Chapter 654 Heartache
Seraphina felt her whole body tense up. All she could sense was Dashiell's strong breath, mixed with the smell of alcohol.
Dashiell in this state made her a bit scared, but she didn't push him away.
She stared wide-eyed at Dashiell's face up close.
She always knew he had great skin—the kind that girls would envy.
At such a close distance, Dashiell's face really didn't have a single visible pore, but he had long, curled eyelashes.
Seraphina's heart was racing.
Rationally, she knew she should push Dashiell away.
They couldn't be like this.
But her body instinctively accepted Dashiell's kiss.
Seraphina even took the initiative to open her mouth, wanting a deeper kiss.
But just as her tongue reached out.
Dashiell let go of her.
Dashiell's seemingly wild kiss didn't go any further; it felt more like a venting kiss—a brief touch of lips—before he disdainfully pulled away.
Seraphina looked at Dashiell in confusion.
Seraphina just craved sex.
With Dashiell, it seemed she couldn't resist the physical urge.
She was probably going crazy.
Seraphina's eyes were puffy and red, and her heart was in turmoil.
She had so much to say, yet the words wouldn't come.
All she could hear was Dashiell's cold voice. Even after their kiss, things felt unchanged. He said, "Seraphina, I'm just an intruder!"
After saying that, he pushed Seraphina away.
Seraphina had been leaning against the car, and because of his brute force, she took several steps back.
The next second, she saw Dashiell get into the car without looking back and drive away.
Seraphina pressed her lips tightly together.
Her heart really hurt!
Her eyes filled with tears, but she tried to keep a smile on her face.
After all, she chose this path herself.
She didn't want to cry in such an ungraceful way.
Seraphina turned and walked back, each step heavy on her heart.
In the shadows, she caught sight of Sebastian.
She had no idea how long he had been there or what he might have witnessed.
At that moment, she felt utterly speechless.
She wondered if Dashiell's sudden kiss was because he noticed Sebastian was there and deliberately wanted to provoke him. Otherwise, there was no way to explain why Dashiell suddenly lost control.
To say he lost control would be an exaggeration; he barely lost it at all.
She had stuck out her tongue, but he didn't react in the slightest.
Seraphina's throat tightened slightly.
She forced herself to swallow her tears.
She walked back to Sebastian's side and asked, "Were you waiting for me?"
Sebastian nodded. "I saw you were in a bad mood today, so I wanted to come back and keep you company. I went to your house but you weren't there, and your phone was off, so I waited downstairs for you."
Seraphina glanced at Sebastian.
As she looked at him, there was no trace of anger in his gaze.
Sebastian had just witnessed her kiss Dashiell, yet he remained remarkably composed.
Seraphina couldn't help but feel she was in the wrong.
She said, "Sebastian, if you can't hold on anymore, don't. It's my fault..."
"I will always hold on," Sebastian said firmly. "I understand you're hurting right now, and I can relate to what you're feeling. But Seraphina, I will take my time to show you that Dashiell has hidden agendas when it comes to you. I can't stand by and watch you fall into danger!"
Seraphina gave a faint smile.
She didn't even know what she was smiling about.Seraphina sighed, "It's late; you should head back."
She didn't want to talk about it anymore.
And just like that, she made her peace.
The relationship between the three of them would just be like this.
Sebastian looked at Seraphina, knowing she was very resistant to him now. If he insisted on staying with her, she would be even more repulsed. He was secretly angry, but his face remained gentle. He said, "Then you should rest early. Call me if you need anything, I'm available 24/7."
"Okay." Seraphina nodded.
She used to be very touched by Sebastian's kindness to her, but now she was a little afraid of it.
She turned and walked into the community.
Sebastian watched Seraphina walk away until she vanished from sight, and then a storm of frustration crossed his face.
He clenched his fists.
His eyes were full of ferocity.
Meanwhile, Augustus drove Dashiell back.
In the car, silence hung heavy.
Augustus found himself wanting to speak several times but finally broke the silence at a red light, saying, "If you like Seraphina, why are you holding back?"
Dashiell's eyes flickered slightly.
He pressed his lips together gently.
The taste of Seraphina still lingered on his lips.
Originally, it was just to provoke Sebastian deliberately, but he almost couldn't control his own desire.
He said, "I don't like her anymore."
Augustus smiled.
He rarely smiled, and when he did, it lacked warmth.
But in that moment, his expression clearly conveyed disbelief.
Augustus was older than them, and he had watched them grow up. Augustus had always been with them, so he knew them very well. He never said what they were thinking, but he always knew.
Dashiell loved Seraphina deeply.
Perhaps as much as Alaric loved Cecilia.
However, Augustus was not the type to express his thoughts readily.
Dashiell said he didn't like her anymore, so Augustus would take it as he really didn't like Seraphina anymore!
A week later, Alaric's transfer order was announced.
He was going to Astralton City tomorrow.
When Cecilia saw the news from the State Office, she couldn't stay calm.
This meant she and Alaric would be living apart again.
This time, Alaric was also facing danger.
Cecilia's emotions were all over the place.
She wanted to talk to Alaric more tonight, but he texted her saying that the State Office in Serenovia City was organizing a farewell party and that he would be back very late.
Cecilia suddenly realized that having a husband devoted to his career wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
She thought for a moment and called Seraphina.
To be honest, Cecilia had been too neglectful of Seraphina's feelings lately.
She was afraid Seraphina might really become depressed.
When Seraphina answered Cecilia's call, she felt quite annoyed. "Remember me?"
Her tone dripped with sarcasm.
Cecilia pressed her lips together. "Come to my house for dinner tonight."
"No." Seraphina refused outright.
Cecilia sighed and explained, "Alaric is going to Astralton City for work tomorrow. I've been spending more time with him, but once he's gone, I can spend more time with you."
"Do you think I care about you and Alaric being lovey-dovey?" Seraphina was very upset. "What I care about is why Cassius and Dashiell were there, but I couldn't be there on Alaric's birthday!"
This had turned into an unforgettable pain in her heart!
