Chapter 455 Dominic's Self-Made Troubles
Cecilia watched Seraphina bounce.
Back in the day, Seraphina would hang around till the bitter end before dragging herself home.
No one had a clue why she hated being home so much.
Sometimes, Cecilia wished she could just chill at home and not go anywhere.
But Seraphina? Nah, she was always on the move.
Tonight, she bailed on the party early, which was a shocker.
Had to be Penelope who ticked her off.
Seraphina never swallowed her pride, especially with Penelope. Those two were like oil and water since they were kids; always at each other's throats. Today, Seraphina didn't even bother to argue and just dipped, which was wild.
As long as Seraphina didn't regret it.
Sebastian was into Seraphina too. If she could have Sebastian's dirt, Seraphina and Sebastian might still have a shot at a happy ending.
If Seraphina had second thoughts, she might not win Dashiell back.
And then, she'd be the one feeling the blues.
"Ms. Lockhart," Pierce called out.
Cecilia snapped back to reality.
"I'm kinda tired. Gonna get some air. You go mingle," she said.
"Okay." Pierce nodded.
Cecilia slipped out of the banquet hall and headed to the back garden.
She had just plopped down on the dimly lit swing when she heard Dominic's voice. "Cecilia."
Cecilia frowned.
Seraphina loathed Penelope, and Cecilia couldn't stand Dominic.
They were both a pain.
Cecilia shot Dominic a look and then ignored him.
Her disdain was crystal clear.
Dominic's face darkened. "Feeling all high and mighty now, huh? Think you're better than everyone?"
Cecilia got up from the swing, "I only think I'm better than you."
"Cecilia!" Dominic barked.
Cecilia walked right past him without a glance.
She wasn't about to waste her time on him.
"Cecilia!" Dominic's face twisted in anger.
He suddenly grabbed her arm.
Cecilia winced, frowning. "Dominic, let go!"
"What if I don't?" Dominic sneered, "Scream all you want. But when everyone's looking, who do you think will be the one wishing they could disappear?"
"You're as slimy as ever," Cecilia shot back.
"You made me do this," Dominic growled, "What did you say to Bill?"
Cecilia tried to pull her arm free, but Dominic tightened his grip.
"Let go and I'll tell you!" Cecilia's face turned icy.
Dominic hesitated, then threatened, "If you run, I'll make sure everyone at the party knows we're tangled up here."
"Let go!" Cecilia demanded coldly.
Dominic let go.
Cecilia rubbed her arm but didn't leave.
She wasn't scared of Dominic; it just wasn't worth trashing her rep over him.
"I just told Mr. Tackett that I'm super interested in the international e-commerce project. Does Mr. Tackett have beef with you now?" she said.
"That's a joke!" Dominic snapped. "You think your little e-commerce gig can compete with me? Cecilia, are you trying to get back at me for snagging the Innovation Arc project?"
"You're full of yourself!" Cecilia shot back. "The Innovation Arc project didn't even dent the Lockhart Group."
Dominic's face twisted with anger.
Cecilia didn't hold back, "The Lockhart Group's diving into e-commerce 'cause it's got real potential. Remember, I was the one who told you to invest in it. Too bad you flopped. Now that you can't hack it, I gotta step up."
"I flopped? I own the e-commerce scene in the Yakurosean Empire. You got some nerve to say that, Cecilia," Dominic snapped.
"You own it 'cause the merchants there haven't caught on to e-commerce's future yet. Your revenue doesn't even hit five percent of the Kingsley Group's. Honestly, it's embarrassing to even bring it up," Cecilia continued. "Dominic, face it, you're not as good as you think. Maybe crack open a book and stop scheming. Playing dirty will catch up with you. Take care."
With that, Cecilia turned to leave.
Dominic, humiliated, couldn't let it slide.
In a rage, he lunged to grab her arm again.
This time, Cecilia dodged.
But in a flash, Dominic yanked her into his arms, holding her tight.
"Cecilia, you really think you can beat me?" Dominic sneered, "This is the difference between men and women. I can do whatever I want to you!"
"Go ahead, try it!" Cecilia dared him.
For a moment, Dominic was thrown by her icy stare.
But he wasn't one to back down.
He didn't think Cecilia could do anything.
He shoved her against the wall, pinning her down, "Go on. I wanna see..."
Dominic suddenly screamed.
His face contorted in pain.
Cecilia had kicked him square between the legs with all her might.
They say a good hit to a guy's groin can be excruciating, even deadly.
She stepped away from Dominic, saying, "Dominic, I'm not the woman who puts up with everything anymore!"
With that, Cecilia turned and walked off.
Dominic, writhing in pain, was seeing red.
He lunged forward, grabbed Cecilia's arm, and was about to slap her.
Before he could, a strong force shoved him to the ground.
Dominic lost his balance and hit the ground hard, his vision going black for a second, almost passing out.
Cecilia hadn't expected to push Dominic this far.
Dominic, usually so composed, had completely lost it.
She turned around to see Pierce, panting heavily, looking a bit freaked out after pushing Dominic down.
He was probably scared by his own actions.
After all, Dominic was a big deal in Serenovia City, and most people wouldn't dare cross him.
