Chapter 256 Throw Yourself at Me
In the darkness, with silence enveloping them, Cecilia was drifting toward sleep, lulled by the steady rhythm of Alaric's heartbeat.
"Don't you want to know why I called a stop earlier?" Alaric suddenly broke the quiet.
Cecilia jolted awake, caught off guard by the unexpected question. It took her a moment to process what he had said.
"I was worried about aggravating your injuries," Cecilia replied calmly.
Initially, she had felt disappointment. Yet, her rational mind was still intact.
Alaric's wounds weren't fully healed; vigorous activity would definitely strain them. Maurice had clearly warned that the injury was dangerously close to his heart, and any mishap could be fatal.
"No." Alaric refuted Cecilia, saying, "I was waiting for you to throw yourself at me."
Cecilia smiled disdainfully.
She suddenly felt that his overconfidence might not be a bad thing.
At least her virginity was preserved.
If Alaric hadn't forcibly stopped tonight, she might have really given in to him, and after that, she was a hundred percent sure she would regret it.
She would regret her impulsiveness.
No matter how indifferent she was to material things, she didn't want to give her virginity to just anyone.
She'd rather let it go to waste than be misused by a man.
At this point, Cecilia chose not to argue with Alaric.
It was already past 2 AM. After everything they'd been through, she needed her sleep. Tomorrow—every day, really—would be packed with tasks.
She turned away from him, clearly signaling she intended to sleep.
She had come back very late, and after both of them had been entangled for so long, it was already 2 A.M.. She had to ensure her sleep because tomorrow, or to be precise, every day, there would be many things to do.
But Alaric, lacking any subtlety, spoke again. "Will you be really upset when I stopped?"
Cecilia frowned and thought, 'Is he talking in his sleep?
'What nonsense is he spouting?'
Alaric pulled her closer, his embrace tight. "I'm starting to think we don't need to wait for you to make a move."
Cecilia's whole body stiffened because Alaric was stirring.
"Alaric!" Cecilia was furious.
Alaric struggled to keep himself under control, holding her tightly. It seemed he was fighting to stay calm and not let his thoughts wander.
But holding Cecilia's soft body made it hard for him not to think too much.
"I'm suffocating." Cecilia was really about to be driven mad by Alaric.
Alaric said, "If you're suffocating and I can't release, isn't that a perfect match?"
Cecilia said, "Phycho."
Cecilia eventually fell asleep under Alaric's torment.
She was afraid that she might suffocate in her sleep because of Alaric.
In her hazy state, she thought she heard Alaric whisper. "Cecilia, I don't want you to regret this…"
Cecilia pondered,'Am I dreaming?
'Or is it the person beside me whispering in my ear?'
She was too sleepy, so sleepy that she couldn't distinguish reality from dreams.
The next day, Cecilia's alarm went off.
Alaric directly turned it off.
Cecilia squirmed a little, and it was clear she was rubbing against him.
Alaric's body stiffened. He pondered, 'Who is really being tortured by sharing a bed with Cecilia?'
He took a deep breath, slowly relaxing himself, and continued to sleep while holding the soft Cecilia.
When Cecilia finally woke up, she felt refreshingly clear-headed. It was as if she had not slept so soundly in a long time. The restfulness was something she hadn't felt in ages.
She turned to look at Alaric beside her. He seemed to still be asleep.
She had thought that sleeping next to him would make her restless, but she'd slept quite well.
She wondered if Alaric had felt the same way.
She suddenly smiled.
Looking at such a mesmerizing face, she felt at ease.
His looks were such a gift; even knowing his flaws, many women would still flock to him.
She couldn't help but gently tap his perfectly shaped nose.
Cecilia pondered, 'How could someone's nose be so good-looking?
'Even artificial ones might not be this perfect.'
She stared unblinkingly, from his nose to his lips.
Cecilia sometimes deliberately avoided looking at Alaric's lips.
She always felt that this man's lips had a magical power, making women want to get closer.
At the moment, for example, after gazing at his lips for a while, she found herself drawn in, unable to resist.
So, she leaned in and kissed him.
It was a delicate, fleeting kiss—a mere touch of appreciation for something beautiful.
But as she pulled away, she suddenly felt a tightening at the back of her head, accompanied by Alaric's deep, husky voice murmuring, "Not enough."
Cecilia felt her heart racing.
His touch lingered on her lips, leaving an inescapable sensation.
Alaric had clearly been biting her playfully, leaving her lips swollen.
Alaric reminded, "Ms. Lockhart, you'd better not to tease me early in the morning. I can't guarantee that my lower half will always follow my orders."
Alaric pulled Cecilia's hand under the covers...
Cecilia's face instantly turned red.
Cecilia shouted, "Alaric, you..."
"Shh." Alaric placed a playful kiss on her lips and said with a cheeky grin, "Take care of your own stuff, or you might scare it away."
Cecilia pondered, 'Bastard. I don't want that thing to solely be mine!. Who knows how many people have used it?
'I feel like my hand is going to rot from touching it.'
She quickly pulled her hand out of Alaric's grasp, lifted the covers, and went to the bathroom to wash up.
Alaric watched her hurried retreat with a smug smile.
He leisurely sat up in bed and noticed two missed calls from Cassius on his silent phone. He dialed back.
"Cassius."
"Maurice told you to take it easy, don't ignore his advice." Cassius spoke bluntly.
"What's up?" Alaric ignored Cassius and got straight to the point.
Cassius said, "The investigation into the three companies you asked about is progressing. We've identified who signed contracts with the Lockhart family. Should I abduct these people to ensure they testify, or…"
"Don't act rashly, if we alert the enemy, it will be counterproductive." Alaric instructed, "Just have someone monitor their movements, make sure they don't suddenly disappear. Also, to ensure they tell the truth in court, find some leverage on them so they have to follow our orders. I'm worried the other side has already bought them off."
Cassius replied, "Got it."
Alaric continued, "By the way, investigate William thoroughly..."
Before he could finish his sentence, a scream came from the bathroom.
Alaric's ears were almost deafened.
Cecilia, coming out of the bathroom and picking up her phone, suddenly screamed.
Cassius, on the other end, was startled, asking, "You had sex and made her orgasm like that?"
