Chapter 526 Setting the Trap (2) Cecilia Forces Dominic
Cecilia and Dominic's long-running beef was the talk of Serenovia City and even the whole Yakurosean Empire.
Everyone thought they couldn't stand each other, so how on earth did Cecilia end up at Dominic's wedding?
It was just mind-blowing.
The media was buzzing with excitement.
Everyone was hyped, thinking they were about to break some major news.
Cecilia faced the reporters with ease, not dodging their questions. Instead, she stood in front of the security and gracefully took on their questions.
"Ms. Lockhart, are you here for Mr. Kingsley's wedding?" one reporter asked eagerly.
"Who else?" Cecilia shot back.
"With all the bad blood between you two, would Mr. Kingsley really invite you to his wedding?" the reporter asked, stunned.
Cecilia smiled. "It's just business rivalry, not as dramatic as everyone thinks. Off the clock, we're not that bad. Plus, as one of the big four families, we've always been tight-knit. It's not weird for the Kingsley Family to invite other families to the wedding."
"But I heard the Kingsley Family didn't invite the Whitaker Family or the Lockhart Family, except for the Everhart Family," the reporter pressed.
"The Whitaker Family wasn't invited because Alaric is still in custody, and the Kingsley Family has their reasons, which I think everyone gets. The Whitaker Family gets it too, especially since Dominic is marrying Lyra from a noble family, so they need to avoid any drama," Cecilia explained smoothly. "As for our family, the Kingsley Family did invite us, but my parents are unwell, so I'm here to represent them."
"Really?" The reporter seemed doubtful.
"Dominic is actually more generous than you think. Putting aside my relationship with Alaric, Dominic and I grew up together. We couldn't get married back then, but now it seems like it was just fate. But that's all in the past, and we've both found our own paths. The past is just smoke and mirrors now," Cecilia kept praising Dominic.
"Mr. Kingsley is indeed very magnanimous," the reporter couldn't help but sigh.
It was surprising that after all the trouble Cecilia had caused him, he could still let bygones be bygones.
Such a person was destined for greatness!
"If there are no other questions, I'll head in," Cecilia said, ready to leave.
"Ms. Lockhart, wait," a reporter called out loudly.
Cecilia stopped.
"Can you share any updates on your husband Alaric's detention for his alleged crimes?" the reporter quickly asked.
Cecilia had anticipated the reporters' questions and was well-prepared.
"Alaric's case is quite complex, and the police are still digging into it. I don't know the exact court date, and the police haven't given me a clear answer. As for whether Alaric is truly guilty?" Cecilia paused deliberately, looking emotional.
All the reporters leaned in, eager for some insider scoop from Cecilia.
"I believe Alaric is innocent," Cecilia said firmly.
"But from the evidence that's come out so far, Alaric's guilt seems pretty clear," the reporter pushed.
"Until the court says Alaric's guilty, no one can say he is. So let's not jump to conclusions," Cecilia's tone got a bit heavier.
The reporter realized they wouldn't get more info and quickly switched gears. "Ms. Lockhart, any thoughts on Mr. Kingsley's wedding? You and Mr. Kingsley were once a couple, after all."
"I've said that's in the past. We both have our own lives now. Besides wishing them well, I have nothing else to say," Cecilia replied.
"Ms. Lockhart, do you ever regret it? No matter what happened between you two, Mr. Kingsley seems to be doing better than Alaric now. And he's found such a perfect wife. Aren't you a bit jealous?" The reporter's questions got sharper.
There were always a few bold media folks who liked to stir the pot.
Cecilia stayed calm and smiled. "I'm genuinely happy for Dominic finding his happiness. I have no regrets and no jealousy. In fact, I'm very happy for him. During our breakup, it took Dominic a long time to move on. Seeing him happy now, I'm relieved and finally at peace."
"Ms. Lockhart, don't you feel a bit disappointed? You said Mr. Kingsley took a long time to move on after losing you. Now that he's in love with someone else, as a woman, don't you feel a bit of vanity?"
"No," Cecilia answered directly. "If I can fall in love with another man, why can't Dominic fall in love with another woman? And let me say again, I'm here today just to give my blessings."
"Ms. Lockhart..."
"Excuse me." Cecilia slightly bowed, showing her politeness. "It's getting late, I need to go in. Thank you."
With that, Cecilia walked straight into the hotel entrance.
Inside was a stunning hall, with a long red carpet in the center, surrounded by flowers, making it look like a dream.
Cecilia walked confidently and gracefully down the red carpet.
Halfway down, Cecilia smiled slightly.
She saw Dominic in a black suit, clearly dressed up for the wedding, looking more spirited and slightly better in temperament than usual.
He strode towards Cecilia, leading her off the red carpet and into a side passage.
"Are you crazy?" Dominic said, trying to keep his voice low.
Facing Dominic's anger, Cecilia stayed calm.
It seemed he had just heard about her arrival and came out to stop her immediately.
She spoke slowly, "Just here to congratulate you."
"Cecilia, what are you up to?" Dominic gripped Cecilia's arm tightly, clearly increasing the pressure, causing Cecilia to frown.
Ignoring the pain in her arm, Cecilia said directly, "I just wanted to see what your so-called wonderful Lyra looks like."
"You think I'll let you in?" Dominic asked harshly.
"It doesn't matter if you don't let me in. I'll just leave," Cecilia said nonchalantly. "But I just told the reporters that we've reconciled and are friends. If you kick me out now, what will the media think of you? Won't they think you're too petty?"
