'm a bit tired and want to go to bed."
"George," Alaric called to the busy George, "make Ms. Monroe a cup of hot milk."
"Yes, Mr. Whitaker," George quickly responded.
Juniper smiled at Alaric, "You always remember, and I always forget."
"After a whole day on the plane, go to your room and rest well."
"I'm not actually tired. I slept the whole way, and you took care of me, so I don't feel tired at all," Juniper said with a smile.
Alaric responded with a sound.
"Then I'll go to my room," Juniper was very perceptive.
Seeing that Alaric didn't want to say more, she didn't say more either.
A woman as considerate and understanding as Juniper, with such a privileged background, was unlikely to be rejected by any man.
Juniper went upstairs first.
Cecilia had slept too long and wasn't sleepy at all.
She went for a walk in the backyard.
Alaric silently followed her.
They hadn't seen each other for a month and didn't know how to interact.
Cecilia didn't know how to interact with Alaric either.
Too enthusiastic, and he would think she was insincere.
Too cold, and she would be failing as a mistress.
"Cecilia," Alaric spoke up when Cecilia was feeling conflicted.
As he spoke, he reached out and took her hand in his.
Cecilia didn't pull away.
Even though her whole body was rejecting it.
"Yes?" Cecilia responded.
"Regarding Lyra, the Monroe family won't retaliate against you," Alaric said.
He seemed to be explaining why Dashiell had her admit to it.
"I did it, so if they want to retaliate against me, it's only fair," Cecilia said calmly.
One should take responsibility for their actions.
She hadn't intended to make her actions public.
But if it had to be made public, she never thought of letting others take the blame for her.
"Juniper will leave for Astralton City tomorrow. She was supposed to leave today, but the Monroe family wanted her to see Lyra, so she stayed one more night," Alaric explained again.
"Juniper already mentioned it during dinner, so you don't need to explain again."
She believed what Juniper said.
More than she believed him.
Alaric nodded, seemingly at a loss for words.
When they were alone, it seemed there was only awkwardness left.
Despite the awkwardness, Alaric still held her hand, accompanying her in the backyard, walking slowly, round and round.
In a guest room on the second floor.
A woman stood on the balcony.
Because the room was dark, in the dark night, it was impossible to notice there was someone there.
Juniper stood there, watching the two figures in the garden merge into one under the dim streetlight.
Today, coming back from abroad.
Alaric hadn't consulted anyone and directly returned to Serenovia City. If she hadn't said she wanted to see Lyra, Alaric would have sent her back to Astralton City alone.
To Alaric.
Cecilia was always his top priority.
Today, with what happened to Lyra, she should have been the most affected, but Alaric's concern was only for Cecilia.
He didn't ask her a single question.
Seeing Cecilia and Alaric together now, her jealousy was evident.
Her eyes moved slightly.
The phone rang.
She walked back inside from the balcony, closing the door and window.
"Dad," Juniper answered the phone.
"Are you in Serenovia City?"
"Yes," Juniper said, "I'll see Lyra tomorrow."
"Teach her a lesson."
"I know," Juniper agreed.
"She almost made me die of anger," Tomas said angrily, "I've never been so humiliated in my life."
"If it weren't for Cecilia, Lyra wouldn't have ended up like this."
"You believe Cecilia did it?" Tomas said coldly.
"It should be her," Juniper said directly, "I came to see Cecilia today. I think with Cecilia's personality, if she didn't do it, she wouldn't take the blame so easily."
