Chapter 619 A Narrow Encounter with an Old Foe

In the car, Seraphina stared at the sunset outside the window.

Out of nowhere, she found herself at a loss for words.

Cecilia didn't say much either. She just summed it up, "Everything is exactly like how you feel right now."

"I was just asking casually," Seraphina shot back.

It was clear she was trying to hide something.

Cecilia chuckled softly, "When it comes to matters of the heart, only the person involved knows the situation. Seraphina, don't miss out on your love."

"Don't try to persuade me," Seraphina said firmly. "I'm almost at the salon, so I won't talk to you anymore."

Cecilia didn't push further.

She knew a simple reminder was enough for someone like Seraphina.

She couldn't help but think that the Seraphina from her past life would have ended up liking Dashiell in the end.

Seraphina was just too stubborn to admit it.

And Seraphina probably felt she wasn't good enough for Dashiell anymore.

So she didn't want to mess up Dashiell's life.

Even when she died in her past life, the edited text message was never sent.

Cecilia felt a pang in her heart.

Thinking about Seraphina's fate in her past life made her uncomfortable.

Luckily, now, she wouldn't let Seraphina repeat the same mistakes.

At that moment, Seraphina arrived at the salon, ready to enjoy some top-notch service.

She had just changed into a comfy towel and was about to take a bath when she spotted Magnolia.

She hadn't seen Magnolia since divorcing Dashiell.

She always thought Magnolia would get back together with Atticus. After all, Atticus was loaded. Back then, Magnolia must have been drawn to Atticus's money. Well, even if it wasn't for the money, they had feelings for each other, and Magnolia would marry Atticus. But after all this time, there was still no sign of Magnolia and Atticus getting back together.

What was Magnolia thinking?

Magnolia's face clearly darkened when she saw Seraphina.

When Seraphina had a miscarriage, she kept quiet about it. Later, after her divorce from Dashiell, it only deepened her bias against Seraphina.

"After leaving Dashiell, your life hasn't been great, has it?" Magnolia looked Seraphina up and down, clearly noticing her poor skin condition and the pimples on her chin.

Seraphina was speechless. "You're overthinking it. I'm just under a lot of work pressure. Unlike you, who only knows how to eat, drink, and have fun every day, keeping yourself so well-maintained. I wonder which man you're trying to seduce now."

Magnolia's face turned ashen.

But she kept her cool and wouldn't argue with Seraphina.

She replied coolly, maintaining her air of a wealthy lady, "I take care of myself to satisfy my own aesthetic. A woman should be confident and elegant throughout her life. I just don't get how young people today still believe that dressing nicely is meant to please others!"

Seraphina was so angry she almost choked.

"By the way, I heard you're Dashiell's subordinate?" Magnolia continued, "With such high work pressure, making yourself look like this, you're just subservient to others. Should I praise you for your hard work or for your lack of ability?"

"Magnolia!" Seraphina gritted her teeth. "You used to flatter me when you were my stepmother, and now your attitude has shifted so quickly! Can you be any more despicable?"Magnolia shot back, "I flattered you back then because you were young and needed care. I could understand your immaturity. But now you're an adult, you've worked, been married, divorced, and gone through so much, yet you're still so immature! Why should I tolerate you?"

"You!" Seraphina was ready to throw down.

If it weren't for Magnolia's age, Seraphina would have confronted her without hesitation.

Magnolia sneered, "It's a good thing Dashiell doesn't love you anymore. Otherwise, I'd really worry about his future."

With that, Magnolia strutted off, exuding arrogance.

Seraphina was so mad she wanted to scream!

She was the one who left Dashiell, so what was Magnolia so proud of?

Seraphina was going crazy with anger.

It took a while for the staff's kind comfort to calm her down enough to take a bath and get her beauty treatment.

After the beauty treatment, Seraphina lay down on the luxurious bed in the salon and fell asleep.

She had been so tired lately that she hadn't had a good rest.

With such comfortable service, she quickly fell into a deep sleep, enjoying many beautiful dreams and letting out soft moans.

The staff attending to Seraphina couldn't help but laugh.

Was Seraphina dreaming about having sex?

Her face was flushed, her breathing was rapid, and occasionally there were soft moans.

Even as a woman, the staff blushed listening to it.

It was hard to tell how much time had passed when Seraphina woke up, seemingly at the most crucial moment. She jolted upright in bed, feeling a bit dazed as she blinked at her surroundings.

Where had the intimate moment she'd just been experiencing gone? The one that had been building to a climax—where did it disappear to?

"Ms. Everhart, are you awake?" the staff member asked as she noticed Seraphina sitting up, looking bewildered.

Seraphina shook off her confusion and focused on her surroundings.

She turned to look at the staff, and after a while, she remembered she was at the salon.

She hadn't had sex with a man.

But the image of the man's strong, powerful, and sexy body lingered in her mind.

Damn.

Was she really so desperate for a man?

She actually dreamed about having sex.

"Ms. Everhart, I see you're all sweaty. Would you like to take another bath?" the staff asked softly.

Seraphina then realized she was all sweaty.

She quickly got up from the bed and replied, "Okay!"

The staff swiftly arranged a bath for her, filling it with rose petals and a creamy milk soak.

After thoroughly cleaning herself inside and out, Seraphina felt refreshed.

Admiring her vibrant reflection in the mirror, she couldn't help but appreciate the lavish aura that wealth infused into her appearance.

From now on, she would never compromise herself again.

She walked out of the salon, contemplating where to grab a drink—getting a little tipsy would only make it better.

Just as she was about to call a friend, her phone rang.

Seraphina frowned, silently vowing to herself, 'If they ask me to work overtime now, there's no way I'm going.'

She gritted her teeth and answered.

"Ms. Everhart, Mr. Rainier just requested some original data, but I don't have it. Could you check if you do? I sent the details to your phone," came the urgent voice of Dashiell's secretary, Daphne Morgan.

Hearing this, Seraphina impatiently looked at the message on her phone and thought for a moment. "I think it's on my computer," she said.

"Where did you put it? Can I check your computer now?" Daphne's voice was laced with urgency.
