Chapter 418 Marrying You Makes Me the Most Successful Person Alive

"You only got two days off?" Cecilia shot him a look.

Cecilia was clearly a bit overwhelmed.

"Miss me already?" Alaric grinned.

"No, not at all." Cecilia turned away, clearly ticked off.

"Can't help it. If I hang around too long, I'll get chewed out again," Alaric shrugged.

"Dominic always on your case?" Cecilia asked.

"Not just him," Alaric replied.

Cecilia gave him a once-over.

"You'll find out soon enough," Alaric dodged, waving over the waiter. "Check, please."

"Yes, sir." The waiter handed over the bill.

Alaric swiped his card. Cecilia just kept watching him. After swiping the card, Alaric flashed a smile at Cecilia. "Think guys look the coolest when they're paying the bill?"

"I'm not broke, you know," Cecilia said, rolling her eyes.

"That's why you're a tough one to keep," Alaric sighed.

Cecilia wasn't short on cash, making it hard to impress her with money.

She looked puzzled. Alaric grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the hotel. Cecilia almost tripped from Alaric's tug, thinking, 'Does he have to be in such a rush?'

They hopped back into the car. Cecilia stared out at the scenery outside Serenovia City, muttering, "Last time I stayed at your place for a week, and now you only got two days."

She was really bummed out. And it wasn't even the weekend. She had work tomorrow because of a job fair she couldn't skip. Alaric didn't even pick a good time to come back.

The more Cecilia thought about it, the more annoyed she got. Just then, Alaric pulled her into his arms. Cecilia squirmed.

"Mrs. Whitaker, keep teasing me and I might just make a move right here," Alaric teased.

Cecilia froze. After all, Augustus was still driving.

Hearing Alaric's words, Augustus's face turned red. He thought, 'Mr. Whitaker has totally let loose since getting hitched. Where has his old aloof self gone? Now he is acting all wild.'

The car sped up a bit.

After all, the beautiful night shouldn't be wasted. He couldn't delay their precious time together.

They pulled up to the villa.

Alaric and Cecilia got out of the car hand in hand.

In Cecilia's past life, she had rarely held hands with Dominic. She used to think Dominic didn't like such intimate gestures, but now she knew he just didn't care to be that close to her.

Cecilia tightened her grip on Alaric's hand. She just didn't want to let go. This must be what being in love felt like. Even a second apart felt like torture; being together made her never want to part.

Alaric could also feel Cecilia's grip, his large hand holding onto her tightly.

Their silent actions showed their mutual, unwavering affection.

As they walked into the hall, Alaric pulled Cecilia into his arms.

Cecilia was startled and about to scream when Alaric's lips pressed firmly against hers.

George, who habitually waited for Cecilia to come home before going to his room, walked out of the side room and was stunned by the scene before him.

He quickly turned and left, muttering, "They'll have a baby soon."

Cecilia was literally kissed all the way back to the room by Alaric.

Once in the room, Alaric became even more unrestrained.

Who knew how much he had been holding back?

He made it impossible for Cecilia to resist!

Cecilia lay in bed, motionless, as Alaric held her tightly.

"The bed at home is way comfier," Alaric sighed.

Probably comparing it to the one in Harborvale.

"Think I did enough tonight?" Alaric touched Cecilia's stomach.

Cecilia frowned. There was definitely more to his words.

"Babe..." Alaric whispered in her ear, clearly up to no good again.

Cecilia pushed him away. "I need a shower."

"I'll help," Alaric offered.

"Get lost." Cecilia threw off the covers and dashed into the bathroom.

She was really drenched in sweat. Alaric watched her retreating figure and chuckled. He slowly got out of bed, grabbed a cigarette, and walked to the balcony.

Just as he was about to light it, he thought better of it and put it down instead. He stood on the balcony, looking at the quiet night.

Cecilia took her time in the shower. When she came out, she saw Alaric standing on the balcony with just a towel around his waist.

Alaric's broad back inexplicably gave off a sense of loneliness.

Was it because the night was so dark? Why did Cecilia suddenly feel that Alaric was very lonely?

She walked out to the balcony and hugged Alaric from behind.

Alaric's eyes flickered. His smile was evident.

Cecilia said, "Why are you standing out here alone? Aren't you cold?"

"I'm just waiting for you to warm me up," Alaric smiled.

In Cecilia's memory, Alaric didn't smile a lot. His cold attitude sometimes made it feel like even getting close to him brought a chill.

But ever since they got married, she couldn't reconcile this Alaric with the man who had become more successful in her previous life.

She sighed, "Alaric, do you think I'll affect your career?"

"Why do you suddenly say that?" Alaric asked.

Because this version of Alaric was so different from the one in her previous life.

"I'm just afraid you'll get too caught up in romance." Cecilia found an excuse.

"You hit the nail on the head." Alaric turned around.

They looked into each other's eyes. Cecilia was much shorter than Alaric, her head barely reaching his chin. She looked so tiny in front of him.

Alaric bent down, his cheek close to Cecilia's. "But everyone loves beauty."

"I'm being serious," Cecilia said, exasperated.

"I'm being serious too," Alaric said.

"Alaric, I mean we should work together for mutual success," Cecilia said seriously.

"Marrying you makes me the most successful person alive," Alaric said.

She couldn't have a proper conversation with Alaric anymore.

Cecilia turned to leave in anger.

Alaric quickly grabbed her, asking, "Aren't you taking me with you?"

"I'm just going back to the room," Cecilia said helplessly.

"You still have to take me with you," Alaric said.

Cecilia ignored him. At that moment, Alaric grabbed Cecilia's hand and placed it on his towel.

Cecilia looked at Alaric. The next second, Cecilia's eyes widened.

She shouted in mind, 'Alaric, you pervert!'

The next day, Cecilia had to rely on her sheer willpower to drag herself out of bed, feeling like she was dying.

She thought it might be better if he didn't come back at all. His return was not a remedy for her lovesickness; it was simply a torment to her body.

She dragged her sore body to wash up.

After washing up, putting on makeup, and getting dressed, she was about to leave when Alaric shut the door and blocked her way.

'Again?' Cecilia thought, feeling helpless.
