Chapter 108 The Astonishing Cecilia

Just last night.

Last night, Dominic called her saying he wanted to talk and didn't want the two families to become too estranged.

Isadora had always had hopes for Dominic. Even though she had been harshly mocked by him, she was still willing to be with him if they could be together. So she dressed up a bit and went to the meeting.

She didn't expect that when she arrived at the agreed location, not only did she not find Dominic, but she was also harassed by a group of thugs. They forced her into an apartment, and then what happened was what was now playing on the screen.

Isadora barely made it home. After experiencing such a catastrophic event, she didn't dare to say anything. If she did, Vincent would surely kill her. So she kept it hidden.

At the time, she didn't suspect Dominic because he later texted her asking why she didn't show up. Although she was extremely angry and didn't reply to his message, that message made her not suspect him at all. Or rather, she couldn't imagine Dominic being that cruel!

She was utterly devastated.

At Cecilia's wedding, her reputation was ruined, but at least she had Dominic with her. Now, all her embarrassment was laid bare.

Dominic was trying to drive her to death!

"Everyone should know what kind of person Isadora is. As for why I slept with her that night, I've already said it was because she drugged me, so I won't waste everyone's time explaining further. The only thing I want to say is, Isadora, anyone can be pushed to the edge. You better watch yourself." After saying this, Dominic turned and walked away.

After taking a few steps, he suddenly stopped again. "The $5 million was indeed given by me, but that was because Vincent insisted on it."

This time, Dominic really left without stopping.

Cecilia saw this and closed the door.

Everything was already settled.

Dominic had won completely.

So, Vincent couldn't possibly compete with the Kingsley family.

Of course, Cecilia had anticipated this.

The reason she deliberately arranged this conflict wasn't to give Dominic a chance to clear his name. Dominic would have thought of this way to prove himself sooner or later. She instigated the war between them to accelerate her revenge and to teach Isadora a lesson.

In the previous life, after Cecilia married Dominic, Isadora held a grudge. She not only insulted Cecilia in public and private but also incited all the high-society ladies to look down on Cecilia.

Isadora should taste the humiliation herself.

"Mrs. Whitaker." Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in," Cecilia responded.

Regarding Isadora's fate, or perhaps her even more miserable fate to come, Cecilia no longer had any emotions.

"It's 9:50 AM now. You can get ready to go to the HR director's office," Rose reminded.

 Cecilia replied, "Okay."

Cecilia, with Rose, went directly to the office of the HR director, Gilbert Alexander.

Gilbert was very enthusiastic toward Cecilia. "Mrs. Whitaker, please have a seat."

"Thank you." Cecilia smiled and sat opposite Gilbert.

"Rose has already told me that you want to make some personnel changes in the sales department." Gilbert seemed a bit surprised.

"Yes,"  Cecilia replied.

Gilbert said, "My personal suggestion is that since you just started, there's no need to rush. After all, trust is important. Once lost, it's hard to regain."

"I understand that," Cecilia said calmly. "But you should also know that I made a promise to the senior management, so my time is limited. I only have three to six months to complete my tasks. I can't follow the usual rules."

Gilbert was momentarily taken aback by Cecilia's words.

Cecilia smiled slightly and said directly, "In the limited time, I need to have my own team."

To be able to sit in the position of a director in a Fortune 500 company, one must be smart. With Cecilia's hint, Gilbert quickly understood what she meant.

Currently, the Lockhart Group, although chaired by Cecilia's father Theodore, who indeed held 55% of the shares and has absolute say, was still a joint-stock company with a board of directors. The board, consisting of over 20 members, all had voting rights. All major projects required the board's approval, meaning the company's decisions were not solely up to Theodore!

Since everyone had the right to make decisions for the company, naturally, many factions existed within it.

Obviously, not all factions were loyal to Theodore. For instance, someone Gilbert didn't dare to mention.

What surprised him was that on her second day at work, Cecilia, who had never been in the workplace before, could think this far ahead.

Cecilia's time was limited. She couldn't waste her energy on office politics that would delay her work progress. The best way was to cut through the mess quickly, remove those who were against her, and form her own team. Once everyone was loyal to her, her work would be much more efficient.

Gilbert understood.

Rose, during their conversation, also understood.

Although she agreed with Cecilia's personnel arrangements, she still didn't approve of Cecilia's approach of making changes right away. But clearly, from Cecilia's perspective, with her tight schedule, forming a loyal team was crucial.

At that moment, Rose couldn't help but admire Cecilia's meticulous thinking and foresight.

"Since you've decided, I will fully support and handle the aftermath," Gilbert quickly stated.

"Thank you," Cecilia said politely, with a hint of deeper meaning. "I've heard that you've been in HR for over ten years. You know best who should be in what position, so I hope you can give me some professional advice."

"I will do my best," Gilbert quickly agreed. "I won't let you down!"

Cecilia smiled.

Gilbert was indeed smart. Her actions were to see who could be on her side, and Gilbert immediately showed his stance.

Of course, some things are best left unsaid.

Cecilia's eyes shifted. "Rose, show my plan to Mr. Alexander."

"Yes."

All adjustment lists were finalized before noon. Cecilia's efficiency was astonishing!

"By tomorrow morning, I want to see the internal announcement of the personnel changes," Cecilia said directly.

Her decisive work style made it hard to believe she was only 22, just graduated from college!
