Chapter 501 I Am Yours
As soon as the doctor left, Cecilia and Alaric both let out a secret sigh of relief.
They plopped down on the living room couch, exchanged glances, and then, out of nowhere, started laughing.
They couldn't tell if they were laughing at their earlier unnecessary panic or just feeling lucky to dodge trouble this time.
Either way, their happiness together was crystal clear.
Alaric broke the silence, "I wasn't too nice to Emily."
"Huh?" Cecilia was caught off guard.
He switched topics so fast. She thought he'd be bragging about his clean bill of health.
"Weren't you just jealous of how nice I was to Emily?" Alaric said.
Cecilia replied, "Emily's your sister. Of course, you're nice to her."
"It's also because of you," Alaric said.
Cecilia frowned, wondering why she was getting dragged into this again.
"Didn't you find her behavior today annoying?" Alaric raised an eyebrow.
Cecilia was stunned.
So Alaric had seen through her thoughts, deliberately being nice to Emily to make Juliana misunderstand, and then letting Emily deal with Juliana, so she could benefit from it?
What could Alaric not see through? It was terrifying!
Cecilia felt a bit worried. If she ever changed her mind, he would definitely notice right away!
"Stop overthinking!" Alaric, though not knowing exactly what Cecilia was thinking, could tell from her expression that it wasn't anything good.
Cecilia chuckled.
Then she immediately said seriously, "So you can tell that Juliana likes you?"
"My intuition is strong," Alaric said matter-of-factly.
"Men have intuition too?" Cecilia asked.
"In matters of love, it's hard for a woman not to like me. Except..." Alaric looked at Cecilia.
Cecilia felt a chill under Alaric's gaze, sensing he was implying something.
"Anyway, I have a strong attraction to the opposite sex."
Was he bragging?
"But don't worry, honey." Alaric held Cecilia's small hand tightly in his palm. "I'm yours."
Cecilia was speechless, and her face turned a bit red.
Every time Alaric spoke sweetly, her heart would inexplicably race, and her face would blushed.
She pretended to be calm. "I'm tired. I want to go to the room and sleep for a bit."
"Okay, I just need to go out and handle something."
"Where are you going?" Cecilia looked at him. "The State Office?"
"No, I need to see Cassius. It's more convenient to go to his place since he can't go out right now," Alaric said.
"Alright," Cecilia responded.
She didn't have much emotion about it.
She always felt that Alaric and Cassius had a life-and-death bond and some secrets that outsiders couldn't know.
"I'll be back soon," Alaric said respectfully.
"What?" Cecilia's bright eyes looked at him.
Alaric felt an itch in his heart.
His voice became a bit hoarse and he said, "We'll go on a trip abroad."
Cecilia couldn't help but laugh.
So Alaric had listened to the doctor's advice.
Cecilia didn't refuse.
When they got married, she thought it was a fake marriage, so a honeymoon trip wasn't planned. This could make up for that regret.
She nodded. "Okay. I'll wait for you."
"Alright," Alaric agreed immediately.
Cecilia got up and went upstairs first.
Alaric also walked out of the living room.
Cecilia passed by Emily's room and thought for a moment before knocking on the door.
The door creaked open.
Emily, who had been all smiles, saw Cecilia and her face immediately soured. "Oh, it's you," she said, not bothering to hide her annoyance.
"Expecting Alaric, were you?" Cecilia shot back.
"What are you bragging about, Cecilia?"
Cecilia leaned in, her voice icy, "Just letting you know, it's twisted to have a thing for your brother."
Emily shrugged it off, sneering, "Didn't you know I've been on meds since I was a kid?"
Cecilia was momentarily speechless.
"So, all those years of meds and no improvement," Cecilia regained her composure. "Guess you're a lost cause."
Emily glared daggers at her.
Cecilia decided to drop it. Better to keep their distance.
The weekend with Alaric flew by.
Cecilia, who never used to care much for weekends, now wished they could last forever, just because Alaric was around.
By Wednesday, Alaric had to head to Harborvale.
Even though it was just for a couple of weeks, she already missed him.
Monday morning, they went their separate ways to work.
Cecilia sat in her office, feeling a bit down.
Rose noticed and couldn't help but chuckle to herself.
"No work today?" Cecilia raised an eyebrow.
"Actually, Ms. Lockhart, the sales data from the international e-commerce platform will be released today. You mentioned having a project team meeting to analyze it and improve our marketing strategies once the data is out. It should be ready around 10 AM," Rose replied.
"Got it," Cecilia nodded.
"At 3 PM, there's a company decision-making meeting, which will last about an hour and a half. And at 5:30 PM, there's a half-hour senior management planning summary meeting," Rose listed off.
"Do you still want your warm milk?" Rose asked.
"Yes, please."
"Okay."
With that, Rose left.
Cecilia stretched, trying to shake off her lethargy.
She opened her computer and started going through the weekend's approval documents.
Suddenly, her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and answered, "Hello, Dashiell."
"I heard Alaric wasn't feeling well?" Dashiell asked.
Since when was Dashiell so nosy?
"I didn't want to interrupt your lovely weekend, so I waited until Monday to ask. You're at work, right? Not with Alaric?" Dashiell continued.
Cecilia didn't bother to call him out.
He just didn't have the guts to ask when Alaric was around.
Was Alaric really that intimidating?
She always thought he was pretty good to Cassius and Dashiell.
"It was nothing. We just overreacted," Cecilia explained.
"Got it." Dashiell laughed. "I didn't think Alaric would have fertility issues. Cassius was just being dramatic."
Cassius, that gossip.
"I was just checking in. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Dashiell chuckled to himself.
So, he should only take about ten percent of what Cassius said seriously.
He had actually been worried for a moment, debating whether to tell Magnolia.
Dashiell buried himself back in work.
There was a knock on his office door.
"Come in," Dashiell called out.
He expected his secretary.
But when he looked up, he saw Seraphina standing there.
His eyes flickered.
That hint of impatience in his eyes was clear to Seraphina.
