Chapter 500 Alaric is Healthy
When Cecilia got back to the hall, Alaric was patching up Emily's wound.
It didn't look too bad, so Alaric didn't bother calling the family doctor.
Seeing Cecilia, he said, "Hey, didn't we have that doctor's appointment this afternoon to go over our check-up results? It's about time. Let's head back early."
Cecilia nodded, knowing Alaric didn't want Emily causing any more trouble here.
She quickly told the elders, "Grandma, Dad, Mom, Alaric and I are heading back now. We had a physical this morning, and the doctor's coming this afternoon."
"Okay," Genevieve agreed quickly, also wanting to avoid more trouble.
Even though she didn't know Emily well, she knew Emily was a handful.
"Drive safe, and come visit more often," Ophelia advised.
After experiencing the events with Vincent's family, Ophelia seemed like a different person. She had been tough on Juliana just now, but she was handling things better, not as biased and gossipy.
"Sure," Cecilia agreed.
"And Emily, take care of that burn. If it gets worse, see a doctor, okay?" Genevieve added.
"I will," Emily replied obediently.
They were then sent off to the car.
Augustus drove them back.
The ride was pretty quiet until Emily spoke up softly, "Cecilia, I'm sorry for making things awkward today. I didn't mean to."
"It's fine," Cecilia smiled, looking very forgiving.
Emily glanced at Cecilia.
Cecilia continued, "I don't like Juliana. I'm actually glad you put her in her place. You have no idea how satisfying it was to see her so upset today. She's been bullying me for years, and you finally gave me some relief."
She sounded genuinely happy.
Emily's face darkened. She hadn't done it for Cecilia at all. If she had known Cecilia would be this happy, she wouldn't have done it.
She bit her lip and forced a smile, saying, "As long as you don't mind. I was really worried you'd think I embarrassed you."
"How could you embarrass me? I'm thrilled. Next time, come home with me. I don't really like my grandma either; she used to bully me a lot. Maybe you could think of a way to annoy her too?" Cecilia said earnestly.
Emily's face turned pale. Cecilia's seemingly casual words were clearly mocking her, implying she was just a bully.
Emily didn't want to talk to Cecilia anymore. If they continued, her image in front of Alaric would be tarnished by Cecilia.
She turned to Augustus and said, "I suddenly feel a bit carsick. How much longer until we get home?"
"About ten minutes," Augustus quickly replied. "Ms. Whitaker, I'll try to drive more smoothly."
"Thank you." Emily smiled slightly.
After that, she leaned back in her seat, looking very uncomfortable. It was obvious she didn't want to talk to Cecilia anymore.
Cecilia smiled triumphantly. The best way to deal with hypocrites was to answer blows with blows.
When they got home, Emily said she felt unwell and went straight to her room.
Alaric didn't say much. He was just putting up with Emily.
He pulled Cecilia to sit on the couch.
George was out back trimming the trees, and the house was pretty empty.
Cecilia couldn't help but say, "You're being pretty nice to Emily."
Alaric frowned. "Are you jealous?"
"Not at all!" Cecilia denied. "I'm just worried she'll take advantage."
"You're definitely jealous," Alaric chuckled.
"I said I'm not." Cecilia glared at him.
Alaric leaned in and kissed her.
Cecilia tried to push him away, but he held her tighter.
They ended up tussling and lying on the couch.
Alaric pressed her down hard.
Suddenly, a cough echoed through the hall.
Cecilia quickly pushed Alaric off.
George, looking flustered, stood there, not daring to look directly at them. "Mr. Whitaker, Mrs. Whitaker, I didn't mean to interrupt, but the doctor is here with Mr. Whitaker's examination report."
They then noticed the doctor standing behind George, looking just as embarrassed.
Cecilia felt mortified, like her reputation was being ruined by Alaric.
"From a medical perspective, this is a very normal mating behavior. It not only promotes marital affection but also helps in procreation," the doctor said, trying to lighten the mood.
Cecilia's face turned bright red. It would have been better if he hadn't mentioned it; now she felt utterly ashamed and wanted to disappear.
The doctor stopped joking and tried to act professionally as he walked over. "This is Mr. Whitaker's examination report. The results..."
Cecilia felt nervous and grabbed Alaric's hand.
Alaric held her hand tightly, clearly more nervous than she was. His palms were sweaty.
"Everything is normal," the doctor said straightforwardly.
Cecilia breathed a sigh of relief. She couldn't understand why people always paused before delivering the crucial information! They completely disregarded the listener's feelings.
"As expected," Alaric said calmly, as if he couldn't possibly have any issues!
Cecilia didn't want to call him out on it.
"And as for why Mrs. Whitaker haven't conceived yet, here are some professional opinions from our hospital. First, Mrs. Whitaker can undergo a physical examination. If Mrs. Whitaker has no issues, it means both parties are healthy. If that's the case, then the second reason could be that you are under too much stress. Conceiving requires a lot of cooperation from both sides. Sometimes, the more anxious you are, the more likely you are to fail. Studies show that a more relaxed and comfortable environment can increase the success rate of conception by twenty percent. So, if possible, you should consider taking a vacation to relax. Our hospital has many cases where babies were conceived during vacations. While it may not be scientifically proven, probability often leads to the most direct results." The doctor smiled. "In short, relax, reduce stress, and good luck to you both!"
