Chapter 499 Juliana's Embarrassment
Alaric glanced back at Cecilia.
Their eyes locked.
Alaric just shrugged, looking kind of helpless.
Honestly, he was just letting Emily have her way.
Cecilia figured Emily's attitude was mostly because the Whitaker Family spoiled her too much.
When Juliana heard what Emily said, she lost her cool.
No one had ever accused her of anything like this before!
She quickly tried to explain, "No, that's not true. Emily knocked it over by accident. I was just trying to help her, but I didn't get there in time. It's really not like she said, and I never said those things!"
"Did I say something wrong?" Emily looked at Juliana. "Should I not have repeated what you said earlier? I'm sorry, I just felt a bit upset and wanted to explain that I'm really not that kind of person."
"Emily, you're lying!" Juliana shot back, her face flushing with anger. "You're lying! You told me that Cecilia treats you badly and that I treat you better than she does. How can you slander me now?"
"What are you talking about?" Emily's eyes widened, looking at Juliana like she couldn't believe what she was hearing.
It seemed like she had no clue why Juliana would say such things.
"Cecilia treats me very well, just like Alaric does. We all like Cecilia. Otherwise, my parents wouldn't have let me stay at Cecilia's house while they traveled abroad," Emily explained. "Why would you say Cecilia treats me badly?"
Juliana was so shocked by Emily's words that she couldn't even respond.
She was super agitated but stayed silent.
Ophelia's face darkened. She yelled at Juliana, "I thought after seeing what happened to your dad, Andrew, and Isadora, you would know how to be a good person and live a good life. But I was wrong. You're still causing trouble and being so malicious! Juliana, I really misjudged you."
"No!" Juliana quickly grabbed Ophelia's hand. "No, I really didn't. I didn't spill soup on her; she's framing me. She said those things about Cecilia herself, not me. I'm not spreading rumors. Please believe me, Grandma."
"Get out of my way!" Ophelia pushed Juliana aside.
Her face showed no sign of believing Juliana.
Ophelia already had a bad impression of Juliana and didn't know Emily's true nature. From the surface, Emily looked pitiful and clearly the victim, so naturally, Ophelia wouldn't side with Juliana.
Juliana's tears welled up as she realized she had fallen into Emily's trap.
But right now, her priority was to regain Ophelia's trust. She couldn't lose Ophelia's support; she needed it to climb higher.
She knelt on the ground and admitted her mistake, "Grandma, I'm sorry. I won't dare to do it again."
Knowing she couldn't regain trust, she could only kneel and beg for forgiveness, admitting her fault.
"So it really was you! You shameless girl!" Ophelia's face grew even darker.
After Juliana admitted it, Ophelia wanted to hit her.
She used to let Juliana come over all the time, telling Theodore and Genevieve that Juliana had changed and would help keep the family together. But now, Juliana's constant troublemaking was making her look bad.
"Grandma," Juliana cried out over and over, her face soaked with tears, looking utterly miserable. "I won't do it again, I promise. Please forgive me this once. I was just jealous of how well Cecilia treats Emily. I wanted Cecilia to treat me that well too. I really want to be part of this family. I was wrong."
Juliana was bawling her eyes out.
Cecilia watched, feeling zero pity.
She just hadn't expected that Emily, that little troublemaker, could actually push Juliana to this point.
At this moment, Genevieve, who was always soft-hearted, couldn't bear to watch anymore.
She had noticed Juliana's behavior at home recently and tried to ease the tension. "The most important thing now is to check Emily's hand injury. Theodore, call the private doctor."
"Okay," Theodore replied.
Genevieve supported Emily. "I'll take you back to the hall."
Emily nodded obediently.
At that moment, still feeling shy, she reached out to hold Alaric's hand, and he didn't refuse.
In front of others, Alaric really showed Emily a lot of respect.
As they left, only Cecilia and Juliana remained.
Juliana was still kneeling on the ground, her eyes full of hatred.
Ophelia seemed determined to ignore her.
But that was because she was angry now.
In a few days, if Juliana apologized and said nice things, she might be forgiven.
In any case, Juliana had lost face today.
She looked up at Cecilia, who was looking at her with a mocking smile.
"You did this on purpose, didn't you?" Juliana said fiercely. "You deliberately had Emily set me up!"
Cecilia said sarcastically, "I don't have the power to make Emily do things for me."
"What do you mean?" Juliana's eyes narrowed.
"I mean, if even I can't handle her, what makes you think you can?" Cecilia said.
Juliana gritted her teeth, her fists clenched.
This was the first time she had been bullied to this extent.
Cecilia smirked, "But then again, if you didn't have impure intentions, you wouldn't end up like this. Juliana, don't you think you deserve this?"
Juliana was left speechless by Cecilia's sarcasm.
She tensed her body, trying to control herself.
She knew she couldn't go against Cecilia.
Right now, she was no match for Cecilia and even had to rely on her to survive.
"Juliana, live your life properly, and you might have a way out." Cecilia's eyes turned cold. "Otherwise, you'll die. I'm not just scaring you!"
With that, Cecilia turned to leave.
After taking a few steps, she turned back and said coldly, "Alaric is not someone you can dream of."
The chilling tone made Juliana shiver slightly!
But as she watched Cecilia's back, her desire grew stronger than her fear of being threatened.
If Cecilia could have Alaric, why couldn't she?
She had to have everything Cecilia had!
