Chapter 587 Seraphina Discovers Her Feelings

To Seraphina, her relationship with Dashiell was strictly business, no personal strings attached.

So when Dashiell casually suggested they grab some food, she figured it was just a typical, whatever kind of thing between coworkers. She never thought he'd actually tag along to the restaurant.

If she'd known, she might've picked somewhere other than Spice Joy Restaurant.

After all, Dashiell can't handle spicy food.

Seraphina couldn't figure out why she suddenly started caring about Dashiell.

Maybe it was because of how he was acting.

His unexpected moves today made her see him differently, and she kinda admired him for it.

"What are you getting?" Seraphina asked Dashiell, who was sitting across from her, after she ordered her food.

"Whatever."

"You still can't handle spicy food?" Seraphina asked.

"Don't worry about me," Dashiell replied, sounding indifferent.

Seraphina rolled her eyes. 'Who wants to worry about you? It is just a polite question.'

Still, she ended up ordering two dishes without any chili.

After ordering, Seraphina asked the waiter to bring some red wine.

"Do you drink?" Seraphina asked.

"No," Dashiell declined.

Seraphina didn't push it and started drinking on her own.

Dashiell watched her drink, swallowing whatever he was about to say.

Soon, the food started arriving.

Seraphina was starving and dug in like there was no tomorrow.

Dashiell didn't eat much.

The first dishes were super spicy Mexican food, and Dashiell was allergic to chili.

Seraphina didn't really care about Dashiell.

He wouldn't starve, after all.

The dinner table was unusually quiet.

In the silence, Seraphina's phone suddenly rang.

Seraphina frowned. 'Who is calling me at this time?'

Reluctantly, she took off her disposable gloves, put down the shrimp she was holding, and grabbed her phone.

Seeing Sebastian's name on the caller ID, Seraphina paused.

She glanced at Dashiell and then answered, "Sebastian."

Dashiell stayed expressionless.

He suddenly put on the disposable gloves from the table and started peeling shrimp.

Seraphina frowned. Didn't Dashiell not eat spicy food?

For some reason, watching Dashiell's clean, slender hands peeling shrimp looked really elegant, and the peeled shrimp were perfect.

Unlike her messy peeling.

"Seraphina!" Sebastian's voice was noticeably heavier.

Seraphina quickly snapped back to reality and asked, "What did you just say?"

Sebastian frowned.

Lately, he could clearly feel Seraphina's lack of attention towards him.

"I asked where you are right now," Sebastian said, trying to keep his cool.

"I'm having dinner."

"Having dinner this late?"

"Yeah, I was with Dashiell handling a disturbance, and we just finished," Seraphina explained.

"Where?"

"Spice Joy Restaurant," Seraphina replied.

"Are you alone?"

"No, Dashiell is here too," Seraphina didn't hide it from Sebastian.

Sebastian's grip on his phone tightened.

The fact that Dashiell had quickly resolved the disturbance already annoyed him, and now he found out that Seraphina was still with Dashiell this late.

Was Seraphina's distraction earlier also because of Dashiell?

"Do you want to join us?" Seraphina seemed to sense a bit of Sebastian's emotion and quickly asked.

Since she was dating Sebastian, she naturally cared about his feelings.

If it were Sebastian having dinner alone with another woman, she might get jealous too.

"I've already eaten," Sebastian said. "I'll come pick you up."

"Okay," Seraphina reluctantly agreed.

They chatted a bit more before hanging up.

Seraphina looked up at Dashiell's unchanged expression. Throughout her phone call, Dashiell showed no reaction.

She said, "Sebastian is coming to pick me up."

Dashiell just nodded slightly.

"I'm done eating. It's getting late, and I need to head back early," Seraphina muttered to herself, then called the waiter, "Bring me the main course."

"Yes," the waiter responded respectfully.

Dashiell just watched Seraphina's sudden unease.

Was she afraid Sebastian might misunderstand something, so she wanted to finish the main course and leave quickly?

Dashiell suddenly dumped all the peeled shrimp into the trash can beside him.

Seraphina's eyes widened, "Why did you throw them away?"

"I'm not eating them."

"Then why did you peel them?"

"Needed something to do."

Seraphina was really speechless, "If you're not eating them, you could have given them to me."

"I don't want to."

Dashiell was becoming more and more shameless.

Dashiell suddenly stood up, "I'm done. I'm leaving."

"Your food hasn't even arrived!" Seraphina was really frustrated. 'He must be crazy, acting so strangely.'

Dashiell seemed not to hear and left directly.

Seraphina was so angry she couldn't even eat.

What was so great about Dashiell, being so arrogant?

When she had the power, the first thing she would do was fire him from Everhart Bank!

Seraphina angrily finished her dinner.

She ate quickly, and just as she finished paying and walked out of the restaurant, she saw Sebastian's car parked at the entrance.

Sebastian quickly got out of the car and gentlemanly opened the passenger door for Seraphina.

Seraphina felt a wave of emotion.

For some reason, Sebastian's kindness made her feel a bit guilty.

But she didn't even know what she was feeling guilty about.

"Did Dashiell leave?" Sebastian asked casually as he drove.

"Yes, he left early."

"How did the disturbance get handled today?"

"Pretty well," Seraphina replied. "Dashiell is very capable."

"Is that so?" Sebastian chuckled lightly, revealing no emotion.

But Seraphina sensed his displeasure.

She wanted to explain, but the words got stuck in her throat.

She didn't feel like explaining anymore.

The car stopped at the entrance of Seraphina's apartment complex.

Seraphina unbuckled her seatbelt and prepared to get out.

Her arm was suddenly grabbed by Sebastian.

At the same time, Sebastian's head moved closer to Seraphina.

Seraphina froze for two seconds, and just as his lips were about to touch hers, she turned her head.

The kiss landed on her cheek.

Such an obvious rejection.

Not only was Sebastian surprised, but Seraphina was also shocked.

She bit her lip, clearly feeling Sebastian's change in mood.

But she didn't offer any explanation.

Instead, Sebastian said, "You've had a long day. Go get some rest."

Seraphina looked at Sebastian, seeing his continued gentleness and affection, as if her small action hadn't affected him at all, and he still loved her deeply.

Her heart felt inexplicably heavy.

She said, "Sebastian, I think between us..."
