Chapter 129 Cecilia's Dominance Drives Charles Crazy

"Just my personal guess, but even if the chairman doesn't fire you, you should quit out of sheer embarrassment! You've done something so humiliating that anyone would be too ashamed to show their face. Mr. Wolf, someone as esteemed as you shouldn't be an exception, right?" Cecilia sneered.

Charles was nearly breathless from Cecilia's words.

He'd faced setbacks before, and he knew the worst thing he could do now was fall into Cecilia's trap and give her what she wanted.

He realized Cecilia just wanted him fired!

If he got dismissed, the Lockhart Group would have no one as powerful as him to stand against Theodore, not even Vincent.

Vincent was all talk, no action.

Understanding this, Charles felt a chill run down his spine.

He never imagined Cecilia could scheme so deeply, pushing him step by step into this mess.

He gritted his teeth, suppressing his anger, and said, "Yes, this has brought shame to the Lockhart Group, and I should take responsibility. But running away is the worst way to do that; facing it head-on is the best. In front of everyone, I swear to God, I, Charles, will handle my issues properly and never make the same mistake again!"

Cecilia wanted to laugh at his words.

Did men naturally deserve to be superior?

When men cheated, it was just a mistake all men made.

Even a scoundrel could be considered a good man if he reformed.

When women cheated, they were considered despicable and disgusting and should be shunned. Women couldn't even think about defending themselves.

Of course, Cecilia didn't want to discuss gender issues with Charles right now; it was a waste of time.

She said, "Mr. Wolf, your private life is a mess, and you should change that. I believe you'll do what you say. But, Mr. Wolf, not everything can be fixed with regret and change. For example..."

Charles glared at Cecilia.

She really unsettled him.

He always felt she would cause a lot of trouble, none of it in his favor!

"For example, things that involve breaking the law," Cecilia said.

"What law did I break?" Charles snapped, his barely stabilized emotions boiling over again.

"Abuse of power, seeking personal gain, causing financial losses to the Lockhart Group," Cecilia said, "These are clearly stipulated in the Yakurosean Empire's law."

Charles shouted, "Don't frame me, Cecilia! When did I ever do those things you mentioned?"

"Using your authority to alter Roy's performance scores, seeking personal gain for Roy, causing the Lockhart Group to lose over $200,000!" Cecilia said with full authority. "Isn't that what you did?"

Charles yelled, "I said I didn't! That can only be my management oversight. What evidence do you have to prove it was me? You have no evidence, so how can you..."

"I can call the cops!" Cecilia said, enunciating each word.

Charles was instantly stunned.

"The two performance score documents I have can serve as evidence. Your shady relationship with Roy can serve as the motive. As for witnesses... once the police get involved, the truth will come out quickly!"

"Cecilia, you!" Charles was clearly losing his cool.

If Cecilia really called the police, he might not end up in jail, but he'd definitely have a criminal record!

Thinking of this, Charles started to feel desperate.

Cecilia asked, "Mr. Wolf, should I call the police, or will you admit everything yourself?"

Charles's face was tense, veins bulging.

How did he let Cecilia scheme him into this corner?

He had planned to embarrass Cecilia, but now he had trapped himself.

He glared at Cecilia, unable to say a word.

"Time's ticking. We've already wasted half the morning because of Roy's suicide attempt, which is quite a waste of resources. I'll give you three seconds to decide. If you don't make a choice, I'll assume you want me to call the police," Cecilia said calmly, "Three, two, one."

Charles was trembling with anger but stayed silent.

Cecilia showed no emotion and calmly instructed, "Rose, call the police."

"Yes." Rose lowered her head and pressed the emergency button.

"I admit it!" Charles suddenly shouted.

Cecilia gave Rose a look.

Rose quickly put down the phone.

"I admit it, I did it! I altered Roy's performance scores to favor Wendy, allowing him to go from mediocre to excellent every month! This let him slack off at work and still get a good salary," Charles admitted.

Admitting it was still extremely humiliating for him.

"It's just $10,000 a month. I don't quite understand, Mr. Wolf, why you would do something you knew was illegal. $10,000 shouldn't be much for you; you could have just covered it yourself," Cecilia was still a bit surprised.

"I just said, my salary goes to my wife, and I don't have extra money. The bonuses I advanced were all spent on Wendy, and I have no liquid funds each month. So, I thought of this once-and-for-all method. Another benefit is that the higher the salary, the more benefits the Lockhart Group provides to employees. An extra $10,000 in salary is much more beneficial than me giving Roy $10,000 directly. I'm a businessman. I naturally know how to get the highest return," Charles, now completely deflated, explained everything.

Cecilia said, "So, to get more benefits for Roy, you abused your power and altered his performance scores every month."

"Yes." Charles nodded.

"Then..." Cecilia's face turned cold as she asked, "Did you also instruct Roy to use a suicide attempt to threaten me today?"

Charles stared straight at Cecilia. He was already in such a miserable state; what more did she want from him?

"Mr. Wolf, you don't admit it?" Cecilia reminded him. "If I remember correctly, malicious extortion and threatening others to harm their interests is also illegal!"
