Chapter 697 Chaotic Situation (2) Shopping

After Alaric left the study, he was taken to a luxurious courtyard at The Monroe Mansion.

He stood in the courtyard, waiting for Juniper.

Juniper took some time to dress up and came out, "Sorry to keep you waiting."

"I just got here," Alaric smiled.

In fact, Juniper knew exactly when he had arrived.

She also knew that Alaric might not be sincere with her.

Yet, she still felt a bit warm because of Alaric's gentlemanly gesture.

She said, "Let's go."

Alaric followed Juniper, slightly behind her.

He appeared somewhat respectful.

Juniper didn't really like Alaric being too respectful to her, but she also felt that there wouldn't be much interaction between them.

Although she didn't know exactly what Tomas and Alfonso were planning, she knew that Alaric was just a puppet of the Monroe family.

If she really invested her feelings, it would be a losing proposition.

They got into the car.

Bodyguards were seated in the car.

"How much longer until we get there?" After a while, Juniper suddenly asked.

"Ms. Monroe, about ten more minutes."

"Hurry up," Juniper covered her mouth, "I'm feeling a bit carsick."

"Yes, ma'am," the driver responded respectfully.

The car sped up a bit.

With the increased speed, the ride became a bit bumpy.

Juniper felt even more uncomfortable.

"Stop for a moment," Alaric called to the driver.

The driver quickly glanced at Juniper through the rearview mirror.

Juniper, feeling nauseous, quickly said, "Stop the car."

The driver promptly pulled over to the side of the street.

"Ms. Monroe, wait here for a moment," Alaric said as he opened the car door.

Before Juniper could respond, she saw Alaric leave.

Not long after, he left.

Alaric returned with a few oranges.

He got back into the car, peeled an orange, and handed the peel to Juniper, "Hold this under your nose; it will make you feel better."

Juniper was skeptical.

But she took the orange peel and deeply inhaled its scent.

The fragrance of the orange peel indeed made her stomach feel less uncomfortable.

"Drive," Alaric told the driver, "but keep it steady and don't go too fast."

"Yes, sir."

The car started again, moving smoothly.

Alaric explained, "When you're carsick, speeding and shaking make it worse. Going slower helps."

Juniper nodded.

She was a bit touched by Alaric.

She said, "I didn't used to get carsick. Maybe I ate something too greasy this morning."

Alaric smiled, "Feeling better now?"

"Much better."

"Next time you take a car ride, have a servant prepare an orange peel for you, just in case."

"Okay," Juniper agreed.

She turned to look out the window, feeling a bit emotional.

If Alaric knew that the Monroe family was using him, would he still treat her this way?

The car arrived at the mall.

Alaric and Juniper walked into the luxury custom dress section.

"My dad asked me to dress you up. You can choose any outfit you like. I'll pay," Juniper said generously.

"Thank you," Alaric replied. "Ms. Monroe, will you be attending the banquet tonight?"

"I won't," Juniper shook her head, "My dad doesn't involve me in too many things; it's mostly Alfonso and Lyra helping him."

"Okay."

"Do you think I'm useless?" Juniper suddenly asked.

"No," Alaric replied, "Mr. Monroe just wants to protect you. It's not about your capability."

"My dad really spoils me," Juniper said proudly.

Alaric just gave a perfunctory smile.

He pointed to a very plain black suit, "How about this one?"

"It's too plain," Juniper said not satisfied.

"It suits my identity better," Alaric explained.

Juniper's eyes tightened, clearly a bit unhappy, "Whatever you want."

Alaric didn't mind Juniper's feelings and asked the staff to get the suit for him.

He walked into the fitting room, his face darkening.

He remembered the time he and Cecilia picked out outfits together.

Cassius's words also echoed in his mind.

If he couldn't rescue Cecilia, would he really kill Gideon?

It wasn't that he didn't want to tell Cassius; he genuinely didn't know.

He thought that until it came to that point, he couldn't make any choice.

Alaric changed into the suit, completely masking his emotions.

He walked out.

Juniper, initially uninterested, was sitting in the VIP lounge reading a fashion magazine. When she sensed Alaric coming out, she casually glanced up.

She couldn't take her eyes off him.

Alaric looked incredibly handsome.

How could such a plain suit look so dazzling on him?

Was it that she underestimated the suit, or underestimated Alaric?

Juniper's expression changed slightly.

"Does it look good?" Alaric asked.

Juniper snapped back to reality, her face a bit red.

She had just been a little attracted to Alaric.

"It's okay," she said.

"Then is this one alright?"

"Sure," Juniper acted indifferent.

Alaric turned to pay.

"I'll pay," Juniper stood up.

"No need," Alaric refused, "It's not expensive."

Seeing Alaric's determination, Juniper mumbled, "You don't lack money anyway. You have money, and so does Cecilia."

Mentioning Cecilia made Juniper feel a bit sad for some reason.

Alaric didn't respond.

After paying, he said, "Let's go."

"I want to buy a bag over there," Juniper said.

"Okay," Alaric nodded.

Juniper walked ahead.

Alaric followed behind.

Juniper picked out a limited edition bag. "Is this nice?"

She asked Alaric.

Alaric nodded, "It's nice."

"How about this one?"

"Nice."

"And this one?"

"Nice."

"Alaric, are you just brushing me off?" Juniper was a bit angry.

Alaric looked at Juniper, unsure how to respond.

"Is this how you shop with Cecilia?" Juniper asked.

She just inexplicably wanted to compare herself to Cecilia.

Alaric suddenly realized he had never properly gone shopping with Cecilia.

It seemed like he and Cecilia were always apart more than they were together.

Whenever they went shopping, it was always for attending banquets.

He had never truly accompanied Cecilia on a shopping trip.

"Alaric," Juniper was a bit angry.

Alaric said, "I've never gone shopping with her."

Juniper paused.

Alaric said, "I really don't know much about women's bags, but I think any one you choose will look great on you."

Juniper's mood instantly improved.

She always felt that Alaric didn't know how to talk, but every time he spoke, his words were exceptionally pleasing.

It's a pity she didn't meet Alaric sooner.

That day, Alaric accompanied Juniper shopping for almost the entire day.

It wasn't until 5:30 PM that Juniper reluctantly left.

As soon as they returned to The Monroe Mansion, Alaric got into Tomas's car!

This time, he was heading to the battlefield!
