Chapter 197 Escape, Alaric's Bloody Terror

Cecilia was wrapped tightly in Alaric's arms.

They were in a huge, empty warehouse.

Alan, who Cecilia had kicked in the groin, was writhing on the ground. The guy who tried to assault her stood frozen, and Rebecca looked stunned, her eyes glued to Alaric, not believing he was there.

Right then, Alaric only had eyes for Cecilia.

He took off his white shirt and draped it over her nearly naked body. The blood on her stained the shirt red. His face was emotionless but intimidating.

Alaric buttoned the shirt on her carefully, covering her up.

Cecilia kept her eyes on him.

She watched his gentle movements, even though his face stayed cold.

After holding it together all night, Cecilia finally broke down.

She was actually okay.

Just some minor injuries, and she hadn't been raped.

But seeing Alaric, feeling his warmth, made her tears fall uncontrollably.

"Don't cry," Alaric's voice was low, like he was holding something back.

He wiped her tears with his fingers.

"I'll protect you," he said.

Cecilia cried even harder.

She never thought she'd be protected and moved by a man again.

Through her tears, she looked at Alaric.

She saw his gentle face, but his eyes were cold.

His lips moved slightly, "Jasper."

Only then did Cecilia notice Jasper was there too.

He stood by, emotionless and unmoving.

He handed a black handgun to Alaric with respect.

Cecilia's sense of security turned to fear.

She saw the murderous look in Alaric's eyes.

"Alaric..." she called out, panicked.

"Don't look," Alaric's voice was still gentle.

Cecilia shook her head, over and over.

The Yakurosean Empire was a country of laws.

Alaric couldn't kill anyone.

She clung to his clothes, trying to stop him.

She didn't want him to fall into crime for her.

Alaric saw her distress.

At that moment, he even smiled.

He said, "That's the world you know."

In Alaric's world, it never was!

He covered her eyes with his hand. Then, a gunshot rang in her ears.

She felt the recoil from Alaric's arm as the bullet fired.

A man's scream echoed in the cold, silent space.

Cecilia's body trembled.

She instinctively wanted to look.

But he held her tight, and the next second, he kissed her gently.

Her heart stirred.

It was Alaric stopping her from looking.

He let her go.

His eyes now seemed a bit tender.

His expression and actions seemed totally out of place.

Cecilia stared at Alaric.

This Alaric was nothing like the one she remembered.

"You know nothing. I did it all," Alaric said quietly, like he was taking all the blame on himself.

Cecilia didn't want to absolve herself.

She just wanted Alaric to be okay.

Her eyes turned red.

Feeling helpless, she hugged him tightly, her nails digging into his skin without her realizing it. Alaric didn't even flinch.

He lifted her by the waist.

Cecilia instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.

As he lifted her, she saw the warehouse was filled with bodyguards.

They looked confident and intimidating.

No wonder the two guys with Rebecca didn't resist when Alaric showed up.

They knew they couldn't win.

Alaric stood over the man bleeding on the ground, looking down at him.

"Did your dick go in?" Alaric asked.

The man was in too much pain to respond.

"This will decide if you leave here in one piece," Alaric said coldly.

The man kept writhing on the ground.

Alaric watched him and said, "Forget it, it's not important."

With that, he gave a signal.

Two bodyguards stepped forward, easily restraining the man and dragging him out of the warehouse.

The ground was smeared with blood, looking gruesome.

No one reacted.

The man's screams suddenly stopped.

Cecilia didn't know where Alaric was taking him or if he would kill him.

She only knew this Alaric was beyond anything she understood.

Cecilia tried to control her emotions.

She tried not to be afraid, not to panic.

When she was being attacked, she wanted to kill the man and Rebecca. She thought if someone had given her a gun, she would have shot without hesitation.

So everything Alaric was doing now was just avenging her.

She should be grateful to him for that.

However, her body was still trembling.

The more she thought about it, the more she trembled.

She always thought the dark world was just like Dominic—sneaky and deceitful. Even if Dominic killed her, it was his personal cruelty, not like what Alaric was showing her now, an open and blatant display.

It was as if all the cruelty and violence were normal, that in this seemingly bright and peaceful world, there was a place so cruel and bloody!
