Chapter 473 The Game (18) Sebastian Gets Crushed

After Dominic bailed, he got swamped with a ton of work.

First off, he threw a press conference, dragging Penelope and Octavia along to fess up to their loan fraud, but they pinned everything on Nathaniel. From start to finish, they played the victim card hard.

Long story short, they scored a bunch of sympathy points.

The media lauded the Kingsley Group for their swift apology and commitment to rectifying the loan fraud, praising their proactive response and remorse. They were down to take the legal hit and should be cut some slack.

Cecilia watched the news and saw a bunch of internet trolls hyping up the Kingsley Group for being so "responsible."

What was originally the Kingsley Group's screw-up had now turned into some kind of positive lesson, which Cecilia found kinda funny.

She got a call from Dashiell. "Cecilia, Dominic just hit up Atticus. He said he'd pay back the fraudulent loan with interest to Everhart Bank by 3 PM today."

"Okay." Cecilia nodded.

"Where'd Dominic get the cash? Think it's from some shady deal?" Dashiell wondered.

"Nope. If I'm right, the money's from the Monroe Family."

"You mean, Lyra?" Dashiell asked.

"Yeah. Dominic's always got some sneaky tricks up his sleeve," Cecilia sneered. "He's always been good at playing women."

"But he didn't get you," Dashiell pointed out.

"Did you forget how I made it through?" Cecilia raised an eyebrow.

Dashiell suddenly remembered Cecilia had said she came back to life.

He totally believed it.

But every time, he still found it kinda funny.

He couldn't help but chuckle.

The office door suddenly swung open.

Dashiell turned and saw Seraphina, and his smile vanished.

Seraphina frowned.

Was it necessary to be so cold to her?

She said coldly, "Atticus wants to see you in his office."

"Okay." Dashiell nodded.

After telling him, Seraphina turned and stormed off.

Why did Atticus make her tell Dashiell?

She wasn't his secretary!

Dashiell said into the phone, "Atticus wants to see me in his office now. It's probably about Dominic paying back the money. Maybe you should come over."

"Okay."

After hanging up, Dashiell got up and left.

When he reached the door, surprisingly, Seraphina was still there.

He thought she would've left after telling him.

"I'm afraid Atticus will say I'm unreliable," Seraphina explained.

Dashiell said nothing.

They walked into the elevator one after the other.

"Who were you talking to that made you so happy?" Seraphina couldn't help but ask.

"A friend," Dashiell didn't want to hide it from Seraphina.

But he didn't want to tell her that Cecilia was coming to Everhart Bank. After all, Seraphina was now with Sebastian, and if she let it slip, it would mess up their plan.

Seraphina glanced at Dashiell, asking, "Penelope, right?"

Dashiell didn't answer.

"Isn't she coming over to return the loan soon?" Seraphina asked, trying to keep her cool.

Dashiell stayed quiet.

Seraphina was getting pretty ticked off by his silence.

Just as she was about to blow up, Dashiell said calmly, "Next time, knock before you barge into my office."

Seraphina felt a lump in her throat.

She couldn't catch her breath for a while.

The elevator doors opened, and Dashiell walked past her, cold as ice.

His steps were a bit wobbly, but his presence was still strong.

Seraphina watched Dashiell's back. 'Men are so damn fickle!'

When he said he loved her, he was all about making her happy.

Now that they were done, his attitude was trash!

Seraphina swallowed her anger and followed Dashiell into Atticus's office.

Sebastian was already there, sitting at the desk.

Dashiell and Seraphina took seats opposite him.

Atticus got straight to the point, "The Kingsley Group will be here soon to return the money. Before they arrive, I want to go over some key points with you."

"Can I skip this?" Seraphina cut in.

This wasn't her job.

"No way," Atticus said firmly.

"This isn't part of my job description," Seraphina shot back.

"As my only daughter, you need to be involved in all major or minor events at Everhart Bank!"

Seraphina gritted her teeth.

Atticus continued, "Unless you tell me now that you don't want Everhart Bank. If that's the case, I'll let you leave immediately and hand over all the work to Dashiell."

"Are you nuts? You're giving the company to Dashiell?" Seraphina was fuming.

"So, whether you want to be involved in the company's affairs is up to you." Atticus didn't seem in the mood to argue.

Seraphina's face turned red with anger. She snapped, "Fine, you're the boss!"

"Then shut up and listen carefully!" Atticus ordered coldly.

He didn't give Seraphina any respect.

He turned to Dashiell and Sebastian and said, "Even though this matter got sorted out, it was still a screw-up. Initially, it was due to Sebastian's lack of oversight. Luckily, this incident didn't hit us too hard, and you fixed it in time. I'll give you a warning this time and won't hold you accountable. You need to reflect on this."

"Yes," Sebastian said respectfully.

"And Dashiell, as Sebastian's superior, you're also responsible for any mistakes he makes. I won't blame you this time since you're new to the company, and this project was reported directly to me by Sebastian. You weren't involved, so I'll let it slide. But from today on, your responsibilities are clear. Any project handled by Sebastian must be reviewed by you. Sebastian will report to you first, and if it's beyond your authority, then you report to me. Sebastian, remember not to bypass the chain of command."

Sebastian's face clearly changed slightly.

So, from now on, he would need Dashiell's approval for everything he did.

Naturally, he felt very uncomfortable.

But at that moment, he had no choice but to say, "Okay, I'll be more careful in the future."
