Chapter 191 Trouble (2) Rebecca's Crazy Revenge
"Cecilia!" Alaric's urgent voice crackled through the phone.
He was shaking, clutching the phone tightly.
"Cecilia, answer me!" His voice was frantic.
Cassius stood next to him, watching.
What could have rattled Alaric so much? He was never this nervous.
Just as Cassius was about to speak, Alaric gripped the phone harder and said, "Something's happened to Cecilia. Check if there's been a major car accident between the Lockhart Group and my villa. Find the exact location and get any camera footage. Also, get a private jet ready to head back to Serenovia City, now!"
Cassius wanted to ask something but held back upon seeing Alaric's face. He nodded, pulled out his phone, and quickly made arrangements.
Alaric dialed another number.
"Alaric," the voice on the other end answered quickly.
"Has Rebecca left Los Angeles?" Alaric asked.
"I don't know," Jasper replied. "We broke up."
"Contact Rebecca. Call me if you reach her."
"What happened?" Jasper asked, surprised. He had never heard Alaric this anxious.
"I think Rebecca did something to Cecilia," Alaric said.
Jasper was stunned. Rebecca still chose the worst path.
"Okay, I'll find Rebecca right away," Jasper replied.
"Call me or Cassius if you get any news."
"Got it."
Alaric hung up abruptly.
Cassius returned with a serious look. "I've sent people to investigate the accident site and get all traffic footage from Serenovia City. Should we leave now?"
"Yes, now!" Alaric replied firmly.
Cassius swallowed his words. Alaric had to go back to save Cecilia, no matter what.
"The car's outside, and the jet's ready. We can take off as soon as we reach the airport. It'll take about two hours to get back to Serenovia City."
Anything could happen in two hours.
Alaric's face was grim. "You stay in Astralton City. I'll be out of communication on the plane. Direct the rescue efforts in Serenovia City. Once Cecilia is found, don't act rashly. Wait for me. If there's immediate danger, prioritize her safety."
Cassius nodded.
He watched Alaric walk out, thinking, 'If Cecilia's really hurt...'
He couldn't imagine what Alaric would become. More cold-blooded and ruthless?
The night was eerily quiet.
Cecilia opened her eyes to an unfamiliar place. She saw a tall, rundown house with an old electric lamp swaying from the ceiling, casting a faint yellow light.
Cecilia coughed involuntarily, the heavy dust choking her.
The cough pulled at something inside her, bringing tears to her eyes and a metallic taste of blood to her mouth.
She remembered she had been in a car accident.
Last time, Dominic had stabbed her to death, a memory still vivid. But when she woke up then, it was a new life. This was different. She felt the pain from the accident deeply.
She survived the severe car accident. Was it luck or someone's deliberate choice?
She struggled to sit up, feeling cold and wet. The place where she had been lying was soaked. In the dim light, she couldn't see clearly, but the smell was unmistakable—it was her blood.
She didn't know how badly she was hurt, just that she felt weak and dizzy, classic signs of severe blood loss.
She tried to stay calm. She didn't know if she could survive, but she didn't want to die. She had been given a second chance at life and couldn't die so easily.
Slowly, she stood up, her body weak and sore. She needed to get to a hospital. Even if her injuries were mostly superficial, untreated wounds could still be fatal.
She steadied herself and was about to move when she heard the distant iron gate creak open, the sound of rusty metal scraping against metal echoing loudly in the silent night.
Cecilia tried to control her panic and looked in that direction. When she saw Rebecca, she thought, 'This time, I'm probably doomed.'
"Did you hit your head?" Rebecca walked up with a victorious smile, looking at her coldly.
Cecilia bit her lip, trying to stay calm and using the pain to remind herself this wasn't a dream.
"You didn't leave?" Cecilia said, her voice so hoarse it startled her. Her throat must be injured, affecting her vocal cords.
"Sure," Rebecca laughed. Two very strong men followed behind her, their muscular arms intimidating.
Rebecca saw the look in Cecilia's eyes and laughed even more triumphantly. "If I left, I would have missed seeing you covered in blood. It would be such a pity not to see you in such a miserable state!"
Cecilia bit her lip hard, trying to stay calm and not panic. She needed to stall for time. She believed that even if Alaric was in Astralton City, once he knew she was in trouble, he definitely would come back to save her.
