Chapter 254 He's a Fool

However, Alaric was a fool.

He forced himself to stop.

In the heat of the moment, Alaric took the initiative to stop.

Cecilia lay beneath him, watching him panting heavily.

Her cheeks were also flushed, and under Alaric's influence, she too was tinged with a hint of desire.

She stared intently at Alaric.

At that moment, she even bit her lip lightly.

God knew how seductive that action was.

"Aren't you going to continue?" Cecilia asked, her voice tinged with frustration as she watched Alaric, clearly struggling to hold back.

In that instant, Alaric abruptly got off the bed and walked into the bathroom.

Cecilia lay there, staring at the ceiling. She wondered, 'Is this what disappointment feels like?

'I actually had a bit of hope for Alaric.

'His sudden departure left me feeling somewhat empty.

'Am I feeling… abandoned?

'Is it my pride?

'After all this, Alaric still hasn't slept with me. Is it really that I'm not charming enough?

'Or maybe it's just like Dominic said—I'm cold and unappealing in bed, unable to attract any man.'

Cecilia took a deep breath.

Actually, she didn't care that much.

It wasn't really a big deal—just a fleeting emotion.

She got up from the bed.

They were supposed to sleep in separate rooms, and if she hadn't been sexually aroused by Alaric, she would have been showering and lying in bed thinking about things by now.

Thinking about Theodore's situation still made her a bit anxious.

As she reached the door, Alaric called out from behind her, "Where are you going?"

"Sleeping separately."Cecilia replied.

"Are you mad?" Alaric teased as he walked up to her.

"No," Cecilia said. "I originally stayed with you because you couldn't take care of yourself. Now that you're mostly fine, there's no need for us to share a room."

"You are mad,"  Alaric used a declarative sentence this time.

"Alaric, don't you understand what I'm saying?" Cecilia's tone was a bit heavy.

And she thought, 'How does he get the idea I'm upset?!'

"Ms. Lockhart, you may not know, but whenever you're mad, you look very calm and reasonable," Alaric smirked. "Just like now."

"Bullshit," Cecilia didn't want to talk to Alaric.

She thought she was simply wasting her time.

She yanked open the door, determined to leave.

As soon as the door opened, it was slammed shut with a loud bang.

"Alaric!" Cecilia shouted at him, "I'm actually angry now!"

Her frustration was genuine this time.

"I have something to give you," Alaric suddenly said.

"What is it?" Cecilia wasn't really interested.

Right now, she couldn't muster any enthusiasm for anything.

The entanglement with Alaric on the bed was just to relieve stress.

"Come here," Alaric suddenly reached out and took her hand.

Cecilia was growing increasingly impatient.

A lot had happened today, and she still had many things to handle.

In her eyes, he couldn't help her, but he shouldn't drag her down either!

Cecilia shook off Alaric's hand, "I'm busy, I don't have so much time to play with you."

Alaric's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Have you seen the news about me today? Or maybe you're unaware that the Lockhart family is in trouble? Of course, our partnership means my problems are just my own concern. It's fine if you don't care, but please don't keep delaying me," Cecilia said with a serious tone.

Her tone was also a bit harsh.

"By the way, if something happens to my dad, you'll be implicated too. You should consider whether you want to continue cooperating with me. After all, I can't guarantee I can get my dad acquitted..."

"Just how inadequate do you think I am in your eyes, Ms. Lockhart?" Alaric interrupted her.

Cecilia pressed her lips; she was just stating the facts.

True, she might be carrying some emotional weight, but the facts remained unchanged.

Alaric had just managed to secure a government position, only for it to be jeopardized because of her… Cecilia felt a pang of sympathy for him.

Cecilia didn't answer, so Alaric asked again, "Am I really that untrustworthy to you?"

"I used to trust a lot of people, but in the end, I was betrayed badly. So now, besides myself, I don't trust anyone."

"So you just want to piss me off," Alaric held back, clearly wanting to get angry but forcing himself to stay calm.

"Who's really driving who mad?" Cecilia was genuinely angry now, "I've got so much to deal with today. Can't you just chill out for once?!"

"I think when I give you this, you'll be ashamed in front of me."

"...You're crazy..."

Cecilia didn't want to talk to Alaric.

She turned to leave again.

"I found the source of the $25 million private contract for Flower Beach International."

Cecilia's body froze, and for a moment, she visibly stiffened.

She stared wide-eyed at Alaric.

"This afternoon, when Dashiell sent you the documents, he also sent me a copy. Since I was just starting work and had nothing to do, I took a look at the contract and, coincidentally, found something suspicious," Alaric said nonchalantly.

His words were so casual that Cecilia almost couldn't believe her ears.

So the thing she spent all afternoon and an entire evening stressing over was already solved by Alaric?!

Of course, she knew it wasn't as easy as Alaric made it sound.

She quickly asked, "What's so fishy about it?"

"Now are you willing to come over?" Alaric raised an eyebrow.

Cecilia pursed her lips."Yes." She was indeed willing, even eager.

Alaric took Cecilia's hand and led her to the sofa in the room, picked up the laptop on the coffee table, and opened it.

Alaric typed in the screen password.

Cecilia casually glanced at his fingers on the keyboard.

And at that moment, she saw clearly that his password was "LoveCecilia!"

Such a straightforward password made Cecilia feel a bit shy at that moment.

"Did you see it?" Alaric said while operating the computer.

"Didn't you show it to me on purpose?" Cecilia retorted.

She thought, 'If he hadn't done it on purpose, why would he slow down his typing speed?!

'Alaric is really too cunning.

'Maybe he even changed the password temporarily.'

She had to admit that Alaric's teasing skills were masterful.

But both of them didn't get too distracted by this little interlude.

Alaric opened a folder, clicked on three contract files, and said, "You can study these three contracts. I think there's a problem."

Cecilia frowned, she had looked at these three contracts before, but she had skimmed through them and didn't notice anything wrong.

At this moment, reminded by Alaric, she couldn't help but look at them seriously.
