Chapter 601 Exposing Alaric (1) The Luxurious Island

The room felt like it was closing in, the silence almost choking.

Cecilia realized she and Alaric were just too different.

Wasn't their marriage a joke from the start?

They had a deal: she’d get her revenge, and Alaric would secure his future.

Was she pushing it now?

Cecilia asked, "How long will it take?"

Alaric tensed up.

"How long until you succeed, until we can finally split?" she pressed.

She didn't need to know everything about Alaric, and she could bury her own feelings.

After everything she’d been through, Cecilia had learned a lot.

She felt the same about love.

As soon as she finished speaking, Alaric suddenly kissed her hard.

Cecilia felt a bit moved, but the next second, she was fighting back.

Her heart screamed no; she didn’t want to be this close to Alaric.

But the more she resisted, the more forceful Alaric became.

She couldn’t break free from his grip, not even a little.

In the end, she just watched his wild actions, desperately searching for something in him. She stopped fighting, and a tear slipped down her cheek. She felt helpless, like when Pierce had a gun to her head.

It felt like she was on the edge of death.

The night grew darker, matching the intensity of Alaric's kiss.

Just when she thought it would be like any other night, as they started to make love, Alaric suddenly held her tight and stopped moving.

He froze.

"I'm sorry, Cecilia," he said.

But Cecilia didn’t respond.

She felt so let down, she didn’t know how to deal with his so-called apology.

The room was so quiet, even their breathing seemed to disappear.

It was eerily silent.

No one knew how long it had been when Alaric sat up and turned on the light.

The sudden brightness made Cecilia squint.

When she opened her eyes, she saw Alaric grabbing some clothes. He picked her up and helped her get dressed.

Cecilia’s throat tightened.

She had no idea what Alaric was doing.

Why dress her now?

Was he finally going to kill her?

But his touch was so gentle.

Cecilia bit her lip, letting Alaric continue.

After dressing her, Alaric quickly changed his own clothes.

He took her hand and led her out of the room.

It was probably one or two in the morning.

Cecilia didn’t know where Alaric was taking her at this hour.

She knew she couldn’t resist, so she just went along.

As the car drove away, George watched the taillights fade with a helpless look.

Inside the car, Alaric was on the phone with Cassius.

"I need to leave Serenovia City for a while," Alaric said.

Cassius had just gotten back to bed and was about to fall asleep.

Did Alaric enjoy ruining his sleep?

Cassius asked, "Where to?"

Alaric replied, "Astralton City."

"So you're planning to come clean with Cecilia?" Cassius chuckled, shaking his head.

"Yes," Alaric replied and hung up.

Alaric glanced at Cecilia.

But she had turned her head towards the window, showing him the back of her head, keeping her distance.Later, Alaric pulled up at the airport.

He got out and opened the door for Cecilia.

But she just sat there, staring at him. "Are you planning to take me on a trip and then quietly kill me, making it look like an accident?"

Alaric laughed, his first smile of the night. No matter the time, his smile was always captivating.

Cecilia frowned.

"If I wanted to kill you, I have plenty of ways. It doesn't have to be this complicated," Alaric said.

Cecilia stared at him.

"Don't you want to know who I am?" Alaric patted her head. "I'll let you know."

Cecilia was surprised. Who was he? He just needed to tell her.

"I'm taking you somewhere, and you'll find out," Alaric said, not offering any more details.

He leaned over, unbuckled her seatbelt, and helped her out of the car.

Cecilia bit her lip but followed him into the airport and onto the next flight to Astralton City.

The flight was just over two hours, but Cecilia rarely went to Astralton City. She only went there occasionally in her previous life to see Dominic, who worked there. But she was still unfamiliar with the city.

Now she found herself in Astralton City again.

But Alaric didn't let her get familiar with the city. After they got off the plane, a black car picked them up and took them straight to a port, away from the bustling city. They boarded a speedboat and headed to an island.

The island was developed and looked luxurious.

In the distance, they saw a luxurious villa perched on the island. It was 7 AM, and winter in the Yakurosean Empire still held onto its dim light. Yet, the villa's bright lights cut through the gloom, casting a warm glow across the sky.

Cecilia followed Alaric into the villa, where the opulence surpassed even that of the Whitaker Mansion. For a moment, she felt at a loss, unable to grasp the worth of such an incredible man-made paradise. The luxuries surrounding her illuminated just how extraordinary this place was.

"Don't be afraid," Alaric said, tightening his grip on her hand. "If I wanted to kill you, it wouldn't be this complicated."

Cecilia glared at him.

She held her breath, following Alaric step by step through the unfamiliar villa.

They walked through a long, forest-like garden before finally reaching the entrance of the villa.

Inside, the lights were dazzling.

It seemed to radiate an inviting warmth, yet Cecilia hesitated at the entrance. It wasn't fear of danger that caused her reluctance. Instead, she sensed that behind the transparent floor-to-ceiling doors lay too many heavy secrets waiting to be uncovered.

Should she really uncover these secrets?

Seeing this, Alaric didn't rush her.

Cecilia didn't move, so he waited beside her, patiently anticipating her choice to step into his world.

Cecilia took a deep breath, telling herself that she had come this far and could accept whoever Alaric was. Gathering her courage, she stepped toward the door.

As soon as she reached the door, it automatically opened.

Inside, it was indeed very warm, a stark contrast to the cold outside.

Cecilia wondered how wealthy one must be to create such a luxurious palace.
