Chapter 153 Alaric, stay away from me

Stalemate in the room.

Cecilia pressed her lips together.

"Alaric, I told you last night, I need time. I can't accept your love right now," she said.

Alaric just stared at her.

Cecilia couldn't read his emotions. He hid them so well it scared her.

She wasn't sure if she'd upset him with what she said.

She felt uneasy.

Last night, Alaric said he'd wait for her.

But she couldn't promise his wait would be worth it.

She wished he wouldn't change for her.

She regretted stopping the intimacy between Alaric and Rebecca.

She regretted trying to make amends, but her words seemed to hurt him.

She'd never been so conflicted about a man before.

Even when she loved Dominic deeply, she gave herself to him wholeheartedly. She didn't have so many doubts. But with Alaric, she felt lost, unsure of how to act.

She could only be honest. "I can't easily trust someone. My past makes me cautious with everyone who gets close."

Yes.

Because she didn't dare to trust, she couldn't easily accept.

"Alaric, whether you're sincere or I'm punishing you for another man's mistakes, I won't let anyone into my heart again. So, to be fair, I hope you can stay away from me." Cecilia said with difficulty, feeling a heavy weight on her chest.

"How far do you want me to stay away?" Alaric asked.

Cecilia was stunned.

"No sex? No kissing? No holding hands? Or if it's not necessary, we don't even see each other?" Alaric asked calmly.

Cecilia bit her lip.

"Cecilia, I gave you time to get to know me, not to drift further away," Alaric said earnestly.

"I don't believe in love at first sight," Cecilia said bluntly.

She didn't believe two unrelated people could suddenly fall in love.

"That's why I said, give you time to believe," Alaric said firmly.

At that moment, Cecilia realized something.

'Alaric's trying to convince her he does love her at first sight.'

'But when did this happen?'

When they crashed on Lumina Mountain, did he fall in love with her at first sight?

But back then, she saw no emotion in Alaric.

He showed no trace of feeling.

In her memory, he was even impatient with her.

So, what was Alaric hiding?

How many secrets were behind his perfect face?

And a man like that.

How could she trust him completely?

She admitted, she was selfish.

But she had no choice.

She couldn't afford to fail.

God wouldn't give her another chance!

The tense silence broke when the ward door opened.

Arabella rushed in, looking worried. "Alaric, how could you be so careless and get into such a big car accident? If Cassius hadn't told Jasper this morning, I wouldn't have known you were hurt."

Cecilia was still calming herself down.

"I'm fine," Alaric said, his voice steady.

"How can you be fine? If you were, you wouldn't be in the hospital."

"The doctor said I can be discharged."

"Really?" Arabella seemed skeptical.

Caspian and Jasper, who came with Arabella, chimed in, "Don't try to tough it out."

"The doctor said he's really fine. He just needs to rest at home," Cecilia quickly added.

Hearing this, Caspian believed her. "If you need to recuperate, go home. There are plenty of people to help you."

"Not necessary, George can take care of me," Alaric refused.

"Is it so hard to come home?" Caspian sighed.

Cecilia felt the Whitaker family spoiled Alaric. They treated him with respect.

"Did you bring my clothes?" Alaric asked, changing the subject.

He had texted Cassius to bring clothes for him and Cecilia. Since Cassius didn't come, he must have asked his parents to bring them.

"Cassius said he had something to do today and couldn't come, so he asked Jasper to bring the clothes," Arabella said. "Otherwise, we wouldn't have known about your accident."

Jasper handed over a bag. "I grabbed two sets of clothes from your room."

"Thank you," Cecilia said, taking the bag.

"You're welcome," Jasper smiled. "Let's wait outside."

Jasper, Arabella, and Caspian left the room.

Cecilia watched them go, thinking Jasper seemed like a good match for Rebecca.

She turned back and saw Augustus on the balcony.

Augustus noticed her gaze and walked in.

"Please step out for a moment while we change clothes," Cecilia said.

"Okay."

"Augustus," Alaric called.

"Yes, Mr. Whitaker."

"Help me change my clothes," Alaric ordered.

Cecilia looked at him.

Alaric's expression was unchanged, looking normal.

Cecilia pursed her lips, pretending not to notice his anger.

She took her clothes and walked into the bathroom.

Behind her, Alaric watched her go, feeling she didn't care about him at all.
