Chapter 660 She Is Really Too Stupid

Sebastian glanced up and saw Seraphina standing there.

He hadn't expected her to just pop into his office, especially not after he'd lost his cool like that.

He swallowed hard.

Right now, there was no way to explain what had just happened.

Sebastian couldn't put into words why Dashiell's win had driven him so crazy.

Their eyes met.

They stood there in silence for a bit.

Then Seraphina broke it, "Calm down first."

She didn't shame him, but she didn't comfort him either.

Just cold, indifferent.

With that, she turned and walked out.

Sebastian's fists clenched tight.

His face twisted in frustration.

Seraphina was ignoring him more and more.

She was getting more and more disappointed in him!

Sebastian slammed his fist on the desk.

Right now, he really wanted to kill Dashiell.

Just thinking about Dashiell basking in his glory while he was miserable made him want to kill Dashiell!

Meanwhile, Seraphina went back to her office.

Sitting there, she felt a mix of emotions she couldn't quite explain.

Sebastian's change was something she couldn't wrap her head around.

Just now, acknowledging her coldness towards him, she admitted she didn't know how to deal with Sebastian. She couldn't deny that Sebastian's intense hatred for Dashiell came from his fear of her getting hurt.

Seraphina felt a pang in her chest. She never thought Sebastian would turn out like this.

To the point where she almost didn't recognize him anymore. Her eyes shifted to the ringing phone. The caller ID showed it was Sebastian.

They had just been silent, and now he was calling her.

She would've preferred to keep the cold war going.

She really didn't want to deal with Sebastian right now.

She didn't know how to face him.

But she answered the phone anyway, "Sebastian."

"Seraphina, sorry for scaring you earlier," Sebastian said, his voice calm but tinged with self-blame.

Seraphina swallowed hard.

Had she misread him earlier, or was Sebastian just that good at pretending?

How could someone change so much in such a short time?

Seraphina stayed silent.

"I admit I'm jealous of Dashiell," Sebastian said, a hint of self-mockery in his voice. "I can't even face you right now, so I'm apologizing over the phone."

Seraphina thought, 'You didn't do anything wrong to me. I just saw it and couldn't understand it.'

There were so many things she wanted to say but couldn't.

She didn't know why she was becoming more and more silent around Sebastian.

Sebastian continued, "As a rival, I always thought I was better than Dashiell. In my career, in love, I thought I had him beat. But today, Dashiell's performance made me see him differently. I always thought Mr. Everhart favored him, which is why he did so well at Everhart Bank. Today, I realized it was my own narrow-mindedness. But admitting Dashiell's strength scares me. I'm afraid his excellence will completely overshadow me. Not just at Everhart Bank, but in your heart too."

Seraphina listened.

She didn't know how to respond to Sebastian's confession."So when I got back to the office earlier, all those bottled-up emotions just exploded. Looking back, I feel pretty ashamed of myself," Sebastian said, his voice dripping with self-mockery.

Seraphina stayed silent.

"I don't know what else to say," Sebastian chuckled softly, "Maybe nothing I say will change how you see me. I'm sorry, Seraphina, for letting you down."

Seraphina swallowed hard.

In the end, she hung up without saying a word.

The silence made Sebastian's face darken.

In the past, whenever he showed a bit of vulnerability, Seraphina would always give in.

But today, she didn't offer him any comfort at all.

Her coldness was something he couldn't handle.

If this kept up, he couldn't imagine what would happen between them.

Sebastian gritted his teeth, trying to calm down.

Seraphina was his last hope.

In both his career and love life, he couldn't afford to lose her!

Later that evening, Seraphina stayed late at work, just messing around with some games in her office.

She didn't feel like moving, so she hung around a bit longer.

After a few games, she got bored.

Nothing seemed to interest her anymore.

She left the office and headed to the elevator.

The doors opened.

As she stepped in, she saw Dashiell.

Dashiell saw her too.

Their eyes met.

Before Seraphina could say anything, Dashiell looked away.

He seemed distant.

The words she was about to say died in her throat.

She just watched the numbers change on the elevator panel.

When they reached the first floor, Seraphina quickly walked out as soon as the doors opened.

Dashiell glanced at her retreating figure, then turned away indifferently.

Seraphina got into her car.

She felt completely overwhelmed.

She didn't know when it started, but she had become like this.

She felt like crying at the slightest thing.

She wanted to cry her heart out.

But she didn't.

She thought she looked stupid when she cried.

She felt stupid for living her life this way!

When she got home, she composed herself and got out of the car.

Her life alone lately felt meaningless.

As she walked inside, she pulled out her phone to order takeout.

She didn't know what she wanted, just kept scrolling, not wanting to stop.

Stopping would make her think about things she couldn't handle.

She opened the door and paused.

Inside, Sebastian was busy in the kitchen, wearing an apron, clearly making dinner for her.

Honestly, Seraphina didn't want to see him, nor did she want these surprises.

She just wanted to be alone.

"Seraphina, you're back," Sebastian smiled at her.

As if nothing had happened between them that afternoon, as if they were still in a sweet relationship.

Every time she faced Sebastian, she couldn't seem to refuse him directly.

It had become a habit.

After all these years, Seraphina couldn't change her instinctive tendency to compromise with Sebastian.

But at that moment, she thought she needed to change the door code.
