Chapter 462 The Game (7) Infuriating the Kingsley Family
Just as Penelope, Dominic, Nathaniel, and Octavia were all caught off guard, Bill jumped up from his seat and practically sprinted over to Cecilia, looking super pumped. "We've been waiting for you, come on, grab a seat."
"Sorry, got stuck in some traffic after work, so I'm a bit late," Cecilia said, pulling out a gift. "This is a little something for Mr. Tackett, a souvenir from the Yakurosean Empire."
"You're too kind," Bill said, clearly stoked.
No one expected Cecilia to be so thoughtful.
And this move definitely made the Kingsley Family feel awkward.
They hadn't even thought about bringing a gift.
"Have a seat," Bill warmly invited again.
Cecilia, along with Pierce and Rose, sat down at the big round table.
Nathaniel, who had seen a lot in his time, stayed cool as he saw Cecilia's arrival and her gift-giving, and kept the convo going, "Didn't expect Cecilia to show up too."
His tone was kinda affectionate.
Cecilia also played it polite, smiling at Nathaniel and warmly greeting, "Uncle Nathaniel, Aunt Octavia."
Penelope clearly looked disgusted.
This bitch Cecilia, when did she get so good at pretending?
In her memory, Cecilia was still that gullible woman who believed everything she said. Now, she was all fake and clearly very good at it.
Penelope glared at Cecilia, gritting her teeth.
Cecilia had always looked down on Penelope.
Ignoring her would piss her off even more.
She said to Nathaniel, "Didn't you know I was coming?"
Cecilia smiled brightly, her face looking all innocent.
"I don't know," Nathaniel frowned slightly.
It was clear he couldn't stand Cecilia's fake act at the moment.
Because he knew very well, she was pretending.
He was also pretending.
Once, their family had pretended to be so fake in front of her, and now she was using the same method to piss them off.
"Mr. Tackett," Cecilia looked at Bill.
Her voice had a hint of flirtiness.
Rose, sitting next to her, shivered.
She couldn't stand it.
She guessed the Kingsley Family was probably grinding their teeth in anger.
"I've been so busy lately that I forgot to inform Mr. Kingsley," Bill said, playing along with Cecilia. "When we discussed the contract earlier, I mentioned that I would invite a third party to do the e-commerce marketing plan. After all, on the e-commerce platform, I personally feel that you are still a bit lacking. You agreed to it, and it was clearly written in the contract."
Dominic's eyes narrowed, and he naturally guessed.
The next second, Bill said, "I reviewed the Lockhart Group's e-commerce marketing plan, and it was perfect, very suitable for our cooperation this time. So, I signed a marketing plan contract with the Lockhart Group, which means that the future international e-commerce platform marketing plan will be handled by the Lockhart Group. We will take ten percent of the profit and give it to the Lockhart Group as a marketing planning fee."
"You didn't say at the time that the Lockhart Group would be doing the planning!" Nathaniel clearly couldn't hold it in anymore.
They had always assumed it was a professional team Bill had found abroad.
In the Yakurosean Empire, e-commerce was pretty much in the Stone Age, so hiring a third party for marketing was something they were all for. Honestly, they weren't even sure they could pull this project off themselves, so they jumped at Bill's proposal without a second thought.
They never imagined that the so-called third-party pros would be the Lockhart Group.
Totally unacceptable!
If it became known that Lockhart was managing Kingsley's international e-commerce project, it would raise serious questions about Kingsley's competence and potentially jeopardize future deals.
The Kingsley Group had already been getting stomped on by the Lockhart Group for a while.
They thought this e-commerce project could be their comeback, but nope, just another big slap in the face!
"At the time, you didn't ask, and I did seek your opinion on whether we should choose the third-party company together. Your unanimous response was to trust my judgment and let me make the decision while you provided the platform," Bill said bluntly.
Nathaniel was clearly speechless.
At the time, they really didn't expect it would be the Lockhart Group.
If they had known, they would never have agreed.
Nathaniel looked back at Dominic, whose face was also extremely displeased at that moment.
This time, it didn't cause him any financial loss, unlike the last Innovation Arc project, but this time, it was a complete loss of reputation.
Dominic looked at Cecilia.
His eyes were full of malice, undisguised.
Cecilia wasn't afraid, meeting Dominic's gaze with a look of provocation.
"The cooperation is settled then. The international platform project will be built by me and the Kingsley Group together. The specific marketing plan and e-commerce operations will be handled by the Lockhart Group." Bill pretended not to notice the tension between them. "And tomorrow, I will leave the Yakurosean Empire. You'll need to collaborate on a lot on this project. If you encounter any problems that can't be solved, contact me in time. I will keep my phone on 24/7. Additionally, I will leave my assistant here to be fully responsible for the Tackett Group's matters. You can also contact him directly if you have any issues."
"Okay." Cecilia nodded.
"To a successful collaboration!" Bill raised his glass.
The Kingsley Family reluctantly raised their glasses as well.
Cecilia raised a glass of warm water.
When she entered the private room, she had told Rose to ask the waiter to prepare a glass of warm water for her.
She explained, "It's a special time for me, so I can only use warm water instead of alcohol."
"What do you mean by a special time?" Bill joked.
Cecilia explained, "I'm preparing for pregnancy."
"I see." Bill nodded. "Then drink water."
"Thank you for understanding," Cecilia said.
Bill was in a good mood tonight.
He had perfectly negotiated the project and could go back tomorrow, so it was hard not to be happy.
Bill drank freely, his glass emptying quickly. The others at the table, caught up in the convivial mood, followed suit, except for Cecilia.
Cecilia left briefly in the middle to touch up her makeup in the bathroom.
Just as she came out of the bathroom, Dominic was waiting at the door for her.
Cecilia glanced at him, then said coldly, "Do you want your right hand ruined too?"
It was a reminder to him.
