Chapter 764 Cecilia Returns to the Lockhart Group
Dashiell felt helpless.
Yeah.
How long can one person wait for another?
A year, maybe.
Ten years, though?
If Alaric really let Cecilia go.
With Cecilia's personality, she would live well on her own.
The emotional hurt from Alaric might take her a year or two to heal, but definitely not ten years.
At some point, she would let go.
By then.
Alaric would have completely lost Cecilia.
Dashiell didn't try to persuade him anymore.
Just hoped.
Not to wait ten or twenty years.
He feared that by then, even if Cecilia didn't leave, her heart would be completely disappointed.
"Dashiell, I'll leave the matters in Serenovia City to you," Alaric said, not saying much more.
"Okay," Dashiell agreed immediately.
He hung up the phone.
Dashiell called Cecilia, "I just spoke with Alaric, you can go handle the Lockhart Group matters."
"Thank you," Cecilia's voice was unusually calm.
There was no excitement for any reason.
Probably because she no longer had any expectations for Alaric.
Whether she agreed or not, she might be able to accept it calmly.
"Cecilia, I'm finalizing the acquisition of the Lockhart Group; you don't need to rush."
"Okay," Cecilia said lightly.
"If you need anything from me, you can call. As long as it doesn't go against Alaric's principles, I can do many things."
"I understand," Cecilia chuckled softly.
Dashiell also smiled.
In fact.
Except for matters of principle that Cecilia couldn't solve, she could handle everything else.
He just wanted to make up a little, to feel better in his heart.
To be honest.
When Cassius told him to do this, he understood, but he still felt reluctant.
Whether it was Cecilia or the Everhart family, he had some personal feelings involved.
He just hoped he could minimize the harm.
"Then I'll hang up now."
"Okay," Cecilia responded.
She also put down her phone.
After putting down the phone, the smile on her face disappeared.
She was thinking about how to tell Theodore and Genevieve that she was divorced and the Lockhart Group was being acquired.
Cecilia didn't let herself dwell on it for too long.
She stood up from the sofa.
George was watching her every second, afraid she might commit suicide.
Cecilia found George quite amusing.
If she wanted to die, she would have done it long ago.
When Alaric divorced her and imprisoned her, she would have chosen to die then.
Why endure continuous harm until now?
She said, "George, Dashiell just called and said I can go out. Can you ask Alaric if I can go out now?"
"Yes, Mrs. Whitaker," George answered quickly.
He was a bit excited.
He was afraid that keeping Cecilia locked up every day might cause some illness, like depression.
He didn't even dare to think about it.
George called Alaric.
Alaric gave some instructions.
George excitedly walked up to Cecilia, "Mrs. Whitaker, you can go out anytime now. For safety reasons, Mr. Whitaker will arrange for someone to accompany you."
Cecilia smiled.
It sounded nice.
Safety.
Wasn't it just to make sure she didn't run away?
She said, "Okay, I want to go out now. Can you arrange it?"
"Yes, Mrs. Whitaker," George looked happier than she did.
"George," Cecilia called him.
"Mrs. Whitaker, do you need anything else?" George was full of excitement.
Cecilia couldn't help but envy Alaric for having such a good servant.
"Don't call me Mrs. Whitaker anymore," Cecilia said directly.
George's smile became a bit awkward.
"It's not that I have any issues with you, don't overthink it. I won't involve others in my matters with Alaric. But since I'm divorced from Alaric, I'm no longer his wife, so you don't need to call me that. If it's inconvenient to call me by my name, you can call me Ms. Lockhart," Cecilia said.
She was calm about many things.
George was obviously a bit troubled.
"Don't worry, Alaric won't blame you," Cecilia said lightly.
George nodded, reluctantly saying, "Okay, Ms. Lockhart."
Cecilia smiled slightly.
She said, "I'll go upstairs to change clothes. Please arrange the car for me."
"Ms. Lockhart, no need to be polite."
Cecilia didn't say more.
She turned and went upstairs.
As she turned, the smile on her face gradually faded.
Sometimes, forcing a smile really didn't feel good.
She changed into some outdoor clothes. Since she hadn't gained weight during pregnancy, only her belly was slightly protruding. After putting on loose clothes, it wasn't very noticeable. She also put on light makeup, making herself look much more spirited.
Cecilia sat in the car.
Besides her and the driver, there were two bodyguards.
One sat in the front passenger seat, and one sat next to her, both very respectful.
Cecilia thought she might have to get used to this way of traveling.
The car quickly arrived at the Lockhart Group.
She looked at the towering building, seeing the golden letters "Lockhart Group."
Soon, it would change owners.
Cecilia suppressed her inner emotions and walked into the lobby.
The employees were surprised to see Cecilia, not expecting her sudden appearance. Wasn't she supposed to be resting?
And they heard that Alaric was going to become president. As his wife, shouldn't Cecilia be by his side, waiting for his election?
In short, Cecilia's sudden appearance was unbelievable.
So when Cecilia appeared in her office, Rose was completely stunned.
She thought Cecilia wouldn't return to the Lockhart Group, thinking she would stay home and become the First Lady.
Seeing her now, Rose was so excited that her eyes turned red.
"Ms. Lockhart," Rose quickly approached, "I thought you weren't coming back."
Cecilia looked at Rose, feeling a sudden pain in her heart.
How was she going to tell Rose that Augustus had passed away?
She nodded slightly and turned to sit in her office chair.
She hadn't been here for a long time, but the desk was still as clean as ever.
"Ms. Lockhart, what would you like to drink? Milk?" Rose asked.
Cecilia shook her head, her tone heavy, "Rose."
"Yes," Rose was clearly in an excited state.
Cecilia took out a talisman from her bag.
Rose immediately recognized it as the one she had given Augustus.
Her face showed some displeasure.
If Augustus didn't want it, he should have just thrown it away, not let Cecilia return it. It was simply unreasonable!
"Where did he go?" Rose asked angrily, "Is he with Mr. Whitaker and won't come back?"
Cecilia pursed her lips.
Her eyes seemed a bit red, but she tried hard to hold back.
"Augustus is not suitable for you," Cecilia said in the calmest voice, "Forget about him."
Then she returned the talisman to Rose.
