Chapter 730 Elevator Horror (1)
Seraphina spoke very naturally.
She didn't notice the cold glint in Sebastian's eyes.
Sebastian had thought that with Dashiell gone, Atticus would trust him again. But to his surprise, after waiting so long, Dashiell returned just like that, and Atticus handed the power back to Dashiell without any consideration.
Sebastian couldn't understand it at all.
But in front of Seraphina, he naturally wouldn't show it.
"Well, now that Mr. Everhart is no longer in charge, you won't have to work for Mr. Everhart anymore!" Sebastian said with a smile.
"That's one way to look at it." Seraphina nodded.
"Where did you go this morning?" Sebastian asked.
"I went to see Cecilia. She's pregnant and not feeling well, so I went to keep her company."
"Speaking of Cecilia, I thought of Alaric. Alaric is now very popular in the Yakurosean Empire. I heard he will be the sole heir of the Royal Family of Whitaker and will manage the Yakurosean Empire again," Sebastian said.
"Yeah, so Cecilia will become the First Lady, the highest-ranking woman in the Yakurosean Empire. Just thinking about it is exciting," Seraphina mused.
"Who would have thought that Alaric, who wasn't very remarkable, would have such a special status?"
"Alaric is very remarkable, okay!" Seraphina retorted. "Alaric may seem unserious because he's so handsome, but in fact, he's very capable and loves Cecilia a lot. He's much better than Dominic. Luckily, Cecilia was smart back then."
"Yes," Sebastian agreed.
He really didn't dare to provoke Alaric and Cecilia now.
Seraphina talked about Cecilia and Alaric for a while, and her mood suddenly changed. One moment she was boasting, and the next she was suddenly quiet.
"What's wrong?" Sebastian asked.
Seraphina bit her lip lightly.
She thought of what Cecilia had said, telling her to break up with Sebastian decisively.
But looking at Sebastian, who was so concerned about her at the moment, she couldn't bring herself to say it.
"Weren't you happy just now? Why do you suddenly seem down? Are you feeling unwell?" Sebastian asked with concern.
Seraphina shook her head. "I just thought of some work I need to handle, and it's a bit annoying."
"Don't be annoyed. If there's anything you don't want to do, give it to me. I'll help you."
"No need, you're busy too," Seraphina brushed him off. "I'll handle the work."
"Okay, then let's have dinner together tonight."
"I want to go to Cecilia's tonight. Alaric is busy in Astralton City, and I want to keep her company."
"That's true," Sebastian said considerately. "You haven't seen each other for a long time, and you must miss each other. We see each other every day and can have dinner anytime."
"Okay."
Sebastian left with a smile.
As soon as he left Seraphina's office, his expression changed instantly.
He returned to his office coldly.
He knew very well that as long as Dashiell was around, he would never get Everhart Bank in his lifetime.
In terms of ability, he couldn't compare to Dashiell.
In terms of relationships, Atticus favored Dashiell more.
He even felt that with Dashiell around for so long, Seraphina would belong to Dashiell, too.
Sebastian's eyes turned ruthless.
The idea that had long been brewing in his mind had never been acted upon.
Now he had to take action.
Sebastian gritted his teeth and dialed a number. "Tonight, follow my instructions."
"Yes."
After hanging up, Sebastian smiled cruelly.
Don't blame him for being ruthless; it was all Dashiell's fault!
On Dashiell's first day back at work, he got so caught up in handling tasks that he forgot to take a break.
Although Atticus had been managing Everhart Bank personally during this time, it was clear that most things were in a mess. It was obvious that Atticus wasn't very attentive, perhaps due to his old age or because he had gotten used to a period of leisure and couldn't adapt to the sudden busyness.
So Dashiell needed a lot of time to straighten things out.
Dashiell stretched, saved his files, and then shut down his computer to leave.
As soon as he opened his office door, Seraphina appeared at the entrance.
Dashiell's eyes flickered. "What's up?"
If he remembered correctly, it was already 10 PM.
At this hour, even the latest-working employees had already left.
"This is my work handover sheet," Seraphina said, handing Dashiell a document. "Even if you think it's useless, I need to organize my work. I don't like people coming to ask me questions all the time."
Dashiell took the document without looking at it.
He acknowledged it with a sound.
Then he turned and placed the document on his desk before getting up to leave.
Seraphina glanced at the document she had painstakingly organized all night, pursed her lips, and said nothing.
She followed Dashiell into the elevator.
At this hour, there really was no one else in the company.
Even the cleaning staff had gone home.
In the quiet elevator.
Neither of them spoke.
Dashiell kept his eyes on the descending numbers.
Seraphina turned her head to the side.
"Spend more time with Cecilia," Dashiell suddenly said.
Seraphina was taken aback.
She found Dashiell's sudden concern a bit strange.
"Alaric isn't around, and she might feel lonely being pregnant at home."
"Since when did you care so much about her?" Seraphina looked at Dashiell.
Dashiell didn't respond.
"You don't have a thing for Cecilia, do you?" Seraphina asked.
Dashiell didn't want to engage in conversation anymore.
Seraphina also felt it was unlikely.
She pursed her lips. "Okay, I'll go keep her company when I have time."
She had planned to go see Cecilia tonight.
She just wanted to finish organizing her work first, but Dashiell didn't seem to care.
With that, they fell silent again.
The distance between them grew.
Seraphina also watched the changing numbers in the elevator.
Suddenly.
The elevator jolted.
Seraphina was startled.
Before she could react, the elevator jolted again.
With that jolt, the lights in the elevator went out.
Seraphina screamed.
The sudden darkness and the shaking of the elevator terrified her.
Dashiell also sensed something was wrong at that moment.
He quickly reached out and pressed all the floor buttons, then swiftly moved back to the elevator handrail, gripping it tightly, half-squatting to maintain his balance.
"Come here!" Dashiell called to Seraphina.
Seraphina was already in a panic.
"Seraphina, come to me!" Dashiell called urgently.
Seraphina forced herself to calm down.
Just as she was about to move towards Dashiell.
The elevator shook again.
Suddenly, it plummeted.
At the same time.
Seraphina felt a strong arm pull her into an embrace, and a pair of large hands tightly protected her head.
