Chapter 635 Do You Think I'm Not Good Enough to You?

"I've already called it," Alaric said with a grin, "It's definitely a girl."

"I'm the one who's pregnant!" Cecilia shot back, rolling her eyes.

"Yeah, but my genes decide the baby's gender," Alaric replied, smirking.

"So, it's a girl for sure," he chuckled to himself.

His smile made everything feel so real.

But what if it was a boy?

Cecilia thought it was too early to stress about that.

The fact that she was actually pregnant still felt surreal.

In her past life, she had wished for this for so long.

And in this life, she had been hoping for it too.

Finally, she was pregnant.

Cecilia felt a warm glow in her heart because of the pregnancy.

Alaric held Cecilia's hand as they slowly walked out of the hospital.

Cecilia wondered how Alaric, with his long legs, could walk so slowly.

But she didn't mind.

They strolled out of the hospital at a leisurely pace.

This feeling made Cecilia feel very comfortable.

It was as if the pace of life had slowed down.

"Alaric!" Cassius's voice boomed from behind.

Cecilia wasn't startled.

But Alaric jumped.

Who was really pregnant, Cecilia or Alaric?

They turned to look at Cassius.

Alaric quickly shielded Cecilia behind him.

Cecilia frowned. Wasn't that a bit much?

Seeing this, Cassius noticed something was off. He stood in front of Alaric, a bit annoyed. "Am I that dangerous? Do you really need to be so defensive?"

Alaric didn't bother to explain anything to Cassius and asked impatiently, "What do you want?"

"Can't I just call you? We rarely run into each other at the hospital. Should I just ignore you?" Cassius said, annoyed.

"Didn't you call me to the hospital? That's not a coincidence," Alaric said seriously.

Cassius rolled his eyes.

Alaric's attitude had changed too quickly.

When Cassius called earlier to say Cecilia had secretly come to the hospital, Alaric wasn't like this.

Of course, Cassius wasn't a petty person.

Alaric's behavior of only caring about Cecilia wasn't going to change anyway.

Cassius asked, "How's Cecilia? Is she sick?"

"You're the one who's sick!" Alaric retorted.

Cassius looked frustrated.

Was it wrong to show some concern?

Was Alaric crazy?

"Can you treat Lily better?" Alaric seemed to notice Lily, who was left behind by Cassius.

Yet Lily seemed fine.

She walked behind Cassius at a leisurely pace, probably not expecting much from Cassius.

Cassius glanced back at Lily.

Lily was fine. What special treatment did she need?

"You're about to be a father. Act mature," Alaric continued to criticize.

After saying a few words to Cassius, Alaric took Cecilia's hand and left.

Cassius watched Alaric and Cecilia's backs, seeing how carefully Alaric treated Cecilia. He felt they were hiding something.

"Let's go." Lily finally caught up to Cassius.

However, Cassius continued to watch Alaric and Cecilia's backs.

Lily looked in the same direction.

She thought Alaric and Cecilia looked very loving.

"By the way, is Ms. Lockhart okay?" Lily asked Cassius.

Cassius murmured, "There's a big problem."

"What is it?" Lily asked, a bit nervous. She always saw Cecilia as her benefactor.

Cecilia was the only one who gave her a shot in the entertainment industry.

She was always grateful.

"She's pregnant!" Cassius said confidently, with a sly grin.

Did Alaric think he could hide it from him?

They had grown up together, and Cassius could always tell what Alaric was up to.

Noticing how protective Alaric was of Cecilia, Cassius was sure beyond a doubt that she must be pregnant!

"What?" Lily was surprised.

Didn't Cecilia just deny it?

Then Lily thought to herself, wasn't it natural to be pregnant?

She had occasionally heard Cassius mention at home that Alaric wanted a child, but they had been married for almost a year without any success.

She didn't expect it to happen so soon.

Anyway, congratulations were in order.

"No wonder Mr. Whitaker is so careful with Ms. Lockhart," Lily said enviously.

Hearing this, Cassius frowned slightly.

He turned to look at Lily.

Lily felt a bit nervous under his gaze.

Did she say something wrong?

"Do you think I'm not good to you?" Cassius suddenly asked.

Lily was startled and quickly shook her head. "No."

Cassius frowned.

He felt Lily was too cautious around him.

Lily spoke earnestly, "Mr. Blackburn, you've been incredibly kind to me. My life is quite comfortable now, but I know you often get into trouble with your father because of me, and I can't help but feel guilty about that. To be honest, I have no complaints about you whatsoever."

Cassius looked at Lily. Since she moved into his house after getting pregnant, she had been obedient and tried not to disturb him. Sometimes, he felt she was like air, not causing any ripples in his life.

With his status, most women would flock to him, but Lily remained calm and restrained her desires. He had a newfound respect for her.

When Lily seduced him, Cassius was prepared to give her some benefits. Now that she was pregnant, he planned to give her more. He was sure Lily wouldn't dare use the child to threaten him. Her lack of ambition made him feel he owed her something.

He used to just pay off women.

Cassius pursed his lips. "You don't need to be so afraid of me. I'm not as scary as you think. As long as you don't provoke me, I won't do anything to you."

"Got it," Lily nodded obediently.

It still felt very unfamiliar.

Yet Cassius wasn't someone who cared much about women. He just needed to make things clear.

He then swaggered ahead.

Lily watched Cassius's back and took a deep breath.

In fact, every interaction with Cassius made her feel oppressed.

She knew that even if she married Cassius and had his child, it wouldn't change a thing. She never dared to hope for anything more; in fact, she wanted to leave as soon as possible. All she wished for was to return to work after giving birth and to pursue her own life and career.

As for the child, from the moment she had to have it, she knew she would owe it a lot.

Thinking of this, she caught up with Cassius.

Lily had a strong feeling the baby would be born in the next few days.
