Chapter 789 What is a Fatal Injury
In the now calm hospital room.
The bloodstains in the room had also been cleaned up by the nurse.
It was as if everything that had just happened here didn't exist, and everything had returned to its original state.
The door to the hospital room was pushed open.
Cecilia looked up and saw Cassius.
The moment she saw Cassius, her gaze shifted to the side.
She seemed to know what Cassius was going to say, and her whole body was filled with rejection.
Cassius really didn't want to come to ease this conflict. Aren't things between husband and wife always easy to resolve?
To what extent are Cecilia and Alaric going to fight?
Cassius sat by Cecilia's hospital bed.
George was still holding a bowl of oatmeal, presumably wanting to give it to Cecilia, but she hadn't eaten it.
Cassius sighed and said, "Alaric has been sent to the hospital room. The doctor said the bite wound is quite severe, and he might not be able to speak for a day or two. But don't worry, it will be fine once the wound heals."
Cecilia remained silent and indifferent.
"Alaric is asleep. He's actually been quite exhausted lately. He managed to come back the day before yesterday by squeezing out all his time. Because he rested for a day, he worked until midnight after returning yesterday to ensure the success of the inauguration ceremony. I thought he probably didn't sleep after midnight either, considering he heard you were on a hunger strike. He probably wasn't in the mood to sleep. Anyway, when I went to pick him up this morning, his eyes were bloodshot. The doctor had to give him special eye drops to make his eyes look as normal as they do now. You have no idea, when I saw him this morning, I almost thought I saw a demon..."
Cecilia glanced at Cassius.
Cassius pursed his lips, knowing Cecilia didn't want to hear it.
He sighed heavily, "I'm telling you this not to make you sympathize with Alaric, but to let you know that he's not doing well either. Would that make you feel any better?"
"What does that have to do with me?" Cecilia finally spoke in a calm voice, "Isn't all of this his doing?"
"It's his doing. He can't give up the Whitaker Royal Family, can't give up the power that generations of the Whitaker Royal Family have won with their lives."
"But he can give up on me," Cecilia said, enunciating each word.
"Give up on you? Do you think he would still have a soul if he did?" Cassius retorted.
"No one can't live without someone else. Time can dilute everything."
"You don't know how many years Alaric has loved you."
"But if I hadn't approached him first, he wouldn't have approached me," Cecilia understood this very well in her past life.
In her past life, Alaric and she were like two parallel lines that never intersected.
"Now that I'm leaving, over time, he'll accept it."
"Yes, when you didn't approach him, he lived like a walking corpse. When you were with him, I saw in his eyes a longing for life." Cassius rarely said anything sentimental.
He always felt ashamed and couldn't say it.
For Alaric, Cassius had really broken his own boundaries time and again.
"Isn't there a Juniper now?" Cecilia's eyes moved slightly, and she said softly.
"Do you think he loves her?"
"Maybe he does."
"The whole world can mistakenly think Alaric loves her, but you should know best that he doesn't."
Cecilia shook her head, "I used to think I loved Dominic, but after marrying Alaric, I fell in love with Alaric. If I can do it, why can't Alaric?"
"So no matter what I say, you've given up on Alaric, haven't you?"
"Cassius," Cecilia called his name, "the best way for Alaric is for me to leave him. You should persuade him."
Cassius pursed his lips.
Cecilia was right.
The best way was for them to separate.
But what would happen to Alaric if they really separated?
Cassius gritted his teeth, "I'll think about it."
His so-called thinking was probably about whether to help Cecilia leave.
But Cecilia didn't dare to hope.
After all, Cassius was still on Alaric's side.
If Alaric refused to let her go, Cassius probably wouldn't dare to betray Alaric either.
Cassius left.
It seemed that this attempt to ease the conflict had no effect at all.
He hadn't changed any of the conflicts between Cecilia and Alaric.
That day.
Cecilia still didn't eat.
But that day, Alaric never appeared in the hospital room.
She thought, maybe he had gone back to Astralton City.
The next day.
Dashiell came.
It was obvious that Cassius had called him over.
Her relationship with Dashiell, aside from the connection with Alaric, was still considered friendly.
So she wasn't too resistant to Dashiell.
"Didn't expect you to lose so much weight," Dashiell said with a hint of heartache in his smile when he saw Cecilia.
Cecilia also smiled, "I didn't expect you to see me in such a sorry state."
Dashiell shook his head, "I know your pain. I've felt it too."
With Seraphina.
The pain he endured was probably similar to what Cecilia was going through now.
"So are you here to persuade me or help me?" Cecilia didn't want to beat around the bush with Dashiell.
"Neither, I'm just here to get you to eat something," Dashiell said bluntly.
Cecilia pursed her lips.
"Having the chance to live again, do you really want to die like this?"
"No," Cecilia said, "I cherish my life."
"But right now, you're torturing yourself," Dashiell said. "There are many ways to torment Alaric. Why hurt your own body to achieve your goal?"
"Yes, there are many ways to torment Alaric, but this one is the most lethal."
And she always chose the most direct way.
Dashiell was left speechless by Cecilia.
This morning, he received a call from Cassius, saying he was being tormented to death by Cecilia and Alaric.
Cassius said if Cecilia and Alaric continued like this, the world would be destroyed.
Cassius wasn't exaggerating.
Alaric was now in a high position, and if something happened to him, the Yakurosean Empire would indeed be in danger.
Cassius said he spent the whole night persuading Alaric to let Cecilia go, even if it was just pretending to let her go. He could have people watch over Cecilia, and if any man approached her, he would break that man's legs, ensuring Cecilia's safety.
Even after saying all this, Alaric still wouldn't relent.
If Alaric wouldn't relent, Cassius couldn't secretly send Cecilia away. It wasn't that he was afraid Alaric would kill him; he was afraid Alaric wouldn't be able to handle it and would take revenge on society.
Cassius was at his wit's end, so he called Dashiell to persuade Cecilia.
If Cecilia weren't so stubborn, they wouldn't have reached this point.
Would it kill her to compromise a little?
Cassius was really driven to the brink by Cecilia and Alaric.
Dashiell now felt that he probably couldn't do anything either.
No matter how big the issue, Cecilia was determined to leave Alaric.
