Chapter 334 Celebration

At the press conference, after the Unity Chancellor finished speaking, he bowed deeply.

He seemed deeply apologetic for the significant impact of the matter.

Unity Chancellor probably didn't expect it to cause such a huge public outcry.

He almost lost his job because of it.

So he had to explain in person.

Dominic saw the content of the video and was utterly furious.

He originally wanted to use this opportunity to get rid of Alaric.

He believed that if Alaric won, he would eliminate him from sight, thus concluding Alaric's career. Once Alaric was sent to Harborvale, any development for him would be a pipe dream. No matter how well Alaric did, it was just a small city. Even if he got promoted to Unity Chancellor, so what?

He wouldn't be able to make any waves, and Alaric could only watch as Dominic advanced to higher and better positions.

He wanted to give Alaric a harsh lesson when he was feeling smug, to show him that even if he succeeded, he wouldn't gain any benefits in front of Dominic.

But he didn't expect that public opinion would force the State Office to add a term to Alaric's transfer.

This meant that in just six months, Alaric could come back.

And in six months, Dominic might not even have advanced to the position of City Manager, and he would be the one losing face!

After gaining experience, Alaric's future development became even more brilliant.

Dominic's face turned grim as he considered the possible outcomes.

For the first time, he began to doubt if he was really much worse than Alaric.

Why else would his schemes, every time, be destroyed by Alaric to the bone?

He even had the illusion that he really couldn't beat Alaric.

Dominic immediately denied his thoughts.

There was no way he couldn't beat Alaric. Alaric had nothing compared to him.

He just got lucky recently and had some development.

With such strong backing, there was no way he would let Alaric succeed!

What's more, no one would know what would happen to Alaric in Harborvale in six months.

As long as he had time, he could find ways to ensure Alaric never returned to Serenovia City.

He gritted his teeth.

Dominic was trying hard to control his emotions.

And as angry as Dominic was at the moment, Cecilia was having a blast.

Seeing the State Office's final decision on Alaric, she almost wanted to applaud him.

Cecilia thought, 'How strong was Alaric?'

In her previous life, she had underestimated him.

Alaric's ability to react, manage public relations, and create public opinions was simply unparalleled.

She thought, 'if Alaric were in the entertainment industry, all those so-called celebrities would bow down to him.'

As Cecilia pondered, suddenly, the phone rang.

Her joy at seeing the caller was so intense that it resonated with Seraphina at the other end.

Seraphina wrinkled her nose disdainfully, "You're so smug."

"Which ear of yours heard me being smug?"

"Can I be jealous? I'm jealous!" Seraphina said loudly, "Fuck, which eye of yours spotted Alaric back then? We were both in that car accident, so how come you're the one who got your brain scrambled and ended up with Alaric? while I didn't? If my brain had been messed up, maybe Alaric would be mine!"

"Alaric is indeed great..." Cecilia didn't deny it.

Cecilia had never admired anyone before, but Alaric's handling of today's events greatly impressed her.

"See, you say you're not smug." Seraphina interrupted Cecilia.

Cecilia found talking to Seraphina exhausting.

"How did Alaric manage to lose the "jerk" label so easily? I can't even remember what he was like back when he was such a jerk. The Alaric I know now is this incredibly handsome, capable, patriotic, and devoted man who treats you well. Honestly, I feel like Dominic is nothing compared to him." Seraphina continued.

"Is it that exaggerated?" Cecilia was speechless at Seraphina's description.

But she felt very happy inside.

"Not exaggerated at all. Cecilia, you've found a gem, cherish him."

Cecilia chuckled lightly.

A spontaneous smile she didn't even notice herself.

She said, "I will cherish him, and you should cherish Dashiell too."

"I called to congratulate Alaric on his promotion and celebrate his survival in Lindwood. Why are you bringing up Dashiell and ruining my mood?" Seraphina was very displeased.

"I'm serious, Dashiell is really not bad..."

"I don't care if it's true or not, I just don't want to hear his name." Seraphina interrupted Cecilia.

Cecilia pressed her lips.

It seemed Seraphina's prejudice against Dashiell wasn't going to be resolved overnight.

"Treat me!" Seraphina suddenly changed the topic.

Seraphina's thoughts were so weird that it was hard to keep up.

"What?"

"I said, treat me! Alaric got promoted, shouldn't we celebrate?" Seraphina said, looking completely justified.

"Where do you want to eat?" Cecilia was helpless against Seraphina.

"You know."

Cecilia thought, 'God, The Cozy Hearth.

Dashiell couldn't eat the food there.'

"Can we go somewhere else?" Cecilia asked.

"Why?" Seraphina was clearly unhappy.

"Alaric can't eat spicy food."

"...People from Serenovia City don't eat spicy food? Who are you kidding!" Seraphina clearly didn't believe it.

"Taste is a personal preference, what's so surprising about that?" Cecilia changed the topic.

"Then where do you suggest?" Seraphina compromised.

"How about Mexican cuisine. They have some spicy dishes too, so we can order both spicy and non-spicy dishes." Unlike The Cozy Hearth, which was all spicy.

"Alright then." Seraphina wasn't someone who didn't consider others, "How about tonight?"

"Is it that urgent? I haven't even told Alaric yet."

"Alaric listens to you, what's the difference when you tell him?!" Seraphina was convinced that Alaric would do anything Cecilia said.

Seraphina thought, 'Cecilia's luck is unreal—she could just pick a random guy off the street and still end up with a gem.

That kind of luck, no one else could pull it off but her.'

"Don't you mind a few more friends?" Cecilia asked.

"You're talking about Alaric's friend Cassius, right?"

"Sort of." Cecilia clearly left some room.

"Of course not, the more the merrier for Alaric's celebration."

"Alright, that's tentatively set for tonight, I'll get back to you in a bit."

"Waiting for you." The other end reminded her before hanging up.

Cecilia smiled.

She suddenly wanted to call Alaric, feeling inexplicably happy.
