Chapter 536 Discovering New Clues
Dominic reached Alaric's villa, not wasting a second.
Cecilia stepped out of the car.
Dominic shouted after her, "Cecilia, by now you should know who the real winner is!"
Cecilia bit her lip.
"You're smart enough to know what to do to avoid more pain!" With that, Dominic drove away, full of himself.
Cecilia's eyes narrowed.
No matter what she did, the pain was unavoidable.
Dominic just wanted to satisfy his own desires. He wanted everyone to bow down to him, to bask in the feeling of superiority.
Once he lost the thrill of conquest, those so-called submissive people would all be discarded!
Cecilia swallowed her immense anger and walked into the villa's hall.
It was already 11 PM, and Cassius and Dashiell were still at home waiting for her.
Seeing her return, they quickly approached.
When they saw what Cecilia was wearing, they immediately turned away out of respect.
Cecilia chuckled.
She had originally thought that the people around Alaric were all useless and ill-mannered.
Now it seemed that appearances were deceiving.
They understood respect better than Dominic ever could.
Cecilia said, "I'm going to my room to change."
Cassius and Dashiell both nodded.
Cecilia went upstairs and entered her room.
Her body was already ice-cold.
Even returning to such a warm home, she still felt cold.
Her entire body felt cold, right down to her heart.
The tears she had been holding back finally came out.
She squatted in the corner of her bedroom, hugging her knees, and cried her heart out.
In front of Alaric, she had always held back. Even though the tears kept falling, she never really let her emotions out. It was even more impossible in front of Dominic.
But thinking of Alaric in prison—how he would rather die than let Dominic hurt her, fully aware that Dominic wouldn't go to the extreme, yet still refusing to give in—filled her with a mix of emotions.
How much did Alaric love her?
When did Alaric start loving her?
Why did he risk his life to save her time and again?
She cried for a long time, letting out all the grievances she had suffered today.
Not for herself, but for Alaric—simply because there was an Alaric who loved her!
Cecilia cried until she was exhausted.
She really wanted to use her tears to vent all her emotions, but she knew she couldn't!
She wouldn't give up until she got Alaric out!
She stood up from the floor.
Her legs were so weak that she fell back down as soon as she stood up.
She stood up, walked into the bathroom, and took a hot shower.
After the shower, she put on thick clothes.
Trying to make herself look unaffected, she went downstairs.
In the downstairs hall, Cassius and Dashiell were still waiting for her on the sofa.
George hadn't slept either, busying himself in his room, probably using it as a way to relieve his anxiety.
Cecilia said to George, "George, could you get me some cold medicine?"
"Sure," George said.
Cecilia sat on the sofa next to Cassius and Dashiell.
The two of them looked at her, seemingly at a loss for words.
They avoided talking about how Cecilia looked when she came back.
No one wanted to poke at the wounds over and over again!
Instead, Cecilia spoke very naturally, "I saw Alaric. He's not in good shape."
"I knew it! Dominic would never treat Alaric well!" Cassius raged.
At this moment, he was probably at his breaking point.
When he saw Cecilia return, he was already on the verge of exploding.
If Dashiell hadn't stopped him, he would have rushed to Dominic and shot him!
"But he probably won't... die," Cecilia said.
She really didn't know how to describe Alaric's condition, except to say that he wouldn't die.
Cassius listened, trembling with anger.
Dashiell's face didn't look good either, but he said nothing.
He knew they needed to stay calm and carefully consider what to do next.
Dashiell asked, "Did Alaric say anything?"
"He did." Cecilia nodded. "He said the New Year is coming, and after that is his birthday. He said if he doesn't get out, I should forget about him."
Despite Cecilia's calm tone, her eyes were red again.
"Did he say anything else?" Dashiell asked.
From those few words, it was hard to find any useful information.
"He said one more word," Cecilia recalled.
She tried hard to remember what Alaric whispered to her when he hugged her, but she really didn't hear it clearly.
But she knew it was a word.
"What word?" Cassius asked excitedly.
"I don't know." Cecilia shook her head.
The voice was so low that she really couldn't hear it.
Cassius was agitated.
They all knew that word was the key.
But now they didn't know what it was!
Dashiell saw Cassius's breakdown and said, "Alaric must have had a purpose in what he said. Even if Cecilia didn't hear that word clearly, we should be able to find clues from the other information. Let's not rush."
"I'm worried sick!" Cassius exclaimed helplessly. "Just thinking about Alaric suffering in there, with his severe stomach condition, makes me anxious!"
Cecilia was taking the water and pills George handed her.
She looked up at Cassius.
Cassius said, "Alaric has a stomach condition. He once had a perforated ulcer! The doctor said if he doesn't take care of his stomach, it could fail! It could even turn into cancer!"
His words became more and more exaggerated.
Dashiell couldn't help but stop him. "Don't exaggerate. Alaric's stomach is much better now. It's not as serious as you say. A perforated ulcer can be fixed; it won't turn into cancer!"
Cecilia just listened quietly, without saying a word.
"Cecilia," Dashiell changed the subject. "Are you sure Alaric only said those few things?"
Cecilia said, "He said if he died, I should find someone else."
"Damn it!" Cassius cursed.
At a time like this, Alaric could still say such things!
Having loved Cecilia all his life, if she found someone else, Alaric would be rolling in his grave.
Cassius shook his head.
Alaric wouldn't die!
"I'm thinking, why did Alaric suddenly mention his birthday?" Dashiell seriously focused on the details, clearly much calmer than Cassius.
Cecilia, after taking the cold medicine, also seriously joined the discussion with Dashiell. "Yes, I also think the birthday detail is trying to convey something."
But what was it conveying?
"January 18th?" Cecilia asked, "Is there something about the number?"
Dashiell shook his head.
It didn't seem to provide any information.
The two of them fell into deep thought.
Cassius suddenly had a revelation and shouted, "Last year for Alaric's birthday, I gave him a phone!"
Cecilia and Dashiell paused.
A phone!
Cecilia felt nervous suddenly.
She remembered now, it seemed that when Alaric whispered in her ear, this was the word he had said!
