Chapter 566 Reunion After a Long Separation
In the car, Cecilia said, "Yeah, we're heading back now."
"That's awesome!" Arabella exclaimed, her voice full of excitement. "How's Alaric doing? Is he okay? He looks so thin. Why don't you come back to The Whitaker Mansion so I can help him regain his strength?"
"I'll let you talk to him," Cecilia replied, passing the phone to Alaric.
Alaric took the phone and started chatting with Arabella. Mostly, it was Arabella doing the talking while Alaric tried to calm her down.
Cecilia sat quietly next to him until they pulled into the mansion's driveway.
Finally, Alaric managed to ease Arabella's worries and hung up.
Cecilia smiled and said, "Isn't it nice to have a mom who cares so much?"
Thinking back, in her past life, she had lost her parents because of Dominic. That kind of pain was something that could never be erased, not even in a lifetime.
But now, things were different. She had been reborn and had changed her fate. Dominic had finally gotten what he deserved.
Alaric looked at Cecilia and gave a faint smile. He didn't say anything, but Cecilia took it as a sign of agreement. After all, guys often found it hard to admit they needed their parents.
When they arrived, Augustus opened the car door for them. Cecilia and Alaric stepped out, and they all walked into the villa together.
George asked, "Mr. Whitaker, do you want to take a bath first or eat something? Everything's ready."
"A bath," Alaric replied.
"The water's ready in your bathroom," George said, with utmost respect, seemingly no different from his usual demeanor.
But upon closer inspection, Cecilia could still notice George's reddened eyes.
Cecilia always felt that George and Alaric's relationship was more than just master and servant.
Holding Alaric's arm, she said, "I'll go with you to the bath."
Alaric smiled, and Cecilia blushed, her intentions purely innocent.
They headed upstairs together. In the bathroom, a tub of warm water was ready. As Alaric started to undress, Cecilia offered, "Let me help you."
Alaric looked at her.
"What are you staring at? Don't get any ideas," Cecilia blushed, though she was just trying to help with his injuries.
Alaric didn't refuse and let Cecilia undress him.
As she saw his body, her eyes filled with tears. Alaric was so thin that every rib was visible, and his once perfect muscles were gone. She couldn't help but wonder what he had gone through in prison.
"They'll come back," Alaric reassured her.
Hearing this, Cecilia held back her tears.
She undressed Alaric and gently lowered him into the tub, then started washing him.
Alaric stayed still, whether from weakness or acceptance, she couldn't tell. The more she cared for him, the more her heart ached. Touching his frail body filled her with sorrow and a fit of fierce anger toward Dominic. Letting Dominic live felt like a mercy.
Cecilia continued to bathe Alaric for a long time, her emotions swirling with every touch.
"If you keep washing, I might lose control," Alaric suddenly said.
Cecilia's hand paused as Alaric grasped it.
"It feels nice," Alaric commented, making Cecilia blush.
She quickly pulled her hand away and said, "I'll grab you a towel," before hurrying off to the side.
Alaric watched her go. As soon as she turned away, he clutched his stomach and retched, his mouth filling with blood. He forced himself to swallow it back down.
While Cecilia fetched the towel, Alaric managed to pull himself together. When she returned, she didn't notice anything off. She carefully helped him out of the tub, dried him off, and got him into some comfy pajamas.
Alaric had never been this thin before. His clothes hung loosely on him now. Seeing this, Cecilia silently vowed to nurse him back to health, to make him strong and healthy again.
After getting dressed, Alaric rinsed his mouth and dried his hair.
He looked refreshed as he walked out of the bathroom.
Cecilia held his arm, ready to head downstairs for some food. Suddenly, Alaric pinned her against the door, startling her. The desire in his eyes was clear. Cecilia looked at him without blinking.
She thought back to how, from the courtroom to now, even during the bath, he had been holding back. Why now, all of a sudden, couldn't he control his desire?
"I was dirty earlier, so I held back," Alaric said, as if reading her mind and answering her unspoken question.
Hearing this, Cecilia was deeply moved. She had never minded Alaric's condition, but he always considered her in everything.
"I don't want to hold back now," Alaric said, lifting Cecilia's chin. She met his gaze, seeing the deep emotion and desire in his eyes. Her heart raced.
This wasn't their first kiss—they had kissed countless times and made love many more. But now, because of their long separation, she was so nervous that her body trembled slightly.
Cecilia watched Alaric's chiseled, handsome face inch closer to hers. His thin, shapely lips parted slightly before they met hers. Her heart raced and her whole body went soft, feeling as if an electric shock had surged through her.
The sensation between their lips made her lose herself for a moment.
Alaric hadn't even done anything yet. He hadn't even used his expert kissing skills, and Cecilia already seemed to have fallen under his spell.
She thought, 'Is this love? It must be love, to evoke such a strong physical reaction.'
Cecilia closed her eyes. Her tightly closed lips parted slightly as Alaric approached. Their lips and tongues intertwined. She had never felt such desire before, a longing so intense that she wanted to merge their bodies together and never be apart.
The atmosphere in the room was heating up; the temperature kept rising.
Cecilia didn't know who got to the bed first or how they even reached it. Alaric's pajamas were already on the floor, and Cecilia's clothes were completely off.
Just as they were about to go further, Alaric suddenly hugged her tightly.
His body started to convulse uncontrollably.
Cecilia turned her head and saw a mouthful of blood come out of Alaric's mouth, instantly staining the light pink sheets. Her face turned pale, and the terror in her eyes grew.
"Don't be afraid," Alaric said, "I won't die."
Cecilia replied, "Do you think you're a god and you won't die? You're coughing up blood!"
