Chapter 672 Regret it in the Future

Cecilia locked eyes with Alaric, standing right in front of her.

Wait, wasn't Alaric supposed to be at the airport?

But here he was, out of nowhere!

Cecilia shot him a glare, feeling a mix of anger and surprise. She tried to keep her cool.

Just as she was about to say something, Alaric suddenly pulled her into a tight hug.

Her heart skipped a beat.

All her feelings for Alaric came rushing back.

She didn't care about the people around them and buried her face in his chest.

The familiar warmth of his body almost made her melt.

Then, an awkward cough broke the moment.

Cecilia froze; she had totally forgotten she was still at the office.

For a second, it felt like it was just her and Alaric in the world.

Alaric let her go, and they both turned to see Cassius, the one who had coughed.

Cassius didn't seem embarrassed at all. "My dad's waiting for you guys," he said.

Cecilia frowned.

Alaric explained, "Hugo wanted me to go to him first, but I couldn't wait to see you, so I had Cassius come with me to pick you up."

"I'm going too?" Cecilia felt like she shouldn't get involved in their business.

"Plus, you can meet Cassius's kid," Alaric added.

"Okay." Cecilia agreed right away.

Maybe it was because she was pregnant, but she had been really into kids lately.

She gave some work instructions to Rose and left the office with Alaric and Cassius.

In the car, Alaric instinctively placed his hand on Cecilia's lower abdomen. After a while, he frowned and said, "Why isn't it moving?"

Was Alaric nuts?

It had only been two months; it would be a miracle if it moved. "By the way, have you been taking care of yourself and eating properly? You haven't gained any weight; you're starving the baby." Alaric started to lecture her.

Cecilia was speechless.

She thought, 'How can you even tell if the baby is thin? Besides, how big can a baby get at three months?'

"I'll have George make sure you eat properly from now on," Alaric concluded.

Cassius chuckled from the side, finding Alaric's foolishness amusing.

They arrived at the Blackburn Mansion.

As soon as they walked into the hall, they saw Hugo.

He was holding a small baby, Maxwell Blackburn, and walking around the hall.

Lily was also there. Seeing them arrive, she quickly got up to greet them.

After a month, Lily seemed to have recovered quite a bit.

"Come hold your son," Hugo said, handing Maxwell to Cassius as soon as he saw him.

Cassius hadn't held Maxwell much, so he was very cautious.

Lily, worried Cassius might drop Maxwell, went over to show him how to hold the baby.

Cecilia and Alaric also walked over to look at Maxwell in Cassius's arms.

After a month, Maxwell looked noticeably different.

His face was a bit chubbier, his skin smoother, and he looked super cute.

Cecilia couldn't help but want to hold him, but Alaric stopped her.

Noticing Cecilia's slight annoyance, Alaric took Maxwell from Cassius, letting her get a closer look.Cassius watched Alaric and Cecilia doting on Maxwell and joked, "Anyone who didn't know better would think my son was yours. Do you really have to love him that much?"

"Maybe he will be ours," Cecilia laughed. "He could be my son-in-law one day."

"That works for me!" Cassius agreed right away, picturing how beautiful Alaric and Cecilia's daughter would be.

"No way!" Alaric shot back, dead serious.

Cassius frowned.

"If Maxwell turns out like Cassius, my daughter would be miserable," Alaric said, clearly annoyed.

Cassius was fuming. "Are we even friends?"

"We are, which is why I know what kind of person you are," Alaric retorted. "Cassius is great as a friend, but not as a husband."

Cassius's face turned red with anger.

He couldn't really argue with that.

He knew he hadn't been the best to Lily.

The hall got pretty noisy for a bit.

Then Maxwell started crying.

Even Alaric, usually so calm, was startled.

He hadn't done anything.

Lily quickly said, "He might be hungry. I'll take him to nurse."

Alaric hurriedly handed Maxwell to Lily, his careful manner touching Cecilia.

She thought, 'Alaric would definitely be a great dad someday.'

After Lily took Maxwell away, Hugo called Alaric and Cassius to the study. Shortly after, Dashiell arrived and went straight to the study, probably to discuss something important.

Cecilia went to Lily's room.

By then, Lily had already put Maxwell to sleep.

Seeing Cecilia come in, she quickly got up to greet her.

"Sit down," Cecilia gestured.

Lily smiled slightly.

Cecilia said, "You don't have to be so formal with me."

"Okay," Lily nodded, still looking a bit too respectful.

Cecilia added, "Don't mind what Alaric said earlier."

"What?" Lily looked puzzled.

"I mean when he said Cassius isn't a good husband; don't take it to heart. When he matures, he'll be a good husband!" Cecilia explained.

Lily smiled. "I didn't really mind. Mr. Blackburn and I don't have any feelings for each other. We only got married because I was pregnant. I don't want to hide it from you. Once Maxwell doesn't need breastfeeding, I'll go back to work. Although I feel a bit sorry for Maxwell."

"That's how it should be. Women should have their own careers," Cecilia nodded. "But have you mentioned this to Cassius and Hugo?"

"Not yet. I think Mr. Cassius Blackburn will agree, but Mr. Hugo Blackburn..." Lily hesitated and continued, "I'll try my best to convince him."

"Hugo isn't unreasonable. With Cassius treating you like this, he can't restrict you forever. If Hugo doesn't agree, call me, and I'll help persuade him."

"Thank you," Lily smiled, clearly touched.

She probably didn't expect Cecilia to offer so much help.

"There's no need to thank me," Cecilia smiled warmly. "You'll do really well in the entertainment industry in the future."

Lily thought Cecilia was just encouraging her and quickly said, "I'll work hard."

Lily's eyes were full of hope for the future.

Cecilia thought, 'If Cassius doesn't cherish Lily now, he's definitely going to regret it later!'
