Chapter 446 We Won't Get Divorced

Cecilia felt a little tug at her heart.

Back in the day, Dominic was all cold and full of empty promises. Now, Alaric? He was all about her, showering her with love and attention.

"Hey babe, it's late. Did ya miss me?" Alaric's playful voice came through the phone.

Cecilia swallowed, trying to keep her emotions in check. "Yeah."

Alaric sounded a bit taken aback.

Cecilia wasn't one to show her feelings unless she was really moved.

He chuckled, "I'll be back in ten days."

"Why?" Cecilia asked.

"Ovulation period."

Cecilia went quiet. What could she even say to that?

He laughed again, "Gotta work hard for our baby."

"Alaric," Cecilia called out.

"Yeah?"

"Dashiell and Seraphina got divorced."

Alaric didn't seem fazed, "Wasn't that bound to happen?"

"I was just thinking, will we end up like that too?"

"No," Alaric said firmly, almost sternly.

Cecilia bit her lip.

Seraphina's divorce hit her hard.

She always thought they wouldn't end up divorced.

But still, the past life events happened.

So, she always wondered what her rebirth could really change.

No matter what happened, would the final result still be the same?

In the quiet of the night, she seemed to think a lot.

"From the moment we got married, I never thought about divorce," Alaric said seriously.

Cecilia's eyes softened.

So when they talked about a fake marriage back then, he agreed right away.

Was he lying to her?

Damn!

Then all the serious terms and conditions she told him back then were really for nothing.

"Alaric, when did you start liking me?" Cecilia asked him seriously.

"Guess."

"I won't guess," Cecilia said sulkily.

"Then, I won't tell you."

"Alaric."

"Be good, you just need to know that I love you. As for when I started loving you, it doesn't matter."

Cecilia pouted and said, "Then when I asked you to marry me back then, you looked so reluctant. Were you pretending?"

Alaric didn't speak.

Obviously, he was admitting it.

"Alaric, when I asked you to marry me back then, what were you feeling?" Cecilia asked again.

She just suddenly wanted to know.

Back then, she approached Alaric with the purpose of finding a helper or even humiliating Dominic.

But what about Alaric?

Was he unable to suppress his inner joy?

Thinking of Alaric's disdainful and passive look back then, Cecilia got a bit angry.

He was good at hiding his feelings.

"My feelings..." Alaric seemed to pause and said, "After so many years, I could finally make love."

Cecilia was silent. Men in the world were all the same.

Alaric laughed again and changed the subject. "Don't overthink it. We're different from Seraphina and Dashiell. They were one-sided, and we are mutually in love. A relationship can't be maintained with only one side's effort, so don't overthink it. We won't separate in this lifetime."

Cecilia couldn't help but smile.

She was really comforted by Alaric and said seriously, "If you don't leave me, I won't give up on you."

After saying that, Cecilia hung up the phone.

She rarely said such mushy stuff, so it made her feel super shy.

She lay on the bed, thinking about Alaric.

In this new life, had she really found happiness?

It still felt like it was close yet far away.

The next day, Seraphina dragged herself out of bed.

Her eyes were dead tired.

She didn't know how long she tossed and turned before finally crashing last night.

Anyway, when the alarm blared today, she felt like total crap.

In the end, she got up purely on willpower.

The whole routine of washing up, putting on makeup, and getting dressed made her want to collapse.

She almost gave up a bunch of times and just wanted to crawl back into bed.

But thinking about being broke, she forced herself to keep going.

Then she groggily stumbled out the door.

Luckily, Atticus wasn't too hard on her.

He got her a personal driver.

Probably worried she wouldn't dare to drive again or might get into another accident.

Honestly, Atticus was really good to her.

But she thought, 'Just let things take their course.'

Some mental blocks are just tough to shake off.

Sitting in the car, Sebastian called her.

Seraphina answered, "Hey, Sebastian."

"Are you up?" Sebastian asked.

"Yeah, I'm on my way." Seraphina looked out the window. "I'm so tired."

"You'll get used to it."

She knew she never would.

"By the way, did you have breakfast?" Sebastian asked.

"No time for that," Seraphina grumbled.

"That's bad for your stomach. I got your favorite beef sandwich. I'll bring it to your office."

"You're the best!" Seraphina said, feeling grateful.

She really had no appetite when she first woke up.

But now, she was starting to feel a bit hungry.

And she really loved beef sandwiches. Just hearing about it made her mouth water.

She even felt a bit more motivated to go to work.

"See you soon," Sebastian said cheerfully.

"Okay."

When Seraphina got to Everhart Bank and walked to her office, Sebastian was already waiting at the door.

Sebastian was known for his dedication at the company.

He was always the first to arrive and the last to leave.

Seraphina really thought the Everhart family should treat him better.

Otherwise, it would be unfair to Sebastian's dedication to the Everhart Bank.

"Here you go," Sebastian handed the sandwich to Seraphina, "Eat it while it's hot."

"Okay." Seraphina took it.

"And the milk, make sure to drink it all."

"Okay."

"Then I'll get to work." Sebastian patted Seraphina's head.

They didn't hide their closeness at the company.

Seraphina's position wasn't high, so her office was just a small one next to the main office. There were lots of people coming and going, and many saw their closeness but pretended not to notice, fearing they might get caught in the drama.

But they still whispered among themselves, 'Is Seraphina cheating so openly?'

After all, no one knew about Seraphina and Dashiell's divorce.

They even felt bad for Dashiell, whom they didn't even know.

It was said that Seraphina's husband loved her more than life itself.
