Chapter 415 Alaric Returns to Serenovia City

Seraphina bolted outta there like a bat outta hell.

So, she totally missed it when Dashiell, after stepping in his room, popped the door open again a second later.

He watched her storm off, then shut the door.

Lucy just stood there, feeling kinda helpless.

Dashiell was head over heels for Seraphina. Why couldn't he just show it?

And Seraphina, she wasn't that cold-hearted, so why'd she leave like that?

Lucy kept her mouth shut and went back to her stuff.

Dashiell, back in the room, just parked himself on the balcony, chain-smoking like there was no tomorrow.

Cigarette butts were all over the place.

Then his phone rang, snapping him out of it.

"Dad," he answered.

"I got Seraphina back, no need to stress," Atticus said.

"Okay," Dashiell nodded.

"Dashiell, about you and Seraphina..." Atticus started, trying to talk some sense into him.

"No need, Dad. I respect her choice," Dashiell cut him off.

"You guys have come so far, why throw in the towel now? Just hang in there a bit longer, maybe she'll come around. She's just being stubborn. When I picked her up, she was bawling her eyes out. You two must've had a fight, right?" Atticus asked, sounding kinda desperate.

Dashiell didn't say much.

He figured Seraphina's tears were more about feeling wronged than leaving.

"Dashiell, I've seen you grow up and your feelings for Seraphina. It's a shame you two are splitting after finally tying the knot. I'll talk to her, but you gotta stop being so stubborn, okay?" Atticus pleaded.

"Dad, let's just do what she wants. Pushing it will only mess up your relationship with her, and it's not worth it. It's tough for us to be together," Dashiell said.

"Dashiell..."

"I actually need to talk to you about something else," Dashiell switched gears.

Atticus sighed, knowing he couldn't change his mind.

What a bummer.

After finally seeing them together, now they were splitting up again.

"What is it?" Atticus asked.

"Are you free tomorrow morning? I wanna talk face-to-face," Dashiell asked.

"Yeah, I'll come by," Atticus replied.

"Thanks," Dashiell said.

"Don't mention it. No matter what happens with you and Seraphina, you're still like a son to me," Atticus said.

Sometimes, Dashiell found all this elder concern kinda suffocating, like a heavy weight on his shoulders.

Usually, only folks with low self-esteem felt that way.

After hanging up, Dashiell dialed another number, "Alaric."

"Heard you lost the baby," Alaric said bluntly.

"Yeah," Dashiell replied, a bit flat.

"My condolences."

"It's all in the past," Dashiell shrugged it off. "Just wanted to say, if you ever need anything, I'm here."

Alaric raised an eyebrow, "Weren't you trying to keep your distance?"

"I was being selfish," Dashiell admitted.

"Did Seraphina mess you up that bad?" Alaric chuckled.

He hit the nail on the head.

Dashiell chuckled too, a bit bitter, "Let's not state the obvious."

"Cassius and I can handle it. Don't worry, I'll holler if I need you," Alaric said.

"Okay," Dashiell nodded.

"How's Magnolia?" Alaric asked, "Is she upset about losing the baby?"

"She's more chill than I thought," Dashiell said.

"Then you should take a page outta her book," Alaric chuckled.

Dashiell nodded, kinda helpless. "Yeah, yeah."

"If you're really down in the dumps, I'll join you for a drink tonight," Alaric offered.

"Aren't you in Harborvale?" Dashiell asked.

"Just got off the plane," Alaric said.

Dashiell's eyebrows shot up in surprise.

"Had to come back home for a bit," Alaric joked.

"No need, man. Spend more time with Cecilia. My mom's always on my case, saying she doesn't know when the Whitaker family will have grandkids. You should get on that," Dashiell teased.

"Tell her the grandkids are on the way."

Dashiell couldn't help but laugh. "I'll be waiting for the good news then."

Alaric chuckled, clearly in a good mood.

"Alright, I won't keep you. I'll wait for your good news," Dashiell said.

"Alright, talk to you later."

"Bye."

Alaric hung up.

He came back partly because it was time, but also 'cause he was worried about Dashiell.

When Alaric got Cassius's call saying Dashiell and Seraphina lost the baby, he knew Dashiell must be feeling like crap.

But Dashiell was tougher than he thought.

Honestly, both he and Cassius thought Seraphina wasn't good enough for Dashiell.

If this could make Dashiell finally let go of Seraphina, it might be a blessing in disguise.

Alaric saw an incoming call and answered, "Cassius."

"You here yet?" Cassius asked.

"Just got off the plane, on the highway," Alaric said.

"You coming over? Got the drinks ready," Cassius asked again.

"Nah, Dashiell just called, he's fine, so I won't come over for now," Alaric declined.

"So you're ditching me again," Cassius grumbled.

"Maybe next time," Alaric said.

"So you're heading to see Cecilia now, huh?" Cassius asked.

"Yep," Alaric didn't even try to hide it.

Cassius abruptly hung up, feeling like Alaric was gonna drive him nuts one day.

He had picked out a bunch of drinks and even found some hotties for Dashiell. Now, it all seemed like a waste.

He sat in a private room at the nightclub, feeling kinda pissed.

The girls didn't dare to get close to him.

The waiters and the floor manager didn't dare to mess with Cassius either.

They all stood in a line, not daring to move.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.

Cassius shot a deadly look, sending a chill down the spine of the super bodyguard following him.

"What is it?" Cassius asked coldly.

The bodyguard took a moment to gather his courage, "A lady named Lily is looking for you."

"Who the hell is Lily?" Cassius asked.

"She said she knows you," the bodyguard said.

"I've hooked up with so many girls, do I have to remember each one?" Cassius was fuming.

"She said she's pregnant with your kid," the bodyguard said.

"What?" Cassius almost jumped off the couch.

He was always super careful, making sure to leave no traces, no consequences.

How could this be possible?

"I don't think she's lying, so I..." The bodyguard was being extra respectful.

Cassius frowned.

Which woman had the guts to mess with him?

"Let her in," Cassius ordered.

Anyway, he was bored today.

He'd play along with this chick.

The bodyguard quickly left the room.

After a bit, he brought in a woman who looked kinda familiar.
