Chapter 535 Meeting Alaric (5) If I Die, Find Someone Else

Dominic stormed up to Alaric and Cecilia.

"Let her go!" Dominic demanded, his voice icy.

But Alaric just tightened his grip on Cecilia.

"I'll count to three," Dominic warned. "By then, Alaric, you should know the consequences."

Alaric didn't budge.

Cecilia started to freak out. What did Dominic mean by consequences? Could it be that Alaric often suffered torment in prison?

Cecilia pushed against Alaric. "Let me go. He won't really do anything to me."

But Alaric held on tight, keeping her close.

"Alaric," Cecilia suddenly screamed, feeling a force from behind.

A heavy kick landed on Alaric, and Cecilia felt the impact too.

She wasn't hurt, but Alaric must have been in serious pain.

Tears streamed down her face.

She felt Dominic's foot kicking Alaric over and over.

She had no idea how long it went on.

Alaric held her, taking all of Dominic's blows, shielding her.

"Let me go, Alaric. Dominic won't do anything to me," Cecilia cried, struggling.

She didn't want Alaric to protect her like this.

She was terrified Dominic would kill him.

The mere thought of Alaric possibly dying left her feeling utterly drained, her entire being consumed by overwhelming fear.

"Alaric, please, let me go!" Cecilia begged over and over.

Through the pain, Alaric said, "I won't let go, even if it kills me."

Cecilia sobbed, "What am I supposed to do if you die?"

"Find someone else," Alaric replied.

"Alaric!" Cecilia broke down in tears. Who could replace him?

Alaric whispered something in her ear, his voice so low she almost missed it. But it was clear that, in that moment, Alaric was conveying a message to her.

She looked up, wanting him to repeat it.

But she saw his strained face, his eyes signaling something.

Cecilia quickly realized there were cameras.

Their conversation was being recorded.

Alaric couldn't speak too loudly.

Dominic was so focused on beating Alaric, he didn't notice their exchange.

He was venting all his rage on Alaric, forgetting he was giving them a chance to talk.

Not that he cared.

He could always watch the footage later.

But now, he was tired of hitting.

After his mad outburst, Dominic leaned against the wall, catching his breath. He didn't expect Alaric to protect Cecilia even if it meant dying. If it were him, he would just let Cecilia die.

He didn't love her at all.

He was just possessive.

"Alaric, you can protect her now, but can you protect her forever?" Dominic sneered.

Alaric stood tall, despite his battered body.

Dominic frowned.

He didn't expect Alaric to still be standing, and his face twisted with anger.

He couldn't stand Alaric acting all high and mighty in front of him.

He stepped forward, ready to kick again.

"If I die, can you explain it?" Alaric's calm voice cut through the tension.

Dominic's foot froze mid-air.

He knew all too well about Alaric's fragile health. The prison guard had warned him that Alaric was in such bad shape, he could die any moment.

Dominic held back.

"You and Cecilia really are something, always finding a way to survive," he sneered.

Alaric didn't react to Dominic's taunt. "Dominic, here's a tip: don't seek revenge before the court's verdict. If anything goes wrong, you'll be held accountable."

Dominic clenched his fists. "Are you threatening me?"

"Believe what you want," Alaric said, turning to Cecilia. "Go back early."

Cecilia nodded, her eyes red. If she didn't leave, it would be Alaric who suffered. Without a second's delay, she ran out.

Dominic's eyes narrowed.

He had planned to torture them more, but he remembered Lyra was still at home. If he got back late and she found out, it wouldn't be easy to explain.

He held back and left.

The iron door slammed shut.

In the cold, narrow space, only Alaric remained, still standing tall.

Finally, he collapsed heavily to the ground.

He looked at the dim light in front of him.

His vision grew darker and darker.

Meanwhile, Cecilia ran out of the detention center in one breath.

The cold wind hit her, but she didn't feel it at all.

She stood at the door, waiting for Dominic.

When Dominic left, he gave specific instructions. "First, check the surveillance to see if Alaric and Cecilia said anything while hugging. Second, don't let Alaric die. Third, delete all traces of my visit, including all videos."

After giving the instructions, he walked out unhurriedly.

As soon as he came out, he saw Cecilia standing by his car door, wearing only a white tank top.

In the darkness, Cecilia seemed so lonely that he almost wanted to approach her.

But in the end, Dominic just sneered.

Alaric was right: until the court case was over, he couldn't avoid responsibility if anything happened.

Instead of rushing things now, it was wiser to wait a month or two.

In any case, he was determined to have Cecilia.

Once he was done with her, he would make her die a miserable death!

Dominic opened the car door and sat in the driver's seat.

Cecilia sat in the back seat.

The car drove away quietly.

Dominic just wanted to get home early and didn't want to focus on Cecilia anymore.

He had to admit that Cecilia's attraction to him had surpassed his control over his body, so he needed to think calmly about her.

Of course, the main point was that Cecilia had gone through so much trouble to see Alaric today, only to suffer physical and mental torment.

No matter how one looked at it, he won this round!

So he didn't need to bother with Cecilia anymore!
