Chapter 514 Outburst (7) Dominic is Despicable

Cecilia was totally speechless.

Cassius, realizing he might've spilled too much in his excitement, quickly added, "But Alaric never really cared about those women."

Cecilia didn't even bother to argue. She knew exactly what kind of guy Alaric used to be. As long as he was different now, she could live with that.

She said, "And if they're so desperate to kill us, doesn't that mean their evidence might not be as solid as we think? If it were really airtight, they wouldn't be so nervous. So, finding evidence of Alaric's innocence shouldn't be too hard. We just need to dig a little."

"The problem is, it's tough for us to investigate right now. We're being watched, and even though we've dodged surveillance for now, we'll be spotted as soon as we step out," Cassius said, frustrated.

"So we need to be smart about this. We can't just investigate blindly. The more focused we are, the quicker we'll be, and the harder it'll be for them to stop us."

"What do you think we should do?" Cassius asked, looking at Cecilia.

He genuinely believed Cecilia could make a big difference here.

"First, the witnesses in Alaric's embezzlement case are definitely under police protection, so we won't get anything useful from them. No point wasting time there."

"Second, when we went to Alaric's place, the cops showed up right away to stop us, which means there's definitely something there. Think about it, Alaric's money was found in cash at his house. How did it get there? It's a mystery, so we have to go back!"

"Third, we need to get the financial statements from the State Office in Harborvale and check if they match the evidence of Alaric's crimes. If the books are cooked, we'll find discrepancies. Dashiell can handle getting the financial statements from the State Office."

Cecilia laid out all the key points clearly and said seriously, "Basically, our top priority is to get into Alaric's neighborhood and house to find evidence."

"Alright," Cassius agreed immediately.

He genuinely admired her thoroughness and decisiveness, able to pinpoint what would benefit them the most.

"We need to figure out how to avoid their surveillance," Cecilia said, getting serious.

Cassius also started thinking seriously.

"There are probably a lot of people hiding around Alaric's neighborhood. Any slight movement could get us caught. How can we make them let their guard down about where we want to go?" Cecilia muttered to herself.

She kept thinking about how to achieve their goal.

Cassius was also deep in thought.

Their silence made the room eerily quiet.

Suddenly, the phone rang, startling both Cassius and Cecilia with the sudden noise.

It was almost dawn. Who would be calling at this hour?

Cecilia looked at the caller ID and her face darkened. She said, "It's Dominic. Should I answer it?"

"It's up to you," Cassius said, clearly annoyed.

"Can they track us through the phone signal?" Cecilia asked, worried Dominic was trying to find her.

"They can't track us here," Cassius said bluntly. "We've messed with this cell tower. Even if they try, they'll get a different location and won't find us."

Cecilia nodded, impressed by their ability to mess with the cell tower in the Yakurosean Empire.

She gritted her teeth and answered the call.

Dominic's mocking voice came through, "Took you long enough to answer. I thought you'd be up all night."

"What do you want?" Cecilia snapped.

"Didn't you always brag about marrying a good man? How's that working out for you now? Now that he has a bit of power, he can't control himself? I really thought Alaric was something special. Doesn't he feel ashamed now?" Dominic said, clearly enjoying himself. "Cecilia, are you ashamed?"

Cecilia sneered. She knew exactly why Dominic was calling. After being under her and Alaric's thumb for so long, he was relishing Alaric's downfall.

She said, "What happens to Alaric is his business. What do you have to brag about? The Kingsley Group is a mess, and your career at the State Office is in shambles. With all your problems, you still have time to meddle in others' affairs! Dominic, even if Alaric is in trouble, how much better off are you? What right do you have to mock others? Do you think that with Alaric's downfall, you'll have a chance to rise?"

Dominic was clearly enraged by Cecilia's words.

He was about to speak, but Cecilia cut him off. "If that's the case, it only shows you're inferior to Alaric. You can only advance without him!"

"Cecilia! You're so full of yourself!" Dominic was furious. "Do you really think that just because you suppressed the Kingsley Group and made my career at the State Office difficult, I've been completely defeated by you? Cecilia, you underestimate me! I'll make you regret it!"

Cecilia frowned slightly. This time, Dominic didn't seem to be making empty threats. He seemed to be hiding something.

She gritted her teeth and asked, "What are you planning?"

"Do you want to know?" Dominic sneered.

Cecilia didn't answer.

"I won't tell you. Cecilia, to put it bluntly, if you listen to me and stay with me, you might still have a few good years. If you insist on being hostile, don't blame me for being ruthless!"

"Dominic!" Cecilia shouted.

"Tomorrow you'll see just how powerful I can be!"

With that, Dominic hung up.

Cecilia's face darkened.

"Did that bastard Dominic threaten you again?" Cassius's face was also grim.

They hadn't taken Dominic seriously before, but now they had to admit he was truly despicable.
